I Remember A Friend In High School Showing Me This Music Video, This Band, And Was Astounded By Their Sound And Aesthetic. One of Their Best Tracks, Even After *14* Years!!!
Headbanged in maths too this in my teens, absolutely awesome track. Even better that the teacher thought playing it to the whole class would embarrass me, "metal heads" were shunned back in my school (Chavs were the majority lol). Never sat there looking more defiantly proud.
Nick Vanzwol this track was released in 2007 the singer is 47 seven years ago he would be 40 and you can even see the vocalist appear briefly in the video every now and then. Just letting you know also the guitarist isnt even playing the right notes anyone can see that
literally the 1st video that pops up if you search for Devildriver on UA-cam. You didn't even have to remember the name of the track. You didn't look very hard.
@@nielsssg eh could be memory issues, the one song from a band they barely listened to but loved the track, could remember the words but not the band name. something like that, happens to a lot of us lol

A few years ago, in 8th or 9th grade, I can't remember exactly, we had to present singers/bands, and I chose DevilDriver as they were my favorite band at the time (close second to The Black Dahlia Murder as of now) and I was the only one in my class that listened to metal. We had to play at least 3 songs from the bands we were presenting (I don't know why I didn't choose Clouds Over California), and I don't think my classmates were enthused.
+MrDBZLiker omg i had to do a history presentation a few years ago. I chose Genghis Khan and decided to use a clip of the song bloodmeat and i didn't do a sound check and it was SO LOUD. There needs to be more metal in class rooms. xD
+Shaun Moore Same here. Jeezus, high school was how long ago? I had Deicide, Morbid Angel, Obituary, and the like to piss off the "normal" folk. Wish I had DevilDriver.......
Lol! A friend of mine that i met today in the skatepark told me to search this band up. He said "It's not a coincidence that i'm listening to Devildriver right now, it get's me so pumped up, and in a good mood." So i decided what the hell, i'll check them out. So i merely laughed my ass off when i figured out why it got him so happy and pumped up. This video contains: Skating, awesome guitar riffs, solo's and some beast vocals. Not to mention AWESOME music! Thanks Daniel!
And the boy on that mic is Simon Fafara, who actually did add backing growls to the studio recording of Tirades of Truth on the Last Kind Words album. He was 9 at the time. Today, he is fully grown at 22 years old. Now is about the time for the torch to be handed down to him I believe.
This video sure brings me back to when I was that young and everyone was into the rap scene. Both ears gauged, black nail polish, and metal blaring through my headphones. Looks like we're dominating the population now. \m/
One of my favorite bands. No excuse for how underrated these guys are, they should be bigger than most of the 'metal' bands (as good as L.O.G. imo) out there as far as exposure and $$$$$
One of my most favorite songs to ever listen to. That robed figure in this video must be checking the balance between calm and metal, everything seems in perfect balance.
lmao, I can't believe I used to talk to one of the guys in that music video. How time flies && how things change! I still && will always love DevilDriver's music! They used to be my favorite band.

Why does metal have to be such a divided genre? I don't care if you only like clean vocals, if you only listen to the heaviest most monotone death metal or the most trve kvlt black metal or grove metal or doom metal or Gothic metal or folk metal or German death reggae No one is asking you to listen to anything. Just accept what everyone else likes and move forward as a genre. The only thing that can kill metal is metal itself.
TakeTo TheShadows grew up on elvis to metallica. learned to love it all eventually. this is great. we all evolve in our music tastes. just takes some longer. i love hip hop too btw. dont lose hope. music is music no matter what genre. crap is crap no matter what pop station it is played on.
TakeTo TheShadows I think the metal scene just attracts a lot of people who have a lot of issues with self esteem and many of them are used to being rebellious and having extremely strong ideas about what they believe and being so focused on it that they turn into elitists about it. Most of them have been bullied and told that what they think is wrong, so many of them are in this constant state of self defense when their views come into question. May people outgrow this (because the metal scene usually attracts younger people) and chill out, but not all of them do. I think claiming one way is the right way to do something is ignorant and defeats the purpose of rock and roll, punk, or metal, that being of rebellion against fascism and the close mindedness of mainstream society. Of course now metal is big enough that it's debatable as to whether it's lost it's position as the rebellions music, as more people oppose and get offended to Rap or Hip Hop from what I've seen. There are still the extreme elements that turn off mainstream society, but the older generation having been at lest exposed to rock and roll (like what I call the "KISS Generation") is far more likely to accept metal than generations before. Anyway, sorry for the rambling about metal and angst. Just thought I'd give my 2 cents.
