- Well into their two-decade career and with seven albums under their belt, the Grammy nominated five piece metalcore unit is back with a bludgeoning, unmissable new anthem, "Burden", out now via Napalm Records. Premiering with a high energy music video, "Burden" boasts gripping energy, charging in with the band’s trademark breakneck intensity, soaring choruses and ingenious guitar soloing.
This track is just a taste of what's to come from the band's next official release, and further bolsters the proven line-up of vocalist Tim Lambesis and guitarist Phil Sgrosso alongside recent newcomers Ryan Neff, Nick Pierce, and Ken Susi. "Burden" was co-produced by Phil Sgrosso and Hiram Hernandez, mixed by Aaron Chaparian and mastered by Ted Jensen.

Return of the Metalcore Kings!!!

@@personreanimationno they don’t… absolute garbage
So happy Phil decided to stay. He was always underrated in my opinion.
It's a shame AILD doesn't have the OG lineup anymore. Tim & Phil are the last ones left
True, he is such a beast!
It’s true, the other OG member Evan White hasn’t been with me since 2004. It’s a misconception what is OG about AILD and who has created the sound all these years 😊 Sometimes the public face changes but it’s all the same behind the scenes
Definitely underrated. All the behind the scenes clips of them making their albums Phil always gets credit for the riffs, but I don’t think people understand truly how much the riffing sets the stage for the entire song. Songs are definitely more than just riffs, but Phil has already been able to sculpt out songs so much with just riffs and sets the stage for where the rest of it would go. Obvious tweaking along the way to better suit the song, but yea. Definitely underrated due to being known as the “rhythm guitarist”.
@@timlambesis sometimes changes are a necessity. The sound is always there for AILD. I hope you tour North Carolina again.
This sounds like 2008. Which is a GOOD thing especially today. It's not overproduced and has that that classic 2000s metalcore vibe that is sorely missing from the industry.
With all that remains going back to the 2000s metalcore sound too, we are being treated
I couldn't have said it better myself. This sounds like it could of been from the album Oceans Between Us. What a jam to be listening writing a paper for class.
No doubt. HEAVY.
I thought I was the only one. I just can't get into modern metalcore for some reason.
Why is that I love the melodeath inspired metalcore?
No misic video with Tim is complete without air punching and as always he doesn't disappoint.
💯👊
TRUE DAT BROTHER! 👆
I think this is a record for the most amount of air punches in a music video. Usually we only get a couple.
And lats
He just imagines his ex wife is in the video and it amps him up
Tim’s vocals are absolutely monstrous on here. He’s back to his prime .

I'd say they are one level above

I don't care what the new generations says, Metal is the best genre.
Metal is on its way up again with younger listeners
Heavy metal will always be the biggest most loyal music genre and it shows
👍👍👍👍👍
Born in 2006 turned metalhead when I was around 9, never even thought about thinking about considering trying other genres because metal is just too good.
Listening to this generation is probably the worst possible thing you can do lol
As I Lay Dying, Unearth, Miss May I, sure why not. My 3 favorite bands, what a combination! 🔥
The last Unearth album was AOTY unbelievably good. I thought Foregone would take it until that took out
@@sethjenkins9263 For me, their album, Watchers of Rule is the best. Well, we all love any of Unearth's albums anyway 🔥
New unearth?! Mf..
For me its As i lay dying, Caliban and Trivium :D
I'm talking about The Wretched The Ruinous their newest one
I HAD TO WAIT 5 YEARS FOR THIS AND IT WAS WORTH IT
Beacuse of the line up of thier roster. Having development situation. Tim straight drafted some ✨
We carried that burden
They just copied all that remains. They were like "oh wait? Old metalcore kids want this again?"
I'm in my 30s. Like. We get it. Gallop breakdowns?
For real it was worth the wait
Nick Pierce and Ken Susi (Unearth) really bringing in the energy to AILD🔥🔥🤘
Bruh, fucking Tim is making an all ⭐️ band!! 🤣 the man. Is all about adaptability. Since everyone peace out, on him. He turned a new leaf over and said less go
Yeah, they definitely are killing it here.
Nick Pierce is a beast 🤘🏻
Balls!!! just sdont say some shit!!! You know how it was when Nick was in the band and music was more powerful!! This is nothing compared to the old AILD..Period!
So that is Ken Susi! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me
Every time As I Lay Dying drops new music I get a little teary eyed. Such an Iconic band for me in my childhood. Laying in my bed at 3am listening to Shadows Are Security just took me away knowing I had school in a few hours.
Here here. Not with As I Lay Dying but with many others. Cheers
I’m right there with you!
Being how influenced Miss May I is by AILD, Ryan is THE perfect replacement for Josh. As much as I miss the original lineup, this one is so strong.
He may not be as great as josh, but indeed his vocal is very AILD. You know what i mean
i kept hearing a MMI tinge in there. its not the most obvious thing, but i kept picking it up
sadly he is just not a good singer live. on the record, sounds great. but he completley falls apart live.
@sp00g37 Yeah as a huge Miss May I fan I definitely heard it too.
@@abc4781 it almost gives me vibes of the first 2 mmi CDs with aild layered over. As soon as I hear the chorus, it's relentless chaos
Been a fan since Frail Words and torn about the news of beloved ex-members' exit. Though been a long time fan of Unearth era with Nick and Ken.
This made me finally embrace this new lineup. Ryan's chorus is addicting as hell. Welcome back AILD!
Yes. Ryan's chorus is VERY addicting!
Couldnt agree more
Definitely agree! I was on the fence about the new lineup but have been a long time AILD and Unearth fan. This song has really validated the new lineup for me!
Phil said it best. It’s a throwback to their melodic history but with a new aggression and energy. I hope the entirety of the album sounds like this. Best work they’ve put out since The Powerless Rise, IMO. My inner high schooler is so stoked!
I really enjoyed shaped by fire. Maybe more than the powerless rise and an ocean between us. Josh's vocals were so good in shaped by fire I can listen to it over and over. Although Condemned will always be my favorite AILD song.
Did they announce an album?
If you were in high school during TPR, then I'm old as fuck. Ugh
Every new music video, Tim gets bigger and bigger.
Steroids will do that to you
He’s back on that juice. Anyone checkin in on his current wife. Or even his second ex wife?
The real sound of metalcore
Definitly metalcore as it should be!
Between this and Divine by All That Remains, good to see 00s Metalcore making a comeback

I wasn’t sold on Ryan’s vocals until I heard him on a recording with the band. I’m sold.
Ryan's voice has always been good in Miss May I, but sadly not as high as Josh Gilbert, especially when Live.
@@yayatpriyatna7326 yeah I know it was good. But I wanted to hear it on a recording first with AILD.
Listened to him live and was horrible but at least on record he sounds good... Tim rocks though

I Think As I Lay Dying Is A Supergroup Now
Ryan From Miss May I
And The Two Other The Guitarist And Drummer Is From Unearth What A Badass Lineup 🤘🔥🖤
Unearth and As I Lay dying have always been my two favorite Metalcore bands, and of course i've always loved Miss May I. This lineup is a goddamn SUPERGROUP if there ever was one. Can't wait to hear more!!!!
Haha so true!) after these metamorphosis we've got a supergroup! This idea never crossed my mind 😅
Hellyeah is the supergroup but this is a close second
Make metalcore great again 🤘🏻😍
I didnt believe my eyes at first but it was confirmed to be AILD when I noticed the fast camera action, dark warehouse, blazing fire and catchy asf cleans, monstrous vocals, pounding drums and shredding guitars. Nice job AILD!
Phil Sgrosso is a magician!
This took me back to middle school. Awesome old school AILD sound.
When Jordan, nick and Josh left, it felt like damn, now everythings gonna change, now with Ken, Ryan and nick, it feels like nothings changed !! They've preserved the AILD sound while bringing their own twist to things ! Love it !! Can't wait for what's to come.
Tim and Phil wrote the new stuff.
I believe tim said that the album was nearly finished by the time the Unearth dudes joined.
i think this song feels like 2000' metalcore? you know like older stuff and i love it
Thats because Tim and Phil have always written the music. Listen to the actual lyrics of this song, its what they are talking about.
@@paul_romero_ Tim and Phil wrote ALL the stuff, not just the new stuff. They talked about it a bunch of times.
@@nvlaser9084 I really don't think neither team or Phil wrote Jordan's parts. Neither of them is a good drummer or drum-writer to be able to come up with all of those tradematk Jordan sections.
Release this burden
Burden
I'm far from perfect
But what I gave you was a gift
Expecting so little
I never cared if you came or left
Moving on
No one will ever live in our shoes and
No one will ever know the full truth so
I choose to let the music itself
Speak volumes about you
Nothing but deadweight
Seeing the world all expenses paid
And now I've carried the weight
I've carried the weight
Of your burden long enough
And I listened as you fabricate
Till the truth just fades away
But it's you that starts to fade
So caught in the past
A legacy you hardly built
While here in reality
I sadly witnessed your intellect wilt
You hardly wrote a note
Like a well dressed ghost
That learned to feed off us
As a virus to a host
And now I've carried the weight
Of your burden long enough
And I listened as you fabricate
Till the truth just fades away
But it's you that starts to fade
Fade away
Fade away
I've had this millstone around my neck
Long enough
Burden, deadweight, burden
It's become clear that you are just deadweight
That's been released to sink

New AILD is always an EVENT
Ryan vocals in this song is what it would sound like if you combined Josh's and Tim's clean style vocals together. He's got a nice balance of both. His voice sounds similar to how Tim does on Nothing Left. Tim actually did the clean vocals on that song! I'm stoked to see Phil taking over Lead duties. No offense to Nick, love the dude, but I think Phil is an all around better guitarist. His leads are smooth and he can play pretty much any of Nick's solos. I'm digging the new line up.
