- Arthas vs. Mal'Ganis Cinematic. Remastered Warcraft 3 Cutscene. Warcraft's iconic moment where Prince Arthas purges Stratholme's citizens to thwart Mal'ganis, after disbanding Uther's Knights. The original cinematic that was meant to be part of Warcraft 3: Reforged's Culling Campaign but was mysteriously scrapped and replaced.

This is how the cinematic should look when the Reforged came out. Was it so hard to do this, Blizzard?
It isn't hard for them. They just don't give time for developers and want to release it asap. I put so much hope to see the new cutscenes and cinematics like what they showed us :(
Honestly, if this early version of culling had such animation and detail, can you imagine what other cutscenes would've been like? Sylvanas, Varimathras, Kil'jaeden & Illidan, Arthas & KT attacking Silvermoon. Dear god, it'd be 4 hours of pure Warcraft3-gasmic action!

The community asked for #Nochanges. Blizzard scrapped these cutscenes style and changed them to ressemble more the original cutscenes. The community asked for that at the time the same way they are now enraged with reforged. If people stopped to hate and started to talk, this kind of nuisance could've been avoided.

They talked right after the Culling just before he leaves for Northrend but according to the book about Arthas the last time she saw him was when he attacked Dalaran. She heard the discussion between him and Antonidas before she fled to Kalimdor

Since they realized they wouldn't be able to redo all the cutscenes. They could have just done a handful of the important ones. Like this one.

Like others have said, I assume they realized it would be too much work and resources to remake all the cutscenes like this. So I assume they toned down the quality. Then I assume it was still expensive for the 3 and a half people working on them, so they probably scrapped the entire idea, and just resorted to slightly less pixelated versions of the original, but without the loving animation and charm. I'd love to see them at least remake the major/main moments, and patch them in the future.

Hiya Folks! This one took forever to piece together as most of the lip synching was hard to work with due to it being a very, very early version. Some scenes look unrefined and some parts were missing so I filled those in with in-game parts. I added the dialogue & music, a bit spliced in some parts compared to current W3. Overall, I think this is the closest we can get to the original vision of what Warcraft 3: Reforged could’ve been. Just look at the animation on Mal’ganis on that last part! Shame they scrapped their work, as they did quite a good job even this early on.

Reminder that Uthor betrayed his oaths to the people by abandoning Arthas during his time of need and Jaina did the exact same. If either/both of them had been there they probably could have killed Malganis and Arthus never would have needed Frostmourne and wouldn't have been driven insane by his loss and grief. He did what had to be done, what NEEDED to be done and they shunned him for it. #ArthasDidNothingWrong
Uther's self righteousness got in the way of his duty as a paladin. uther should have thought first what other way could they have done to save those people. they were already infected with the undead plague, saving stratholme was already too late. the greatest help he would have given to those people was to kill them befor they turned into the undead at least they could have died human. if jaina really loved arthas she should have stayed by his side to the end. if you cant handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my very best. and im glad arthas killed uther. #ArthasDidNothingWrong
While it's true that there was probably no other way to save Stratholme, Arthas did plenty that was wrong especially after acquiring Frostmourne... it's not good letting Revenge get the better of you.. Remember Muradin and those Mercenaries?
@@dantefromdevilmaycry9857 everything that Arthas did after acquiring Frostmourn was under the influence of the Lich King, so i cant really blame him for it. But i can blame him for everything that happened from here until then, his thirst for justice and revenge agaisnt Mal'Ganis took the best of him.

it seems completely incoherent that the old version has better art direction and "photography" than the new one. Several cinematics that previously had changes in angle and music have become plastified and without music resulting in a soulless work.

There was but the purge was definitely the "best" option if you want to save lives as much as you can.

I guess even if there was some other way, the people would still die and turn to the undead. In a way, by killing them, Arthas spared them from suffering from the plague. I like to think that their death was mercy

why couldnt blizz do this for all the cutscenes why did they keep it the same as WC3 Original ... this is why people got upset cos they were lied about the game cinematics/cutscenes immersion
Because they quickly figured how much work it would have required to remake all cutscenes like this...and especially the ones with more action...
It would have required quite big cinematic/cutscene department to do that within 1 year, way too much what the small team of Reforged could have been ever been capable of.
And as you can imagine Activision-Blizzard would likely NOT give Reforged team the resources/manpower required to accomplish that. Not when those people are required in other games (Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, WoW expansions...)

but they re-used the same voice lines/sound effects and music for the game all they did was update some models/textures lol
@@chrissy93x actually they DID add/remix some new music into it, but most of it is not that great/can only be heard during cutscenes. They also did add different kind of sound effects for example when units die.
As for voice acting, thats the one spesific thing fans DID request that would be kept the same, or atleast players would be given option to choose the original voice acting. Most Warcraft III fans do not like how especially Arthas and Illidan sound like in WoW.
But yes overall I agree that Reforged simply had too small of a team/not big enough budget clearly, because even the remade unit models were made by outsourced studio, not by Blizzard themselves...

@@Athelarius Maybe in the future yeah, BUT I've seen several instances where important scenes were shown in full cinematic or at least stretched out like this, not just opening and ending so maybe it could be done here too Blizzard's done it plenty of times.
With Warcraft 3 there are those important parts take The Culling for example, so if they were shown like this......there could be another chance. Yeah it would've been cool if all of them got it but sadly there is a budget and number of people working on it to consider.
If all the cinematic had released like this, I would gladly pay money for it.

When I played this level when I was a kid I did not understand the English language. I thought I had to resist Malganes and destroy the living deadhouse. I did the stage dozens of times and did not give up. I even destroyed the entire living mortuary, but I couldn't destroy Malganis's place even with 8 mortar shooters I thought this stage was impossible until I thought, what if you destroyed the houses and killed the people before they turned into a zombie, perhaps I succeed, and in fact I won. (Google translation, I don't speak English yet)

What reforged could have been :(
The fact that they made it means it should've been in the game.
I'd like to see what other ones they actually had made or were in progress, but decided to scrap them all, since they couldn't remake all of them. As people would complain that only half the scenes received this treatment. Maybe 4 hours would be too much, but the major moments should have received this cinematic treatment, especially in 2020 and the resources they have available.
@@Athelarius on the contrary a massive multi billion company like Activision Blizzard could remake them all no problem with very little financial loss. However Activision like EA sucks the soul and life out of games.
That's the thing, they should've been able to deliver on the 4 hours of cutscenes. I don't know what corporate decisions go down in there, but it's definitely a bit shady.

This looks better than what we actually got, no doubt, but still looks kinda bad. The camera angles are really static and the animations look plastic af, this would have been good 10 years ago but in 2020 I expect way more from a AAA company like Blizzard. The fact that people were hyped for this is laughable, they should have been disappointed from the start.
Well this would have still been way better than we got...yes I agree on Blizz standards its still nowhere near as good as lets say SC2 cutscenes, but then again I didnt expect Reforged to get that kind of budget....so I wasnt really expecting that kind of quality, but I wish they had done all the cutscenes more cinematic like this

This cutscene had gotten me so damn excited. They promised sooo much. All cutscenes redone, extra story bits from the books added in etc. It would have been perfect....but no...Activision didn't want to spend the money, because they couldn't monetize a single player RTS game .....I waited my whole life for this remake....oh well.
