Arthas thrusting his sword and twisting it at the end was a nice touch. I wish we got more of those improvements in the rest of the game
I can only imagine what the REAL Warcraft 3 reforged would’ve been like. Could’ve been a new masterpiece. But it’s still fun to experience the game again I guess at least. I really would’ve liked to see cutscenes like Stratholme. Looked like a good concept thrown away.
@@Athelarius My thoughts as well. I'm more interested in what modders have to say about the new wc3. Will custom games rule the scene once again? Can they toy with the new engine? If that's the case, then maybe, just maybe we'll see proper campaign cutscenes

Arthas didn't do anything wrong. Honestly, the fact his teacher, Uther and lover, Jaina, abandoned him at such a harsh, but proper decision to purge, and let him get baited by Mal'Ganis, is their fault he turned to vengeance, Frostmourne and corruption. He had no voice of reason, or anyone to ACTUALLY stop him from further vengeance. Muradin was just there as a cheerleader.

Last time I was this early Arthas was still a paladin.
Arthas was always an Arthas. When he went to Arthas, and took the helm of Arthas, he became Arthas.

This really needs a live-action series adaptation, with Henry Cavill as Arthas! But for the love of god, DON'T MAKE A MOVIE! DON'T DO IT! Imagine if they tried to fit all of Game of Thrones into just one 1.5 hour movie. It would never work! Instead, do it like a series. And take it slow. Use the first 3-4 seasons to describe the Arthas plot as a human paladin until he acquires Frostmourne. And do it sloooow! Take your time to flesh out the Arthas-Jaina love plot, introduce the characters like properly, like Antonidas, Terenas... Spend time on the court intrigue at the Lordaeron court between Terenas and his advicers, the political relations to Silvermoon, Gilneas, the Arathor kingdom and other human kingdoms, the Dwarfs, the troll savages ravaging the lands... Take your time to flesh out the lore.
And introduce the threat of the Cult of the Damned and the scourge plot as a mysterious, eerie slow threat as first, that nobody really knows anything about at first, and people maybe even don't want to acknowledge/talk about seriously (like how the White Walkers threat in GOT was introduced in series 1-6, but without dropping it all on the floor in season 8). And then slowly scale the threat upwards, until Arthas begins to loose his mind and culls Stratholme in Season 2-3...
But whatever you do Blizzard, DONT MAKE A MOVIE! Make a series like the Witcher / Game of Thrones, downplay the fantasy elements as much as possible, and DON'T name it "Warcraft". Make it accessible to the general public, like naming it "Fall of a Kingdom" or whatever, so the name of the series don't immediately direct non-fans' attention to 30-year old guys sitting gaming in their mothers basement (sorry but it's true).
If done right, as a series, I think the Arthas plotline of Warcraft could be a massive commercial success. But only if done right.

With the super deformed character models and the top down view similar to the game this cut-scene worked. But with this highly detailed, but weirdly still models and very little of sutil animations and visual details, this look a lot worse.

One thing I've never understood is where did he get his Death Knight armor? Was there ever an explanation for how he got it or who forged it for him?
It was on sale on the BNET store for only 24.99. Came with some soul stealing death sword and with an easy extra payment of 7.99, he managed to customize his hairstyle as well.

He wandered through Northrend for a while, killing his own man and probably stopping by the LK himself. Ner'Zhul was trapped in an armor, but when Arthas took up the crown of domination at the end of WC3, the armor was already gone. Ner'Zhul probably wanted to test him before completely merging with Arthas.

Actually if you look closely you’ll see there just modified version of his pally armour, like as if Frostmourne had twisted his Armor and reshaped it or something
The worst part is where he had those mercenaries who fought for him slaughter by his own men! this dog deserves death for that.
All part of his path to corruption and vengeance. He was losing his mind way before Frostmourne, but that moment sealed his fate, taking his soul once he grabbed it.

Glad to hear, and thank you! The game is pretty good. The only thing I’m disappointed about is the cutscenes that we’re cancelled like Stratholme. But who knows they might add them in later.

They showed the concept at blizzcon I believe. They showcased an unfinished version of Stratholme Culling but it seems they scrapped that and the others they had planned.

5:21 lights vengeance that hammer weighs atleast 20 kilos. Losing grip will make it fall straight to ground with a loud thud. Not bounce a bit like foam prop.
Also I miss the uphill and original bg music when he makes the decision to purge. He is lacking emotions and music is less tense when he will hunt down malganis to the ends of the earth.
He drops it off screen, you can't see it bounce nor is there a sound effect of it doing so. When he goes to pick up Frostmourne it kind of slides forward due to the energy aura or whatever you want to call it but it still doesn't bounce.
In the original he actually tosses it to the side. I like that more because it shows how zero fucks he gives at that point. Dropping it was pretty anticlimactic.

They outsourced some small company to do the new models. It's a Aliens Colonial Marines situation. Big company can't be bothered to do the work they promised and passed it on to someone else but keep all the credit.

Honestly, compared to the baked potato Warcraft 3 was, these aren't half bad. But nowhere NEAR what they showed in 2018. That's inexcusable. They should never have advertised more than they could offer. Unless they add all that in the future with some faith and hope.

So many small added touches at the expense of a lot of iconic imagery of the environment, shadows/general darker vs lighter tones per campaign and original feel.
Also does this mean frostmourne was un-retconned to be forged again by LK along with the helm and plate as per OG Nerzhul plot of WC2?
This uhhh... "remaster" is a slap in the face.
They could have single handedly brought a resurgence back to WC3 if they dedicated the resources and efforts into the game (which it very well deserved). But instead, got a cheap outsourced malaysian company to turn the game cinematics into mobile game-style cinematics.
Most of the ingame cinematics are broken. Mal'ganis being abducted is fucking hilarious.
The Illidan vs Arthas fight is like plastic figures being animated.

What I don’t get is what happens to Arthis after this and before the undead campaign. There were 10 royal guards and Arthis had only 2 undead guards with him. By Warcraft standards, that’s only enough to hold off for a few seconds. 3 against 10 isn’t good math even in WC3. On top of that, he’s in the middle of the royal castle and it’s not unlikely he would be overwhelmed by all the other guards inside.

World of Warcraft was always too cartoony to me like the character look like cartoons compared to the rendered cgi scene and that really turned me off to world of warcraft.

It really could’ve. The gameplay itself is somewhat fine. But the fact the cutscenes they had planned like Stratholme didn’t make it is heartbreaking. They were a really great concept. Even if they looked like the demo it still would’ve been an improvement over what we got. I only hope they can add them in later with a bit of faith.

Did you happen to use a Warlords battlecry 3 audio file in 2:55? The ghostly scream is very similar, if not itself, to the sound produced by the undead's "halls of death" when clicked. (I think that was the name of their town center)
This is still one of the best cinematics in game history, second only to the StarCraft 2 Kerrigan cinematic.
