I did this and my chrome cast is now showing up but when I play something like netflix the TV screen is black (subtitles will play on the tv) and the sound but no picture can you help?

Netflix doesnt allow that I think. Some apps has that block so we cant share screen nor take any screenshots / records

patched. no longer works like this. There are some new work arounds by using the boot loader menu or whatever. don't have to root is what I hear.

Now it's in smart view - 3 dots in upper right corner - settings - labs - allow apps to be cast

Yes, they disabled it but it's available under labs, settings, enable Chromecast support

You can't but you should have Android home app from where you can cast your screen
