- Welcome to the first episode of a new project, London A-Z, in which I visit a different part of London based on it's name. This week, being the first episode is the letter A and I have decided to visit Angel, Islington to see what it has to offer to the street photographer. Again I have decided to record this as a point of view video, so you will see what I saw on the day and hear some of my thoughts on the images as I frame them up.
I hope that you enjoy the video!

Shot at 9:20 with the guy arching his back, mirroring the arch itself. Nice! Reminded me of walking the streets of St Tropez. Lavished with luxury. Angel, I’ll remember that one😳
Ah yes, Angel is called the riviera of London 😉 I have a feeling you'll enjoy the next episode!
Really enjoyable video and images, thanks Gary
'Do what you love, I am!". 👍 Great series Gary, binge watching coming up...

Interesting idea and one that stops you umming and ahing over where to go or going back to the same place again and again - looking forward to X!
That's literally one of the main drivers for me doing it 🙂
Great idea. Look forward to seeing the rest of the series.
Cheers mate, much appreciated. I hope that this are well at the camera club 🙂
@@GaryNormanPhoto all good thanks. . Leading the ratings at camera club. Think my pictures are a bit different to what they are used to.
Enjoyed this mate, you got some cracking images. Can't wait for episode B 😁😁
Thanks very much Paul 🙂
Nice shots, especially at the canal.
Thanks Sheila, very kind of you 🙂
Very interesting. The number of times I have come out of that exit at Angel Tube Station and walked the 50 yards for a meeting in Regent's Houe (the RBS/Natwest brick building) so it really took me back to my working days.
Thanks very much Keith 🙂
Great photos around the canal and bridge
Good luck with this project Gary. I enjoyed the video, look forward to the next one.
Cheers Simon, very kind of you 🙂

Stumbled on this series this morning with the Deptford vid, gone back to view in order now. Great stuff Gary, might nick your idea and do the same in Sydney. Subbed.
I think that's a great idea!
Great idea, love it
Cheers mate 🙂
Great idea mate, just don't know how you do it.
Looking forward to x y and z lol.
Yes, I'm going to have to be creative with those letters 🙂
So lucky living near enough to London that you doesn't have to fork out 200 quid just to get there haha proper day trip for us northerners. Where we have the mountains its always nice to try your hand at street in London. Looking forward to the series. Was upset to see you using your Sony and not your Canon A7r3 this time 😉
It's swings and roundabouts though mate as it's about 5 hours for me to get to the lakes or Snowdonia and a mountain!
Looking forwards to Z .... Zaire Consulate maybe 😉
I think a bit of artistic licence is going to be required down that end of the alphabet! 😂
@@GaryNormanPhoto Well for V I would suggest the Victoria and Albert Hall but it will probably be Vignette the $h!t out of it again 😉😀😁😂🤣🤣
I missed the best street photo I could have ever taken last week. An old derelict pub with rusted cast iron gates that I'd specifically gone to shoot. I thought somehow I'd jammed the camera (Zenit 11), but I'd only locked the shutter button to avoid accidental exposures. Whilst fiddling about a funeral cortege went by with one of those guys in top hat and cane walking ahead of the hearse. Bugger, he's walked into the shot I thought as I stood there in due respect. It only dawned on me as he walked out of frame it would have been the shot of the year if I'd got him walking in a stately fashion past the closed down pub ... chances of it happening again ......
Nice idea, Gary. I’ll probably copy it. But the cities in The Netherlands are too small to restrict me to one city. My idea is to find villages with capitals from A-Z instead. It will be a long lasting project; fun to execute.
This will be good, Gary... a bit like using the Monopoly board.
Very much so, David. Thank you 🙂
You know the shot of the bins and the fella walking out.... do you get questioned like "here mate what you doing?" And your just "taking some photos of those bins, problem?" Just can't imagine what people must say, if they indeed do say anything?
Honestly , the only interaction that I had was with the guy at the stall to say thanks for him smiling for the photo. I find that a smile usually disarms any potential situation, but to be fair I've only ever had one person ask me (very politely) to delete him, which I did. The guy coming out of the door didn't even acknoweldge my existence 🙂
