I grew up here as a young boy in the late 40's until the late 70's. I last visited there about 20 years ago, everything had changed. I would never go back
Mr Lindsay absolutely look forward to your narration of London's different and great districts, I'm sure it gives everyone a lovely warm feeling, fantastic as always
Happy to see this...helping alleviate the ennui I’m experiencing on lockdown in Barbados 🇧🇧. Great memories as this is my manor. Highbury forever! Thanks
I got to say my borough,Islington, looks pretty. If you went up to Crouch Hill, just on the boarder with Crouch End, you would have got a lovely shot of Alexander Palace. Turn your camera around, you would have had the whole panorama of London before you. I used live on Crouch Hill as kid, and saw London from my bedroom.
Great Video, like Dwayne's other London documentaries. The music for the first part is surely a version of the Christmas Carol ' Past three o'clock ' .
Really beautiful video. Incredibly memories came to my mind. You broke my heart hahahaha! I love how you tell the history of boroughs and your voice goes perfectly with the music on the backgrounds. Congratulations Sir.
Great to see a new video from you Dewyne! Expecting new soundtracks from Yeth as well. Couldn't find any Easter eggs but maybe I just couldn't see it, heehee.
As,always great bit of background music. Its hard not to find them catchy. Islington. Hone to the best Football club ever. Good times or bad Gooner4life
@@LondonDistricts oh ok. Even though Highbury IS in Ilsington? Same as Union Chapel which coincidentally happens to be in or near Highbury fields? so really you did cover Highbury in a way.
@@gary3561 Union Chapel is in Canonbury, a region within the district of Islington. Highbury falls under the overall Islington borough but is a district in its own right. The same is true for the Holloway district :)
Great video- will watch the rest of the series. This was sent to me by a friend because my husband proposed to me on The Screen on the Green in 2013 but I realise you probably weren’t referring to us as someone else copied our proposal a year or so later and it was reported in the local paper! 😆😭
@@MrResearcher122 I’ve live in Tufnell Park which is very nice, archway is just becoming lower Highgate, I understand your comparison but I’d say archway is a bit more residential/suburban than angel. Holloway/seven sisters/Finsbury park are in need of a lot of work to put it politely.
@@dotdots2660 I am just in Beaversbrook Road, just off of Tufnell Park/Holloway. I have lived in every part of Islington. My mum died last year in her house in Highbury, and my brother lives there now. When I was a kid living up Crouch Hill, Holloway Road for us was like the West End. This is in the 70s. You went down there to buy cloths from Marks n Spencers or to buy shoes at Cheeries. Or to go for a swim at Hornsey Baths. There used to be a Safeways there where,in 75, you could buy American type stuff like coleslaw, and sandwich spreads new on the market. I go there once a week now, even though I'm not far, but it isn't the same place when we were kids. Globalisation and shifting populations hasn't been too kind to the area. So I was wrong: it has changed. Archway has got better.

I’m a road sweeper for the area of Islington you might see me around as I work around the whole of Islington . Trying to get keep the streets clean

What a beautiful borough! I’d love to see a video on Hampstead some day :) thanks for making these videos!

I use to live in Islington best times when I was small,

I'm struck by how many quaint, attractive corners, streets, mews and heritage buildings there are in the borough. Another great vid.
Yeah, Islington is ridiculously photogenic. Thanks

Working on it! No eggs this time, of course.. they'll come when you least expect it.
Well done Dewayne and well done Yeth and well done Anita. Brilliant 👍
Thanks and they both said to say thanks also.

Islington is beautiful. As are its neighbours King's Cross, Camden and Holloway. 20 years ago that statement would be ridiculous.
Holloway is definitely not beautiful
