‘Egypt is closing its door’: Sudan’s refugees detained in mass camps and sent back into war

  • “We want safety, we want stability, and Egypt is closing its door on us”
Thousands of Sudanese refugees escaping the war into Egypt are being unlawfully detained in secret detention camps near the border, then deported back into the conflict without a chance to claim asylum.
More than 500,000 Sudanese nationals have fled to Egypt, but in June last year, Egypt’s government cancelled a visa exemption policy, making it near impossible for them to enter the country through legal avenues.
We spoke to two people who attempted to enter through Aswan with the hopes of applying for asylum. One was deported immediately. The other was arrested and detained for 31 days.

As a Somali living in Egypt currently life is hard here , the cost of living skyrocketed, half of Egyptian already are suffering and can’t cope with economic crisis despite facing many challenges they welcomed millions refugees of different nationalities like Syrians , Ethiopians , Yemenis, Eritrean, Sudanese and many more ..
There are good and bad people in every countries so don’t blame Egyptian for the wrong doings of some bad people . You should know that the neighbors of Egypt like Libya Sudan and Palestine are already in war so don’t put another flame in a peaceful country who’s moving forward.

I’m Sudanese living in Egypt and I completely agree with you. Egyptian economy is suffering and still Egyptians have welcomed refugees from so many places. Egyptians need to put their country first before they take care of others. Yes I feel bad for my people but I do not blame Egyptians. I hope a day will come where both countries will be stable and strong inshallah.

Not to justify Sisi's government actions, but a question was never asked in this video. How many did Egypt take in from the Sudanese refugees, versus other Arab countries? I wish Egypt could take them all, but I really want to know. Shouldn't there be some concerted effort among All Arab states in the region to support the Sudanese? WTF is wrong with people.

Why did you fail to mention Egypt’s crumbling economy that has an inflation rate of 40%, the locals can’t afford food, medication or housing, sceneries of locals eating from trash cans are a norm now in Egypt, does that sound like a good recipe for refugees?? Why did you fail to mention the 5 million sudanese already living in Egypt before the war started? And the extra 100 thousand sudanese that have migrated since the war? Why did you fail to mention that most of those deported were either with illegal documents or started to hold riots in Egypt demanding to take a piece of land in the south of Egypt to themselves and call it “New Sudan”? Why did you fail to mention the total number of refugees Egypt has taken so far from Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Palestine, and Sudan?? Journalistic reporting is supposed to narrate both sides of the story, but I think you got inspired by CNN over here, since you also forgot to mention how this war/ge.n0cide is funded by UAE, and how no other country in the region is trying to help.

He actually did a very positive thing by refusing the moving of Palestinians from Gaza to the Sinai, which is one of Israel's main goals since 1950s. He did honour his legal refugee obligation by allowing 600k Sudanese cross into Egypt since the start of the Sudanese civil war in April 2023. Egypt already entered more than 20k trucks of aid to Gaza by Rafah border and Kerem abu Salem, according to the Palestinian and Egyptian red crescent, and after Israel occupied the Palestinian side of Rafah crossing, Egypt refused to cooperate to avoid recognizing Israel's occupation to Gaza's side of Rafah.

Yes, my dear brothers, my beloved Palestine is the cradle of Christianity and Judaism, and it contains Al-Aqsa, the third holiest place for us Muslims in Palestine. Bethlehem, the cradle of Christ, is a blessed land, and it is the holy land, and it has been our land for tens of thousands of years, and it is the land of the Canaanite Arabs, the original Palestinian people, and they have lived in it since the Islamic conquest in the era. The Umayyad, Abbasid and Ottoman Arabs, Muslims, Christians and Jews are like brothers and neighbors under Palestinian rule to the owners of the land, but the Zionists came and the British occupation brought them to our land as compensation to the Jews for what they did to them Hitler. The question here is that who did the Holocaust, the Germans, why do I, the Palestinian Arab, pay the price? Why not Germany? Why do I, the Muslim, pay the price for crimes? Committed by the Germans and Nazi Europe, fascism is the root of all evil in the world. Our problem is the occupation❤Palestine is an area of more than 27 thousand square kilometers and is on the borders of Egypt and Jordan, which historically is part of Palestine and the people of Jordan, more than 70 percent of whom are of Palestinian origin, but Britain made them a state and brought agents to the Jordanian ruling dynasty in order to rule Jordan and protect the occupation from the Jordanian-Palestinian people Palestine Its capital, Jerusalem, is the land of the Palestinian people for tens of thousands of years. It is the cradle of Christianity and Judaism, and it is the third holiest place for us Muslims. It is a land where most of God’s prophets lived, were born, and died. It is the holy and blessed land and the land of the Palestinian and Arab people. Muslims, Jews, and Christians lived there for thousands of years as neighbors and brothers before the Zionists occupied our land. Britain brought them in the Balfour Declaration to occupy our land. Those who committed the Holocaust against the Jews were the Germans and the West, not me.❤

Apart from that. UNRWA should never have existed.
And the palestinians refugees should have been handled by UNHCR like everybody else.
One might also notice that the enternal refugee status they got by UNRWA did them no real favour.

    MiddleEastEye LINEAGE/Palestine DESCENDANTS
Why is it important who sacrificed Isaac or Ishmael, for Jews and Christians? According to the prophecy in the Torah, the Zabur (Jewish book) of GOD came down to the world, which is called the Messiah, through Abraham, Isaac who was sacrificed and as the beneficiary, namely the land NOW CALLED PALESTINE, which God promised to Abraham, Isaac who had an Aramaic wife, and Yaqub HAD 4 LABAN' DAUGHTERS FROM ARAMAIC EQUIVALENT. 12 sons of Jacob (JEWISH NATION)..then Joseph, to Moses, David, Salomon, until Jesus Christ (Isa the Messiah) 😊. So the storyline in the Bible is connected to his lineage or descendants. Until the Bible verses can be trusted. If you search in the Koran, the history of Abraham expelled his second wife, HAGAR THE EGYPTIAN AND ISMAIL THEN TAKEN THE EGYPTIAN AS HIS WIFE. Expelled far into the desert of Beersheba, and reproduced, and passed down from generation to generation to become a great nation until now WHAT THE ARAB NATION SAYS The Koran should no longer tell the story of Yaqub,..Moses,..Yusuf, Daud, Sulayman etc. But what should be written is the story from the NASAB OR DESCENDANTS OF ISMAIL TO THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD. The descendants of Ishmael and Isaac certainly no longer know each other. And the ties of brotherhood have been severed. I want you to learn clearly without ego, logic and full of honesty. So, try to think about why, the Nasab or descendants of Ishaq, Jacob (Israel), such as Yusuf, Musa, David, Sulaiman and the others are descendants of Jews who are written about in the QURAN, even though Isaac and Ismail have separated by descent. And separated for centuries, and no longer know each other. So the question is... Where do the verses of the Koran come from? . Where does the information about the Jewish prophets in the Koran come from? Is it from the Bible? From there it can be concluded logically...😁

I am your sister from Yemen, and by Allah I only spoke out of hunger and distress. My mother, my brothers, and I lessons and tears. We are in a situation that only God knows about. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs for those who brought us to this situation. By Allah Almighty, I did not write this appeal out of distress and distress. Poverty, O world, they have felt it So, I hope for you. By Allah Almighty, Lord of the Great Throne, he ate what I had in the house. By Allah, my brothers, he is my brothers by sitting in the house. Who has no food? By God, we are in a very difficult situation. We have 6 people entering the house, and my father has died, and there is no one who can depend on us and who lives in it.We live in a rented house because we cannot pay the rent we owe. I am a Yemeni girl displaced from the war. My family and I live in a rented house in Al-Shahrab 15,000 Yemenis among us, and now we owe 45,000 for 3 months. The owner of the house is one of the people who does not have mercy, by God, my brother. He comes every day, insulting us, talking about us, and moving from the house to the street because we were unable to pay him the rent. The neighbors saw us crying and came back. They came back to talk to the neighbors and we were given the weekend. So we made him swear by God. He will take us out into the street. Have mercy on him and us. Our country is due to this war and we do not find food for our day, and my brothers and I live in a difficult life. Our father died, may God have mercy on him, and we have no one in this world who was with us in these harsh circumstances. My younger brothers went out into the street and saw...The neighbors eat and stand at their door in order to give them bread even if they break it. By God, to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, they closed the door and expelled them and came back crying. They are dying of hunger. No one has mercy on them and a holiday is returned. I have made a living, and now if one of us helps us with a kilo of flour, I swear to God, I am dying of hunger. My brother, I am an alien to God. Then, I ask you to help me for the sake of God. I ask you, by God, to love goodness and to help me, even if you can, by messaging me on WhatsApp.On this number 00967717354582 and ask for the name of my card and send it and do not be late and may God reward you with all the best, my brothers Sagar, see how they are and help us and save us before they throw us out in the street, you will be lost or we will die of hunger.
