@@li-limandragon9287 personally I don’t mind Anissa getting a redemption (though I completely get why others would), after all they’re giving Nolan a redemption even after the show made his rampage on earth far worse (he killed thousands of people just to prove a point because he was annoyed at his son). My issue is that they didn’t show Anissa changing like they did with Nolan, in the show especially. She just shows up one day and is like “oh I was bad but now I’m good” with no other context, so it felt disingenuous
My only issue with Anissa is that she never gets punished. Omni man was hated by his family and by earth for killing a bunch of innocents. Anissia never gets anything close to that. After she rapes mark, she finds a husband, realizes what she did was wrong, then dies. I hope they make her character better in the show
Since Omni Man is Argall’s son and changed for the better because of earth and knows how the Viltrumites think, he definite should have punished Anissa for her mistreatment of his child. No one would blame him but he did not. Ir’s embarrassing.
Sinclair never gets punished too, they just straight up offer him a job, I'm not trying to lessen what you said I'm just adding another person who got scott free 😢, i hate what he did
The main problem I have with her character is that she says that she regrets hurting Mark, but doesn’t regret her actions because it gave birth to Marky. Like yeah ok something good might have come out of it, but regardless saying you don’t regret r*ping someone is BEYOND messed up.
They cast Shantel Van Santen to voice Anissa, too. She played Becca on The Boys. If you've seen that show, I shouldn't have to explain the parallels between her two roles here.
When they adapt her "redemption" in the show, it would be interesting to see Scott straight up leave her without even making a note after she admits to him what she did to mark. It'd drive the point in that stuff like rape can't be brushed away with forgiveness. It destroys families and stays with you forever.
when i first read what she did to mark i was outraged and hated her for the longest time. once she was killed off, i was overjoyed. but, now, i look back on it and remember how she has 2 children now motherless. it kind of breaks your heart especially when i grewup without my real dad for 8 and a half years before my mom finally remarried. when she died in 2021 from cancer. i started to think what it felt like not having my real dad and now i no longer my mom either. for a great many years, my step dad and i didn't get along. but, i believe we would have had i been willing to give him the chance to be my dad. these days, it's way different. it should have been that way long time ago.
Her design in the show looks awesome. I felt in the comics she looked kind of weird but in this she actually looks like she has some sort of reasonable intelligence when she says killing humans is bad if viltrum is to take over. She’s obviously horrible but I do like that she is the worst of viltrumites summed up but that’s what makes he change later all that more interesting.
After Anissa has marky I noticed Ryan ottley deliberately drew her with softer facial features and gave her warmer facial expressions I assume she was drawn that way so the readers would better receive her change and or he and Robert kirkman were trying to tell the audience she changed
The crazy thing is, Amber has greatly improved in S2, just in time for her to leave the story. Clearly making way for the true most evil of characters.
It’s good writing. Bad things happens, good people do bad things and the way the show creates scale is pretty amazing, I was really pleased with season 2
My two biggest fears are 1) They just sidestep what she does to Mark completely (I think sexual assault on males needs more serious exposure) or 2) They try and make her sympathetic like the comic ultimately does.
@@li-limandragon9287I disagree. If you don’t redeem Anissa you invalidate the thematic premise of the series. Thragg’s children choose to be better than their abusive father, just like the viltrumites choose to be better than their abusive past.
I love her character I love the fact despite her being over thousands of years old she was able to change and become redeemed also I love her apology and sacrifice to eve saying she sorry for what she's caused but not what she made basically showing her love to her family and son that she never wanted
This. We dislike her because she’s poorly written. Her behavior towards Mark’s absence coupled with what she knows about his powers is inconsistent, but the characters and show try to lie and say it’s a good thing. Edit: I should have clarified that I was talking about Season 1 and will admit that she’s a lot more understanding in Season 2.
He knows that's. From what I've seen, there's this weird team think or feigned ignorance people who say lines like that in defense of Amber in season 1. It's basically the patrick/wallet scene from spongebob. You can break down point by point why Amber or at the very least her character and actions, as they were written to be, were terrible. And every single time, people like this never acknowledge what you just typed or resort to calling you some -ist. I guess it has something to do with her being a woman/poc. Their hard wiring treats it like some sort of logical paradox and can't compute it.
I feel like in S2 they've gone a long way towards realigning her views towards actual sense, where she respects mark but just can't handle being in a relationship with him. And I think they were attempting to do that in S1 but failed lol. I think that scene where he finally comes clean should have been much more ambiguous, where she accepts why Mark lied to her but still is really hurt by it. And I think they've really done that interaction well in S2, and I can handle her as a character now.
@@M.Novast It's not so much a problem with Amber the character. It's a literal mistake by the writers. She did not know that mark was Invincible in season 1 until he told her, and I don't care how much the writers try to gaslight me into believing she did.
People hate her more than they hate Nolan, who's responsible for killing many innocent people. They come from an alien culture. If Nolan could change, then she can change. What she did is wrong but she didn't slaughter thraxans or human beings like the other viltrumites that are shown. Doesn't deserve to be the most hated character.
So you’ve never experienced sexual assault or spoken to survivor good to know man. Christ, by logic we should forgive Homelander or Griffith if they redeem themselves. Plus the show added Nolan’s brutality against innocent people, in the comic we don’t see him deliberately kill a single innocent civilian. He just didn’t care about the lives lost while fighting Mark.
@@IllMatic97She’s done both, difference is she explicitly doesn’t regret the SA. Screw her, at least Nolan went through hell for his crimes. Anissa does not.
Anissa doesn’t suck any more or any less than her brethren. She is arguably inhumane, but she’s not human. She comes from a very pragmatic species with a different set of values. Oh… and she’s a cartoon. I enjoy the role of her character in the story.
Let’s be honest, the only reason more fans hate Amber over Anissa is because they’ve watched the show over reading the comics. Watching is more preferred than reading is after all, but that could change at some point if the show is willing to go down the same road.
No. I hate Season 1 Amber over Anissa, because Anissa didn't seem to realize what she was doing was wrong. Amber knew Mark was Invincible, but still gave him shit and manipulated him over it. She was better in Season 2 though tbf.
@@CatotheE Yup, 100% agree. Problem with Amber in the show is that she is just an awful character that is not meant to be awful. She is completely unlikeable while the show tries to make you feel like she somehow is right all the time. It would be great if they would mention how toxic Amber was in S1, but I doubt that will happen. Anissa, while doing awful things, is at least interesting to read and is also meant to be an awful character.
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t see Anissa doing the straight up assault in the show version. Her dialogue and delivery makes her come off as genuinely well meaning, although she is still very much cruel, cold, and blunt about it; just like Nolan. But she never stops being reasonable, driving home the point that more humans will be better off under Viltrum rule. She even has a line which implies she does not enjoy violence and is only interested in benefiting people; though her methods are of course wrong. I feel like they’re building her up for an eventual redemption already, and I don’t think the assault is necessary to show her become better. Especially since, at least how it’s presented here, her redemption seemingly comes out of absolutely nowhere in the comic. Maybe I’m wrong, I just can’t see her doing it.
@@li-limandragon9287It’s absolutely different. Anissa is a product of an evil species who raised them in abuse and hate. The whole point of the show is how the Viltrumites become better. How humanity makes them better, breaks the cycle of violence, and turns their power into a positive force for the universe for the first time. If Anissa can’t be redeemed, why can Nolan? He’s killed billions, genocided entire civilizations with his own hands. If he can be forgiven, so can she.
@@Lord_Retrospect Indeed. I like to think *I'm* capable of forgiving though. Especially when what she did was just another tuesday activity on Viltrum.
It's important it's included in the show, not just to shine light on the fact that men can be victims which is something todays media and movements don't acknowledge and laugh at, but also because it's vital to marks character development
I also agree on that. I feel like they should include it in the show in a subtle and cautious way possible. To ensure that this sensitive topic is taken seriously and come into a realistic fruition. Men victims deserve to be heard, and it’s also a good call for men who experience S/A to feel represented in a nuance yet impactful way
@@herbly._.grunge Yeah. It's a pretty important story along with its after effects, so it should show how male victims handle such traumatic experiences. I'm glad you agree!
Maybe because Anissa's actions were shown and people ignored the fact that her male counterparts has done similar to her. Or maybe because male rapes is barely talked about or taken seriously
The Viltrumites as a race have to answer to no one, and they rule as the survival of the fittest dictates. So why would human morales of rape and murder apply to them? It's an uncomfortable idea that we should allow TV shows to explore, but in this age of wokeness we find ourselves restricting our freedom to explore more and more and conversely imposing more and more censorship on ourselves. I grew up around the height of freedom when there was very little you couldn't do on TV. Quite frankly I'm more surprised that Amber and Mark are breaking up because I imagine more people will be upset that Mark will ditch a black woman for a white woman, regardless of how well the show handles it.
Facts, That what just annoys me everybody just seems to completely hate her because of that 1 single bad thing she did but everybody else such as Nolan and Thragg get a pass.
Are people "acting like" that didn't happen, or are you just upset that every discussion of Anissa doesn't have an asterisk * where they say "and the male Viltrumites, too"..?
Amber’s character has gotten better. It was the bad writing in season 1. She got mad at Mark for leaving to change into Invincible on campus because he bailed the somehow figured it out between then and the car ride home. When Mark revealed she already knew? But didn’t know it was him saving her on campus. That just made her dumb and mad for no reason. But she’s better in season 2, the relationship struggle with Mark is written well.
@@DylanJo123 your right bro there’s better real life options I get that people think she might look attractive but she still does some of the worst things you can besides mass murder. But also what’s your opinion on the character in general outside of the scene. Edit:Sorry for replying months late.
I liked that they changed her from her comic self instead of the manifest of them she's more logical and wants Mark to think about his actions against the empire
A lot of people seem to hate Anissa’s redemption, but I think it’s an important part of the series and of Mark’s journey in particular. Anissa isn’t any worse than Nolan, not when you really consider all the genocide. We just don’t spend so much time with Nolan’s victims so we don’t feel for the pain he caused, but the moral of the whole series is that death isn’t retribution. Dying for your crimes fixes nothing, helps no one except anyone you planned to hurt in the future. The viltrumite species deserves extinction if we are metering out death for death. Instead their eventual destiny is to live to improve the lives of others.
Doesn't Anissa literally do the worst thing you can possibly do to another human being to Mark? One that you can't say on youtube without getting autocensored?
@@KarazolaX Genocide of millions is pretty bad. I don’t want to downplay r🦍, but plenty of people would be simialrly victimized downstream of a genocide.
Amber from the Show from season 1 is the worst character in the entire show. I don't think your videos can change that. I know how they messed her up. It was the last episode of Mark and her fighting. That got everybody on Mark's side. That is not how you write a character. Anissa is probably better written in the comics but she is also bad from the comics. So I don't know until we see the point of her trying to have Marky. OH GOD. The show is going to have to write her better.
I think Opinions especially when some folks probably don't understand the entirety of Season 1 Amber especially after Season 2 involvement. Honestly, feels like a lot of folks don't get Amber even when she sounds full of it.
In the show Anissa tried to kill Amber but comic book shows Anissa tried to kill his mom Wonder why they changed that sequence plus Mark isn't injured but the show he look like he needed a hospital bed😅
I don't think Kirkman ever truly redeemed her... but he def used her character as a way of showing that the Viltrumites believed their forced occupation of planets across the galaxy was what was best for other species, when in fact it was Earth and humanity that taught the Viltrumites how to survive and truly live.

@@Discount_JesusThat’s why I foresee her just getting killed this time round or not assaulting Mark at all.
What makes u think it aint gonna happen they already made her introduction perfect like in the comics.@@li-limandragon9287
My only issue with Anissa is that she never gets punished. Omni man was hated by his family and by earth for killing a bunch of innocents.
Anissia never gets anything close to that. After she rapes mark, she finds a husband, realizes what she did was wrong, then dies.
I hope they make her character better in the show
I’d rather she gets karmically killed this time but they learn she’s got a son they just made an orphan.
Since Omni Man is Argall’s son and changed for the better because of earth and knows how the Viltrumites think, he definite should have punished Anissa for her mistreatment of his child. No one would blame him but he did not. Ir’s embarrassing.
Sinclair never gets punished too, they just straight up offer him a job, I'm not trying to lessen what you said I'm just adding another person who got scott free 😢, i hate what he did
why does mark even bother with his goggles? every single fight he gets in the fucking things shatter
It looks cool and it prevents his identity a bit more since you need a lot of power to even damage those things.

The main problem I have with her character is that she says that she regrets hurting Mark, but doesn’t regret her actions because it gave birth to Marky. Like yeah ok something good might have come out of it, but regardless saying you don’t regret r*ping someone is BEYOND messed up.

"South park game europe censure pictire"
If they don’t put *THAT* scene in the show people are gonna call them out so hard
They cast Shantel Van Santen to voice Anissa, too. She played Becca on The Boys. If you've seen that show, I shouldn't have to explain the parallels between her two roles here.
When anissa had her foot in marks neck for a sec i thought marky was about to get created even though i’ve already read the comics
Oh God. Invincible's worst nightmare is here.
Getting Assaulted by Chyna from WWE is the equivalent to this😭
Nope Anissa is way hotter than Chyna at least.
Man if they introduce Tech jacket in the animated series they should give him a spinoff show next like in the comics.
After Anissa has marky I noticed Ryan ottley deliberately drew her with softer facial features and gave her warmer facial expressions I assume she was drawn that way so the readers would better receive her change and or he and Robert kirkman were trying to tell the audience she changed
I hope the scene gets animated completely
Great timing bro, and even better video! 🔥
Thank you!
The crazy thing is, Amber has greatly improved in S2, just in time for her to leave the story. Clearly making way for the true most evil of characters.
I still can't get over my head how Mark was able to literally beating conquest head into a pulp but still was abused by Anissa
Amber is hated for being incredibly selfish in the first season and they've done a 180 in season 2
“Anissa over everything”…Would that still be the case if Anissa were a male character who grapes a female Invincible….Simp.
It’s good writing. Bad things happens, good people do bad things and the way the show creates scale is pretty amazing, I was really pleased with season 2
Really curious to see how they handle her in the show
My two biggest fears are 1) They just sidestep what she does to Mark completely (I think sexual assault on males needs more serious exposure) or 2) They try and make her sympathetic like the comic ultimately does.
@@li-limandragon9287I disagree. If you don’t redeem Anissa you invalidate the thematic premise of the series.
Thragg’s children choose to be better than their abusive father, just like the viltrumites choose to be better than their abusive past.
I love her character I love the fact despite her being over thousands of years old she was able to change and become redeemed also I love her apology and sacrifice to eve saying she sorry for what she's caused but not what she made basically showing her love to her family and son that she never wanted
funny how the incel hate Amber and love Anissa these day.
This video feels more like an apology video than a character history video lol.
bro people don't hate Amber because she's "bossy sometimes".
He is just trying to cowardly avoid backlash from the feminists.
She did not know that mark was Invincible in season 1 until he told her, and I don't care how much the writers try to gaslight me into believing she did.
i like her character design. they mixerd her design in the middle of the story and her design at the end.
It's wild how y'all will defend rape when a woman does it
So you’ve never experienced sexual assault or spoken to survivor good to know man. Christ, by logic we should forgive Homelander or Griffith if they redeem themselves.
Plus the show added Nolan’s brutality against innocent people, in the comic we don’t see him deliberately kill a single innocent civilian. He just didn’t care about the lives lost while fighting Mark.
@@li-limandragon9287 stop trying to compare sexual assault to genocide.

Anissa doesn’t suck any more or any less than her brethren. She is arguably inhumane, but she’s not human. She comes from a very pragmatic species with a different set of values. Oh… and she’s a cartoon. I enjoy the role of her character in the story.
Yeah that’s kind of the entire point I made ;)
@@KeyIssues well done. I enjoy your videos very much.
Let’s be honest, the only reason more fans hate Amber over Anissa is because they’ve watched the show over reading the comics. Watching is more preferred than reading is after all, but that could change at some point if the show is willing to go down the same road.
That's exactly why. Also Amber from the show is way different from comics so first time watchers won't know that.
No. I hate Season 1 Amber over Anissa, because Anissa didn't seem to realize what she was doing was wrong. Amber knew Mark was Invincible, but still gave him shit and manipulated him over it. She was better in Season 2 though tbf.
Idk i know what happens i still like her more. She looks super hot dude idk why mark didn't want to tap that honestly.
When the Crater in the episode was shown, I had a mini scare. I thought IT was about to go down.
I love Anissa ever since I heard of her. She’s my favorite character and the show DOESNT disappoint
I just Hope to God That Mark keeps his Guard Up With the Next time She Comes Around If She Decides to Forcefully Copulate With him
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t see Anissa doing the straight up assault in the show version.
I do very main part of the story that’s how he has his first kid
@@Jakefrmstate0I say keep the act throw out the redemption. I’d never buy Homelander feeling sorry for what he did to Becca and this is no different.

Erasing Mark as a rape victim would remove a pretty major part of his development tho

@@KeyIssues true it will be a wimp move if they don’t animate that assault scene
Anissa finally here😍😍😍😍
As dirty as Anissa was, why do we act like every male Viltrumite hasn’t done a hundred times more damage
Good point

Agreed, people give Anissa too much flak. If Anissa can’t have a redemption arc, neither can Nolan or any of the other Viltrumites
