I read they wanted to have it as a main part of the show, having the Enterprise split apart, but due to budgetary concerns (that scene of un/redocking was expensive AF heh) they only did it the three or so times.
@@DrAndounts Original concept IIRC was this was the fighting bit of the ship, and the saucer was the civilian bit, and the saucer would fly to safety in a fight. I think the writers realised pretty quickly this just took up time without adding anything to the story, and the audience wanted to see the whole ship in a fight, so why spend the budget on it.
@@davincent98 The saucer seperations were Encounter at Farpoint, then Arsenal of Freedom, then BOBW2, then Generations. Arsenal of Freedom completely reused footage from Farpoint.
YESSSS!! I think I know the one you’re talking about. I disconnected and reconnected mine so many times it stopped latching back together when I was a kid 😂
@@uniblab_2024 Better than me - I'd throw onto carpeted floors sometimes as a planetary collision. Despite the abuse, I only broke ONE of the two latches!
First time I watched this, I missed half of the video because I completely lost it seeing the drive section doing that barrel roll. Then I recovered, only to lose it again hearing that metal-on-metal grinding when the drive and saucer section attached. Feels like I did a 30-minute abs crunch I laughed so hard.
Just realized that if "thrusters were station-keeping" and "all velocity zero" that inertia wouldn't be doing anything, because they would have stopped.
I would say that Riker's gonna have to pay for that, but since there is no money in the future, I guess he'll be stuck on k.p. duty for the next 20 years.
You... are aware that pitch is whether the thing is looking down or up, right? The spinning the battle section was doing was Roll. (Pitch: pointing up or down. Yaw: pointing left or right. Roll: DO A BARREL ROLL.)
Your videos are just brilliant. With your magical editing skills it would be hilarious if after reattaching it cuts to it being up side down, with the warp nacelles now being above the saucer. Maybe you could then cut between the bridge and engineering with Geordie being flipped upside down.
Admittedly it has been a long time since Encounter at Farpoint, but I don't remember the sparks on the original broadcast. Were they added in a form of post-processing for the video disk release?
@emlowz Apparently the writers have a few times though. It was eventually destroyed. But if you haven't seen the Picard series, there's a nice surprise.
like a glove
Well, that explains the look O’Brien gives Data. 😂😂
“If you can walk away after a saucer reattachment, it’s a good reattachment!” - Comm. William Riker
That shot of Picard with the sparks got me 💀
If this ship didn't explode on impact, it was a successful reconnection.
Those warp bulbs need a changin' though.
Any landing you can float away from...
You had me dying on the floor, man. Just.... genius.
I wish there were more saucer separation episodes
There were a few more until the Best of Both Worlds part 2, then Generations
I read they wanted to have it as a main part of the show, having the Enterprise split apart, but due to budgetary concerns (that scene of un/redocking was expensive AF heh) they only did it the three or so times.
I think in universe, they decided saucer separation generally wasn't worth it.

I like this theme of Picard just randomly going on about his day not having a clue about what's going on, on his own ship LMAO
As someone who owns a metal separatable version of the D, I can confirm the attachment angle is accurate.

"That's what she said."
@@aaronlomas5987 Jesus, dude.
"You broke the ship. You broke the bloody ship!"
The only movie to nearly make me literally wet myself with laughter. 😂😂
Riker was always good with putting it in

And that's why Riker's remains a Commander for over a decade.
“you scratched the paint!”
You always make me laugh. Loved the nacelles flickering.
Thank you 🙂🖖
Well... that's welded now and will never come apart again.
Riker's docking the saucer section again. Stand by life Pods.
The barrel roll 😂
…and I half expected to see Picard spill his tea on his lap. LOL 😝 Well done 👍.
Just realized that if "thrusters were station-keeping" and "all velocity zero" that inertia wouldn't be doing anything, because they would have stopped.
I know. I like to think that the bridge crew were just ignoring Riker and doing it themselves.
Omg I haven't laughed so hard in days 🤣 just brilliant 😂x
Ok this made me lol quite a bit…nice job.
I can see this happening in Lower Decks if the Pakleds steal a Galaxy class and try re-attach the saucer section
I cant see anything in Lower Decks because I would never put myself through watching that shit.
I was waiting for the last sparks.
You didn’t disappoint!
😂😂😂
goddamn thats funny. Enjoyed all your Trek edits, but this one had me laughing all the way through!
Thank you 🙂🖖
Now THAT’s what I call the Riker Maneuver!!!
Not quite the way I remember it but, BWAAAAAAAAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!!😂
And that’s why they only detached three more times-Riker kept shorting the docking system!
The Klingons were so impressed with the saucer reattachment.
Full impulse to the nearest starbase...
"Well done Number One." Not a spot of tea was spent.
I can barely breath I am laughing so hard right now! Bravo!
Ah yes, Ensign Baby Face at his finest, lol!
Hilarious and well done!
your a genius lol
"Don't worry capn', we'll buff out those scratches"
It’ll buff out…..
This was the comment that got me.
"Welcome aboard the Enterprise"
And in _STO_ you can do this repeatedly. They made it down to a science thanks to Riker doing this the first time.
I would say that Riker's gonna have to pay for that, but since there is no money in the future, I guess he'll be stuck on k.p. duty for the next 20 years.
I laughed so hard watching this!
These edits are great, Keep ‘em coming
He had a hot date later that day, dude was in a hurry. 😂
It's the sparks and the explosions and slamming sounds that do it for me. Holy shit, that's funny.
The captain just casually sipping his tea (earl gray, hot) is proof that this is completely routine.
LOL!!! Great Job! Subscribed! 🤣👍
Thank you 🙂🖖
🤣🤣Oh, hooray, Bravo and well done. Star Trek The Next Generation does Airplane. And don't call me Shriley!
The Riker maneuver! Top notch!
I love this so much
Riker looking so proud scraping the paint off the old man's ship, what an ass
About as easy as landing on the aircraft carrier on NES Top Gun 😂
The sparks had me dying
😂 Love it. Subbed 😂
Wait, is this what my therapist is talking about when he says I struggle with separation anxiety?
Congratulations, you broke the saucer's impulse engines. Look, they're off.
(Before anybody swoops in, I know.)
Love the sparks!
This needed the leaning away bit from Galaxy Quest to make it perfect XD
This almost reminds me of Duck Tales and Launchpad McQuack never completing a successful landing.
Has anyone seen Doug? He was doing an EVA, checking the struts...
Oh-
This was nothing he used to shoot race pods thru beggars canyon.
Came across this while taking a break from ST : FC and was like wtf😂😂😂😂
Docking in Elite dangerous 😂
Excellent job. Hilarious.
Manufactured according to Starfleet's incredibly tight tolerance specifications.
That was truly epic! 👏🏽👏🏽
Would love to see this with the Riker manoeuvre and Joystick from Star Trek Insurrection.
Ah damn I thought you were going to have the drive section bump into the saucer then cuts to the generations footage of the saucer crashing lol
My first thought too, instead we got a noob manual landing in Elite Dangerous. 😆
When they take it in for inspection, I'm sure the air filter will need changing!
that's pretty much how I dock in KSP
Oh this cracked me up laughing. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad you liked it 😁🖖✨
"Do a barrel roll!" 🤣
This edit would had cost a large yacht and a house in the 80's
I’m crying, actually crying....just brilliant.
"manually"
Let's be honnest... In the star trek universe something like that MUST have happened.
Star Trek, by Mel Roddenberry lmao!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can't breathe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you 🙂 And I love your idea of having the enterprise reconnect the wrong way around 😂
Tasha’s pained expression suggested dissatisfaction with Rikers docking manoeuvre.
I want to see what u do to a borg cube lol
At least he didn't hot drop it onto the planet below.
Imagine this happening in an actual episode.
It fits!!
😂😂😂

When I was a kid this was the first sex scene I ever watched
😂
Damage control teams to decks 12 to 15
Thought you would have the ship go boom but that's funny too.
I’ll never blow the ship up ❤️

@@dfire351 I’ve not had a chance to watch Picard S3 yet. It’s getting good reviews so I’m looking forward to catching up with it.
Should have dubbed in the Yamato saucer section vaporising on docking lol
I think someone needs to switch to Synthahol. 😂😂😂
Starfleet should upgrade from keyboard controls to a logitech submarine controller.
Ah, Geordi can fix that.
He can fix anything 🖖
yes crying when i saw the sparks

Ease it in there

Oh no 😮😅

Don't worry. It's a Toyota.
