Thankyou Andy Mac. Rory's Bass playing needs a voice and as a bass player myself I have always repected not only Rory, but the silent voice of Calum.......one of Scotlands best and humbelest of song writers. Brothers above any Scottish partnership, but then I am biased. I am a second couson of the McDonald Family.
Calum's percussion adds so much colour to the songs. I love watching him in 'live' recordings - so much energy! And, yes, Calum and Rory MacDonald are truly talented songwriters. So very many wonderful songs - even their '50 Great Songs' doesn't encompass their achievements. Hebridean treasures
Thanks so much for this. I've always loved Rory's bass playing - and his vocals and harmony singing, not to mention his songwriting talents alongside his brother , Calum
Great bassist. I appreciated his bass playing more as I progressed as a bassist. I sometimes feel people overlooked just how much his baselines carried many Runrig songs, Only The Brave is my favourite Rory line. It doesn’t sit still!
Never seen Runrig live, but their one of the reasons I’m learning the bass and singing. Love it, very handy to see and hear what you’re doing, would love to see more.
Hi, Im from Chile, and a great fan of Runrig. I´m bassist like you and Rory. I dont have good ear to get all the notes of Every River, and your parts of this song is to short to get the complete sequence. Can you help me with the Tab of this song. Do you have it?. I would appreciate if you can help me. I just got from Chordify the main notes, no passing notes, those make the difference. Tnx Brother. and nice video.
@@DEERHUNTER1309 The key of the main guitar riff part is simple - Em, C, G, D When the vocals come in its Am, G, Am, C, D, G, D, C. Hope that helps a wee bit.
Hi Andy, where are you based? And can you sing? I’m putting a project together and would be interested to talk with you more. Kristian Clezy (you’ll find me on messenger)

I think it's overshadowed by his immense songwriting! Can't wait for the new documentary! 🤟
@@andymac2935 Did you get the documentary???
I have all the Videos from Runrig, including all the Live Concert. If you need it.
Wow The Ferry! Hats off to you!

Could you do full covers of the songs....Harvest Moon, Flower of West & maybe some other bands like Dire Straits, Status Quo?
Very underrated person is our Rory
I wish there was more in depth information on his songwriting process - maybe a new songbook will be released in the future....fingers crossed.
@@andymac2935 A songbook does exist?
@@andreasweiffen5907 yeah a songbook was released around 2000 I think. They are a collector's item now so almost impossible to find.
Andy Mac indeed very rare on the continent. Some can be found in the UK, but prices have skyrocketed.
Boah toll! Einer, der's verstanden hat! Weiter so! In einer Welt voller grauenhaufter "Musik"
I wish they'd republish the songbook, The Flower of the West. It's currently (2023) selling for over £700 online!!
