Another homemade instrumental recording of an original song which also sounds like so many other accordion songs so can't be that original...
Hope you enjoy it nevertheless.

Very short samples from the 'Searchlight' album which highlight Rorys bass playing, Its not note for note but gives you an idea of his style. The Band From Rockall
Переглядів 20 тис.6 років тому
The Band from Rockall is a duo and solo project of Runrig songwriters Calum and Rory Macdonald. It is also the title of their debut self-titled bilingual album in English and Gaelic. The duo's name comes from Rockall, a remote rocky uninhabited islet in the North Atlantic Ocean, lying 300 miles west of the Scottish mainland. This was chosen by the brothers as a point 'half-way' between their na...

Wheel In Motion is a 1992 live concert video by the Scottish Celtic rock band Runrig. It shows footage from the 1991 Loch Lomond concert, and various others from the tour of the same year.
So different.. Donnie and Bruce.. Both brilliant in their own way, but this with Donnie and backing singers just doesn't compare to Bruce.... 💔💔💔
Donnie is a legend, what a powerful voice
Cho math
Love the video. Thanks for the upload!
Awesome, do you have the tab for these?
Last leave before you died what a hell of a gig. A memory I will cherish .
Only the brave is a just an excellent bass line. Math dha-rìribh!
Going to comment again. Edge of the world. Stunning performance.
yea always loved that track two lassies I knew back in the day on the front row
Controversial opinion perhaps but I thought the later live shows were better than this one. Here Malcolm seems to be playing much more within himself than the Bruce-led Runrig allowed him to, and Rory's vocals are way too far back in the mix (which becomes obvious when he hits the chorus on Flower of the West, Donnie tries to add a lower harmony part but he's far too loud and it doesn't work).
I agree... Backing singers as well, not such a pure sound in my view....
R.I.P bruce ,seen the rig with both him and donnie, wish they could do a one off with donny
Tapadh leat Bruce airson do ghuth iongantach ... bidh mi ga ionndrainn - gabh fois ann an sìth
So happy they chose to play final show in the city of my birth what a night , never forget these guys 💙🎶
I shall be listening to my favourite Runrig songs when i travel through Isle of Skye & Harris in summer in my car , god bless Bruce 🙏
What an amazing book of golden stories.......💙🥃🏴💙
Runrig and Bruce solo, gave me so many good concerts, in Denmark. I am still listening to the music 🎶
So So sad for the loss of Bruce Guthro, great singer, R I P
I just discovered them a little to late as I’m writing this and browsing the internet. I now they retired in 2018 and lead singer passed away but I love their music. I will have to purchase there music from now on. I’m American and have always loved the Scottish people but someday in my older age I will visit your country and never leave !
I was at their last gig, right at the very front. I cried after the gig. And I wasn't alone. It's a miracle Stirling didn't flood. I remember Iain Bayne when he was a 16 year old working at the record shop in St Andrews on a Saturday when I was a student there. I bought a lot of records off him.
God rest @bruceguthro, I'm heartbroken, taken before his time. May he find peace.
Loved Runrig went to 3 concerts rest in peace Bruce so missed thank you for the beautiful music.
I wish they'd republish the songbook, The Flower of the West. It's currently (2023) selling for over £700 online!!
Thanks so much for this. I've always loved Rory's bass playing - and his vocals and harmony singing, not to mention his songwriting talents alongside his brother , Calum
‘ I heard, You tamed this land by Instagram’ today. Runrig did biopic movies so well .. 👍
so so beautiful. I will love Runrig forever
Who else is watching this again, after the sad death of Bruce Guthro, who recently died aged only 62yrs old? It has been such a shock to us all, may he sing with the angels.
I only recently found out about Bruce's passing and was very saddened by this as he helped keep Runrig alive after Donnie left. Many wonderful years listening to them, their music really reached a part of my soul as an Australian with Scottish roots, I can't explain it but it feels like they helped fill in a gap in myself that is perhaps my Scottish heritage. RIP Bruce and thank you Runrig for all the years ❣
comes to us all.enjoy what you can
1 år i dag 🥲
Bruce was simply fantastic
Rewatching these shows from Nova Scotia hometown of Bruce Gouthro..days after his death from Cancer ..GONE TO SOON BUD 😢
Far far far too soon, oh bless him!!
Rip Bruce, the angels have a new lead singer tonight. God bless you Bruce 😥💔
We have a tradition in the car each summer when we visit the Highlands. Stick Runrig on when we’ve nearly made it to the holiday cottage! Blast out our favourite tracks as we drive through Glencoe.
Wie schön.
I was at the last London show, and many tears were shed. These guys had been such a huge part of my life for over 40 years. Runrig is gone, but the music and memories remain forever
Uabhasach mhath a rithist, tapadh leitbh.

Hi Andy, where are you based? And can you sing? I’m putting a project together and would be interested to talk with you more. Kristian Clezy (you’ll find me on messenger)
Thankyou Andy Mac. Rory's Bass playing needs a voice and as a bass player myself I have always repected not only Rory, but the silent voice of Calum.......one of Scotlands best and humbelest of song writers. Brothers above any Scottish partnership, but then I am biased. I am a second couson of the McDonald Family.
Calum's percussion adds so much colour to the songs. I love watching him in 'live' recordings - so much energy! And, yes, Calum and Rory MacDonald are truly talented songwriters. So very many wonderful songs - even their '50 Great Songs' doesn't encompass their achievements. Hebridean treasures
Mòran taing. A beautiful film, with wonderful music. I had not heard of this album before.
What a lovely interview! Such talented songwriters. And what an achievement! 45 years!
Runrig will never cease to be! ❤️
There wont be any band like runrig again. World class band 💙
How can a band with such poetic songs and huge following , just stop. Clearly they still enjoy it. Today's music is bland and undistinguishable from each other. Come back RUNRIG and show the world how it should be done. You're missed.
Hi, Im from Chile, and a great fan of Runrig. I´m bassist like you and Rory. I dont have good ear to get all the notes of Every River, and your parts of this song is to short to get the complete sequence. Can you help me with the Tab of this song. Do you have it?. I would appreciate if you can help me. I just got from Chordify the main notes, no passing notes, those make the difference. Tnx Brother. and nice video.
Miss them all so much play their music and DVDs every day.
I miss them sooo much.. my mate n me go to Harris walking..every year and driving up the M5 at 3:30 am to Uig to get the ferry..with" Road Trip" on full blast was the start of a great week looking to our seeing our friends katy and Neil Mackinnion at Grosebay..
My nieces go to Isle of Eigg every year, my family are from there,we spent all our young days there miss Runrig❤
The Song "The days" is my favourite. It's so beautiful.
I have only just now found this video. Didn't know that there was an album by Calum and Rory. I listened a lot to Runrig in the 90s but regrettably never made it to one of their concerts (Making up for it now via UA-cam videos ;). Wish I could let Rory and Calum know how deeply their music touches me and how healing I find many of the songs, which support my journey through long covid. With appreciation for the music 💛 and many thanks for uploading this video🙏
I got excited all over again as the crowd surged forward when the curtain was dropped. This was the most incredible gig I've ever been to
Rory and Calum don't just write songs, it's also poetry! The lyrics over the years are nothing short of beautiful!
Runrig, ACDC, Iron maiden only 3 bands that successfully replaced their lead singers. Only just watched Runrigs story from the start. Brilliant.
Love it 💝💝
Loved and will always love this band.
I can not understand why Callum never sang at concerts only occasionlal backing singing , he is good
Runrig will live on in our hearts.
Always, always❤️
rory callum and donnie love for ever------------------------:) -:)-:)
