@@alexproductions8122 it is a joke from the game, the main character guybroush treepwood stumbles upon a giant monkey head atleast 5 times the size of him and says 'wow thats the second biggest monkey head i have ever seen' implying that he has seen a bigger one which is absolutely absurt and therefore the joke. it is a running gag since then

It's my fault so many ppl got the chords wrong. They're all using my original arrangement from 2005 which had wrong harmonies in there :-)

Hi Wasp! I learned to play most of this song thanks to you. I took some liberty to alter the beginning part where you're only doing the one hand lower chords, and I changed it to have the rhythm of the drums building up to the beginning of the chorus! I usually fail at the later parts of the music but it's still pretty purdy. Thanks Wasp!

I learnt your original back in 2008, here your Em-D-C harmony works really well and improves the feel of the piece vs the original Em-/D-Em!
Hey, Em D C G Am Em is indeed the correct harmony. In my old video I played Em D Em G C B which is wrong :-)

Because I found this particular arrangement and tried to play it and it has E D E as well, not E D C and it sounded strange to me :/ now i play my own version partially inspirated on that sheet and partially the way i played it since my childhood. What I'm still trying is to get the opening chords well... Anyway, yours is the best version i've ever heard on youtube. Well done!
@@zsorosebud Thanks for your comment! The sheet music on gamemusicthemes.com wrong. It IS my original arrangement but not all of the harmonies in there were correct. Check the video description of THIS video here for my revised arrangement that I used for this video :-)

Awesome! Best piano version I've been able to find on UA-cam. Could you explain how you use the pedal for this piece?
He doesn't, it's the vibrations of real piano strings, which gives this music its "carpet of sound", as we say in germany. He might slightly "tap" the pedal sometimes to keep up the smoothness, I cannot distinguish it. But it's hard to master and maybe not worth trying until you finish the whole song. He makes one exception tho, which is great in my mind, on the second page, in the second tact: It's during the transition of the bridge into another melody. Gives the whole passage (and as a stand-alone element to the whole song) it's well-deserved magical touch. You wouldn't wanna miss it :')

Klavier ist ein kawai k3 (AT-II). Wie leicht bzw schwierig ein Stück ist, ist immer subjektiv. Ich würde vermuten dass mein monkey island arrangement "unbequemer" ist.😉

***** I think it sounds great! I actually bought a new piano a couple months ago, Kawai K300 with Atx2 - 100% Acoustic piano with a digital system! Best of both worlds!:)
I have the Kawai K3 (AT II). It also has a digital system I use when playing during the night. It's the older generation of AT however and doesn't have a USB port so I can't use it to record stuff. The sensitivity of the keys (when using the digital system) is also not balanced so some keys are much louder than others, repeated notes generally don't work well at all.
***** I have that problem to, with repeated notes(I also have double notes when playing staccato), but that is a problem with the mechanic in itself, so it affects the acoustic playing as well. Im actually having it delivered at the shop to be fixed. I have talked to the director at Kawai US and EU, both say that thepiano and the system shouldnt behave like this.. so I really hope it can be fixed, if not I might swap it for regular kawai k 300, without the atx2, and just get a normal digital piano instead, after all, the system costs 1500bucks, and I did get it for recording.. if it doesnt deliver, I dont want it..
I have translated the first bit to gp6 and tried playing on piano. And just wow. The left hand part is so crazy in the beginning. I simply stopped trying. Piano is a very different beast unlike guitar, I used the gp6 method on many virtuoso pieces and with a bit of effort they were easy enough to brute force into muscle memory. But what the hell is going on with piano, so many differen ways to play even a simple chord. Mind blown.
Do you have any advice for where to start on piano? I currently find brute forcing boogie riffs (linking the left and right hand finger combos in brain rather than true independence) easy enough but this kind of play is absolutely mind blowing.

There's something about these games from the '90s. The limitations in graphics, sound, music, etc. really made the developers focus more on story and make the best out of the tools they have.

Hello, I don't really have any specific advice since I don't know where exactly you're struggling. As a very generic advice I'd suggest slow practising, dotted rhythm practising, etc

+Rapsody93 Not sure. Frankly speaking, there's not really much to make a tutorial on. Teaching what notes to press is pointless considering I wrote my revised arrangement down, so anyone can play it. Technically speaking the piece doesn't really contain any difficult bits that would justify a tutorial :)
