Monkey Island 2 - Woodtick (Full version with ALL subthemes) (Piano Cover + SHEET MUSIC)

- Hey,
In this video I perform "Woodtick" from Monkey Island 2 with all its subthemes for each room. I tried to adjust the ingame footage so it's aligned with each of Woodtick's subthemes as well.
In my original Monkey Island video from 2005 I only played the Woodtick theme that plays in Wally's room (the cartographer). For this video here I play it quite differently compared to my original arrangement of it, mostly because I like it softer and thinks it better fits with the rest of the themes this way.
The basic arrangement used is Leibniz154's, I've heavily modified it at certain parts. The original arrangement is available here: www.mediafire.c...
Hope you enjoy my video and please subscribe!

I just love Wally's theme. Used to just stand in his room for minutes and listen to it.
thaquothLP Thanks :) Yes, it's an awesome variation, it's my favourite along with the one playing on the Hotelier screen.
Same, very atmospheric and dreamy. :)
Minutes? Me and my brother sometimes had Wally or the carpenter or bar tender just running for hours in the background... :D
Jan Omg same, i only started playing the game the other day but it’s definitely my favourite version as it’s so beautiful, I wish I could find a 10 hour version of just that online. I’m gonna have to make one myself it seems 😅
Just Another UA-cam Channel if you do start at 8 in the morning and if you do a ten hour version it should be over at 4 in the afternoon
Wonderful execution. I've been carrying Wally's theme in my heart for 30 years. I remember playing Monkey Island 2 for almost three months during the summer of 1992. I'd start playing at around 11 in the evening and go on until late at night, with the window open and the muffled noises of a silent and torrid city. That theme always seemed to me a bit out of context, so melancholic and nostalgic, compared to the ironic mood of the game (Rapp Scallion's mood is no joke either). I'm almost 50 years old now, but I remember that summer very well, unfortunately I can't travel in time, but at least memories remain. What a wonderful game.
Hey, thanks, I'm glad you enjoy my rendition :-)
Thank you for sharing this. I played this and other games with my dad when I was very young... Memories are still there even though our relationship took hits over time..
He's 61 now and I feel anxious knowing his time is limited. It's sad I probably won't be able to create memories like those with him again..
Thank you for sharing this!
Wally's theme been in my head for 30 years now, very often. Touching.
What a beautiful comment
This is just great. I still remember when I first played this and I noticed the way the music would change dynamically as you walk from place to place. I thought that was the coolest innovation in game music I'd ever seen. I'd spend forever just walking back and forth between areas at different points in the song to hear how it would transition. I also love the music in the swamp, where it adds one instrument at a time as you get closer to the Voodoo Lady's hut, and takes them away one at a time as you leave. I'd love to hear you play that one as well.
ME TO!!! Epic bass line
Like is not enough for this. There should be a love button.
This video is a bit long since it includes all of Woodtick's subthemes, hope you enjoy and watch it nonetheless :-)
awesomeness cannot be too long :P
+w3sp Sadly you forget the Pirate theme on the washery.. BUT... all in one good.. i throw you a B+
Thanks :) It's one of the best and most memorable soundtracks from the whole series imho. Probably because when you first start the game you're spending a lot of time there :)
Absolutely well played and not nearly long enough! :D Could listen to this all day. It is so relaxing yet keeps interesting due to your smooth transitions!
Genious. :)
I played that game when i was 10 or so. Im 32 now. Such great memorys. Thank you very much w3sp!
You are welcome! :-)
I remember having the original two games on floppy! - Dani
i play it when i was 8 i am now 17
@@maty2781 Same man!
I sleep my son humming this theme every single day. You know, trying to put a seed deep in his little brain, muehehehe.
Decades later, he will send showers of fear into the hearts of his friends, when he shows a deep understanding for hilarious puzzles and stumbles legendary words about "graphic adventures", demands for "lucas arts" when going to a museum and stops playing the piano (which he never learned) only when you show him a banana.
You are doing fucking right, mate!!!
Dad, suddenly I want to be a pirate.
Me too 😍
My god the 1:33 transition to Wally and the track itself are incredible.
Sensationell gut. Und das ohnehin schon geniale IMUSE-System ebenso genial in die reale Welt portiert. Tolle Erinnerungen! Danke, danke, danke!
+aiko150781 Gern geschehen :-)
Awesome video! Actually a great explainer for how the iMuse system works. Nice job 👏🏻 👏🏻
I can’t stop listening to this. Magnificent.
Wally breaks my heart. I hated taking his monocle. He's so cute and sweet, and we don't know what happens to him at the end of M3 :(
Dandi True, I'd love to see Ron Gilbert start a kickstarter project to create a new Monkey Island game in the original graphics/design (similar to his current project which will be the sequel to Maniac Mansion).
+w3sp Yes, please yes. I would love to see that as well.
@@w3sp Sooo, what do you think about the latest news?
@@Englebert3rd Hehe, I hope I'll find the time to play it...and that'll include some nice catchy tunes ;-)
pure. gold.
+Schatzliste Thank you :)
The 2 dislikes are Largo LaGrande and Le Chuck !
Addictingly awesome! The visual presentation is very nice, too.
I found your channel by looking for Woodtick theme covers yesterday and when I scrolled through your videos, I realized that you're "w3sp" from "w3sp strafes". In the middle and late 00's, I watched a lot of Q3 and UT2k3/4 frag, defrag and trickjump vids and I remember that "w3sp strafes" was one of the last ones that I watched (and was impressed by the jumps, of course ; ) ). Maybe because my interest in these videos declined , maybe the video output of the scene declined, maybe both. I haven't played and followed any PvP online shooter in ages, so I don't even know if videos of this kind are being made anymore.
The transitions makes this a masterpiece. I think if Michael Land hear this he'd get a warm feeling in his heart just like I have now ❤️🔥
Thank you for this. I'm in the process of trying to do the campfire song on ocarina as a beginner and I hope I can be confident enough to make a video one day
This makes me so happy, I can't believe it's been 10 years since the original medley video!
This made my day. I've been playing bits or this all my life. The music and all the variations of the them. So much fun
Ive listened to this quite a abit and i enjoy it so much but i also love how it all comnects together seamlessly
That was the intention :-) Emulating the iMUSE feeling 🙂
Great job nailing the transition between the different versions depending on which room you’re in, just like iMuse!
30 years later and I've never forgotten this music and the dynamic changes as Guybrush went into different areas of Woodtick. I absolutely love this!
Thanks for making more people aware of the magic that was the dynamic Woodtick Theme in original
It's really impressive!! All Woodtick's songs are played on piano exactly!! I was so happy playing this game and this music is really sounds nostalgic for me! Goosebumps on Wally's theme! LOL
The original video back in 2006 was probably the reason I started playing the piano years ago. It sure is a damn fine surprise to see all this songs updated on your channel. I just wanted you to know that videos like these bring such inspiration. Keep up the good work!
Hehe, I'm glad my video was an inspiration to you. Thanks for the kind comment!
No problem, mate! It's the least I can do. By the way, you don't happen to know what kind of style this song and "Jojo" are, do you? Or some other songs with a similar structure? I reckon it's something similar to German or English folk songs. It definitely doesn't sound like anything classical.
This really brings me back. The only thing you're missing is the theme changes when talking to the Men of Low Moral Fiber
This video feels like finding and old and long forgotten photo album after decades. Upon opening all the memories are back and overthrow you with a warm, warm shiver.
Thank you so much, mate :)
Hehe, you're welcome. Thanks a lot for your kind comment, happy to hear you enjoy my video :-)
You are a fucking piano GOD! Can't tell you how much I enjoyed these videos of both monkey island and Indy and the last crusade (as I am in Venice right now and went to se the church of San banarba yesterday (trying to find the manhole cover that actually didn't exist but was put in for the movie for the "ah Venice..."-effect :-))
People like you are an inspiration to real hard-core fans of the old adventure game genre - so as a fellow pianist/Indy fan/adventure game geek - from the bottom of my heart
GRAZIE MILLE! :-D
It is one of the most beautiful songs in gaming history! :) And very good written with all those transitions from room to room. Just stunning.
OMG this is a mesmerizing performance, and really brings back the memories of the atmosphere of the game.
I only now realize that the theme in Largo's room is a mix between Largo's theme and the Woodtick theme.
Awesome!
Cool great job. I used to spend hours going in and out of scenes. The composing of all the different transitions between the rooms is amazing in the game. Different every time. You dont get that with F.mod. M. Land is a hero. Helped me survive a shitty puberty.
Just taught myself the Wally part in the last couple of days... the video helps a lot, since you perfectly figured out the chords. Thank you, I'm really enjoying it!
Your agility is impressive by the way.
Thanks :-)
Great to see that you upload in the moment so many covers from Monkey Island. The music of that game is amazing.
Just perfect! I listen this all the morning at work, and i work happy!
Super gemacht und immer wieder gut! Das nächste Mal (also in etwa 10 Jahren) bitte in einer Komplettversion das gesamte Spiel begleiten - das schau ich mir dann auch im Kino an ;)
Noch fünf Jahre ^^
Love this! I wouldn't choose to shorten this and I'm glad you didn't.
friggidyfrank Thank you :)
listening to the original MIDI music while playing the game was lovely already. But hearing such beloved music in "real piano sounds" is extemely pleasant. Cheers!
Saludos desde Argentina.
I love the cartographer to outside transition, it’s sick
Thank you :-) The seemingless transitions between the tunes in the game is really amazing.
One of the best renditions ! Great work, any chance you could do some tracks for Indy and the Fate of Atlantis ? Lava maze is my favorite =)
god its so so cool how the different versions all blend together so seamlessly in the game :') this is amazing
This is wonderful, thank you so much!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :-)
Perfekte gute-laune Musik, ich habe es als Kind geliebt und liebe den Soundtrack heute immer noch, tolle Performance von dir!
Wally's theme is so relaxing.
That performance, sir, is worth a million dollars. Thank you.
I’ve listened to this so many times, fantastic work!
Thanks for watching my video, glad you enjoy it :-)
Amazing, perfect, extraordinary. You sir, win.
Waaas du bist deutsch? Na dann: einfach nur schön:) besonders der Wally-Teil:) Vielen Dank!
Lieben Dank :-) Freit mich, dass dort mein Video gefallen hat!
Amazing! It's like the iMuse system in a person! Fantastic! :D
This is really fascinating to watch and listen to. Very nice!
This music brings me back to my childhood.
Very well done !
Simply amazing! It's the second better video I've ever seen! You can almost compete against the i-MUSE system from LucasArts. This is an absolutely great video! I love this series and its music and you have made a marvelous cover.
Thanks, glad you enjoy my Monkey Island video :-) It's one of my childhood favourites that I remember playing with my younger brother.
This is so great! Do you have the one where Guybrush sits by the camp fire with two others in the beginning of the game? That was always my favourite melody from this game.
Aggg, I could never played in the piano this song, it's so complicated. Very good job, thank you
Einfach Super!! Da kommen alte Erinnerungen hoch.....vielen Dank!!!
+Matthias Kluth Danke, gern geschehen :)
Love the game, the soundtrack and your effort to perfectly and lovingly let us feel the Guybrush-Tune. Music piece is art so is your playing....I CAN FEEL AND LOVE YOUR LOVE.
Absolutely brilliant. Genius. I love it.
okay..... this needs waaay more views!!! this is a fucking masterpiece!!!
Thats awesome! You are great! And the music is brilliant!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed my video!
Really awesome versions! I still lack the ability to "switch" hands completely like you do on some pieces here, on those where you play melody with left hand and chords with right. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for doing all these songs from MI series, they're so great and you perform them perfectly ! Please keep it up ! :-)
Thanks w3sp! So glad to have you back on here making amazing music. I'd love to hear you play some music from Nier.
Brilliant cover
Nice!!
The game of my life, you imitate the mix midi sounds perfectly!!
Congratulation and thank u
Wow w3sp grat performance, I absolutly love it. Brings me straight back to my youth
Wow - great job! You're a true master, w3sp!
SharkandMinno Thank you sir! :)
this is incredible, thank for this nice moment i just had
Masterpiece
Thank you for uploading such beautiful renditions. I just love your playlist of monkey island piano covers. The Phatt Mansion themes are the best! Did you record on an upright or grand piano?
Everything's recorded on an out-of-tune upright piano ;)
Doesn't sound that much out of tune. Are you also performing live?
Generally yes, but haven't for a while now! A bit more busy with working regularly these days and recent inquiries weren't really attractive enough.
I love this so much ❤
cant.get.it.out.of.myhead. SOOO AWESOME! I r3eally love your piano plays dude :D
Very well done indeed!
Id love this in midi format. I just learned a simplified version of the scumm bar from the secret of monkey island. So fun and satisfying to play
The Wally one!
The best one.
The three low moral fiber pirates one the best
I am an engaged, bearded, busy and muscular male in his end-30's. I like motorcycles and fast cars. In the military I learned how to kill and how to survive.
This brought tears to my eyes :)
This is so great! Thank you for making this!
jasrdunn You're welcome! This tune has to be one of my favourites from the entire Monkey Island series I think.
That was amazing. Thank you.
I love this man haha , very beautiful and excelent compass
Please post the music, I must learn this before I’m too old!
See video description =)
It's astonishing. What are you, a cyborg?
Just a man hunting for the Big Whoop.
Ha, this is excellent, thank you very much for sharing this.
That was beautiful.
This is perfect. Thank you.
This is so fuc**ng awesome! You're my hero! Please come to Barcelona and make a concert!!
I love how the mood is set when Guybrush meets Wally
I think Wally is my favourite subtheme of them all.
@@w3sp So we all agree Wally has the best subtheme!
This is genius! You are amazing! I will try and learn this stuff once i have my digital piano!
Thanks a lot :-) Let me know how you're doing once you started practising this =)
This made my day!
Very nice!!!
Insane. Keep up the good work.
Great Work!
i find myself whistling the music from monkey island - especially walley's theme - quite often 😂
This is amazing!
So perfect!
I never noticied how the main theme changes but remains the same tune in the whole city. I bow before lucasarts, they really knew how to freaking do games
These perfect transitions from room to room. Still one of the best music tracks in video games!
According to Ron Gilbert and the team it was the most complex iMuse track they made.
Incredible
Great Cover!
Thank you :-)
Hey man, i freaking love this track you've played ;) i have played monkey island myself back in the day and i want to play this song myself. i don't really like the original sheets by leibniz though, do you have any possibility in uploading your modified sheets? this would be deeply appreciated ;)
Drilloth hey, sorry but I never wrote this down :-) besides the wally theme and the intermission bits I followed Leibniz arrangement pretty close iirc
Great news, Dominic Arturo, the voice of Guybrush Threepgood himself just liked this on Twitter
Awesome! :-)
Oh, very imusing!
Wow... and here I thought my way of playing it was pretty good.
Back to practice, I guess!
I applaud you!
Brilliant!!!
good work dude :-)
Nice!!! From Brazil.
