I own a 2020 Roscoe 8 and totally agree with your assessment on Trek's failure with this 141 Boost snafu. I may look into this setup, but for now I will keep running the original wheelset. I just replaced the freehub body because one of the ratchet paws broke. Plus I replaced the axle bearings in the rear hub because of play and roughness. I have made numerous upgrades over the last three years and still loving the bike.
Pacific Cycle the MFG of Schwinn and Mongoose uses the 141 boost QR. I'm doing the same with a new Ryde Trace25 29ER Mountain MTB Bike Wheelset Tubeless Origin 8 MT 3100 hubs 15 x 100 12 x 142 Trace.
thanks for your video dude! i made the same set up as yours for my old 2019 roscoe 7 i’ve got the same axle adaptor and rear wheel! love the rapid drive hub with 6 pawls!!!
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks I may be interested. Did you run this wheel with the 40mm rim in the front. Does it ride okay with the 10mm difference in rim width between front/rear? Let me know the condition your wheel is in.
I'm getting one Roscoe 8 2021 for 1500 brand new 😮. Planning to try and use 27.5 2.8 setup that comes this bike but after I would like to try this upgrade, where's the link of the wheel you ordered?
Thanks for the nice vid mate. My Roscoe 7 rear wheel is also garbage but didn't realise until after the year mark. Tried to rebuild the hub but is beyond it.. Just wondering what the numbers after the "wheel" "pawls" and "springs" in the description are? Trying to get hold of these parts in Australia!
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks Ah cool thanks - googled the numbers and just got rubbish but will chat with my local Trek dealer and see if I can source. Thanks again!

142 TA is the best option as it is cheaper than the 148 to 141 conversion.
Agree on the big tyre comment+ it's more expensive to replace. Thanks for the info on rear wheel

For anyone watching this in 2023, I ordered the wheel and it came with the 3 extra pawls already installed.
Also you will need the rotor spacer.

The center of that adapter is for a 5mm skewer QR is is not a 9mm hole.

Great video man, How do you install the pawls and springs to the hub? Working on bikes is still very new to me. Thank you
Its really easy and the basically the same across all brands. Theres lots of videos out there on it.
Great Video, is the axle adaptor 12mm to 10mm with 9 mm QR 142mm wide?
Thanks
yes
The adapter is a 142 12mm to 10mm QR. Inside diameter is for the 5mm skewer.
What about chain line? What offset are you running on the chainring?
offset didnt change
Okay, so I assume your running a 3mm offset.@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks
IDK know, sold the bike awhile ago@@thanasimamais320
@@thanasimamais320 Yep, 3 mm difference in chain line. No big deal
What was wrong with the wheel for it to get a warranty replacement?
the hub internals are garbage
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks So they sent you a new wheel because the original one was garbage?
@@Gamer-ade Trek replaced it under warranty. Google the subject theres a ton out there about it.
Only issue I see is the chain line will be off by 3mm if crank chain line stays stock. 141/148 hubs are wider.
No its only a 142mm hub over the factory 141mm.
