just wanted to tell you, thank you for all you do for us, the veterans.
Hey thanks!
- Clay
I served from 79 to 85. There was no GI Bill at that time. The Vietnam GI Bill ended in 77, and the Montgomery GI Bill started in 83 but wasn't retroactive. What a ripoff.
Yeah, those VEAP years sucked. We received nothing like any GI Bill.
I served 78-01. I missed all of it by a hair on both ends. Paid my own, and wife and I paid 52k for my son.
Life is Good, but it ain’t Fair.
I gave my CH 32 to my daughter while in service in 2014 and use V&RE for my current degree program
Daddy Clay always feeding us kids with good info!
Thank you so much (for the donation not the daddy 😂) increases in GI Bill benefits are a big win.
Edit: I realized what shirt I’m wearing in this…

This channel is one highly informative channel - Clay you do an awesome job for us vets - Thank you - and Thank You for Your service
Need a 10-15% across the board increase for monthly disability payments
Transferred my Post 9-11 GI Bill to the oldest kiddo, huge help to establish her adult life without a huge college student loan debt
If you’re able to set your children up for success without getting into debt…GODSEND
- Clay
Some of us got screwed out of the GI-Bill. The non-GI Bill Service dates were between 1977-1985.
Correct. We had VEAP, which was BS.
Those of us who got out in early 2000s and used the MGIB also got the short end. I got a whopping 12k to pay for school - not even close to covering it. Even though I was technically eligible for Post 9/11, I could not use it because I had used all of my MGIB benefits.
He is speaking of post 9-11 yall not anything else
@@micaelamccormick3963 there's just this assumption, even by vets, that all of us got GI Bill. There's a whack of us who didn't. That's all.
@@wiggyjones I know I think everybody that truly served in combat should have a choice rite out of the gate when they ets out honorably they are helped in attaining there va benefits or there helped rehab back to the world properly and then helped get into a college if they so choose so we should serve those who served us but we dont we serve immigrants vets get throwed to the way side left for dead it took me 12 years to find a vso that got me to 90 percent
Thank you Clay! Very thankful for your knowledge share.
Thank you Clay appreciate you!!
Doesn’t include me, but still gave you a thumbs up…. 🏴☠️
Always pay it forward and thank you
- Clay
Glad still have 36 months, using VR&E RN
Anything about passing the benefits to your children?
Thanks for sharing
Vietnam Combat Veteran,
Where were you in 1973 when I needed your [common sense knowledge] on everything VA.
Turned down 3 times for VA Health, [disabilities, I. we had no clue.....]
In 2005 on the 4th try Under Agent Orange I was granted a VA HEALTH ID...2O12 granted service connected for hearing/tinnitus/ left/right Achilles tendinitis with leg cramps and muscle aches/bilateral foot plantar fasciitis, plantar neuromas metatarsalgia.
Watching you and submitting your "BIG 3" I approved for
Persistent depressive disorder with anxious distress.
I love the VA. My Docters, and 90% of caregiving staff.
Thank you.....
Assie/Cossi.
Only because it is you, did I click that thumbnail
GI Bill goes a long way
- Clay
What about for chapter 35 any news on that because i would love it if my wife can attend school here in the Philippines and ive yeard there's some kind of a 50% only given to her because is out of the USA
so GI bill better or VR&E? my original plan was using VR&E for associate and bachelor, and using gi bill for master
Reverse that. Use your GI Bill for the undergrad and then use Voc-Rehab for the MS. I did exactly this. Dont burn all your GI bIll though as it comes into play I cannot remember why? The Ed counselor for Voc will assess your disabilities. I have a MH rating as most and this is where in my case the focus was. So if you are rated 70% PTSD and want to pursue an advanced degree in in Criminal justice they will question that. So, suggest you pursue something that's compatible with your disabilities. They also look at your earnings and where you are in life. Not solid for all as it can go all types of ways as some are approved and others not. I was ask "don't you think you should pursue a higher rating? I said NO I want to work and better myself past my disabilities. I was approved and went to Embry Riddle and they are not cheap. I am 70% and do well $$$. Better money and not stuck at home though I probably should be.
Post 9/11 GI Bill excludes combat veterans and veterans in general that fought in prior wars.
I am looking for a job, and I keep finding programs that can help, but they only support post-9/11 veterans. NY has temporary jobs but only for post-9/11 veterans. Wounded Warrior Project helps post-9/11 veterans. Why isn't anyone fighting for the old veterans? VR&E is almost useless if you are pre-9/11 and have a family to support. I am happy for the rest of you. Just pissed that I keep getting left behind and forgotten about. Keep in mind that one day, you will be old, and they may create a new program for people your children's age and cut you off.
I mean politics and the state of the country aside. The military needs to stay competitive. I mean, like you ain’t going anywhere with just a B.S./B.A. these days aside from federal work or normal work. Everything of note requires a Masters Degree or a combination of a Bachelor’s and various certifications. On top of work experience in that field, which you can’t get experience in the first place without any of that beforehand. I genuinely believe the military benefits should be a BA and at least into your Masters to some extent. Couple that with actual commitment to keeping veterans housed, so either a debt forgiveness program or the VA Home Loan should be a guaranteed 300k with an honorable discharge minimum. VA Health Care should automatically be given to every Honorable Discharge and Medical retiree.
Don’t get me wrong. These benefits are FANTASTIC if and when they are used accordingly. But, the value is slipping. Maybe it’s temporary in comparison to the economy and work force, either way it is unable to convince a lot of young people.
Idk, I feel bad because I feel like I’m being ungrateful, and I’m not. But I also feel like, something ain’t quite what it was sounding like.
So, is the VA compensation going away or will increase?
Hey Clay, I need your help can you take a look at my decision letter?
I went to the mobile unit you said would be able to do c and p exams at and it isn't true. Wasted 4 hrs of gas and time.
Gotta make sure they have both mobile exam units and VSRs, clearly stated. Confirmed 1 event is VFW National Convention Louisville, KY July 27-Aug 1

The Post-911 GI Bill: Does it expire or no? I always find conflicting articles that say theres a time limit or that there's no expiration date.
Depends if you got out pre or post Jan 1, 2013. Before = yes. After = no. Before has 15yrs.

@@TheCivDiv Thanks Clay! I appreciate it and all the content you put out.
I used my GI Bill for my Bachelor’s degree.
Word. Any plans for grad school?
- Clay
@@TheCivDiv Nah it took me 6 years to complete a 4 year degree with a year of credits already under my belt. TBI’s make it super hard trying to do school (or at least mine did).
Did you get a job from it?
@@alexdinero8284 I believe so. I work in the same field and was the top candidate because of it and my military service combined.
@@SoulMoonsRising Congress and VA get points on the Board! Alright! 😀
Why can’t they let us veterans use our GI Bill to pay off a spouses student loan debt?!! I know you can if you were married prior to ETS. But why can’t we choose to use it if married after ETS? It’s our benefits let us use them. My spouse has student loan debt and I do not. And I don’t plan to use my GI Bill at all. So it’s just going to waste now.
If marrying a service member cleared student debts, they'd be a bigger target. People will be divorced as soon as the spouse is debt free. It's probably to protect veterans lol
Yes, I used the GI Bill. Now I do have a question. I went to ITT Tech, and they were shut down for fraud. That being said, can I get that money back?
Any VA reports on the effectiveness of Post 9/11 GI Bill getting jobs? year spreadsheet column | our money spent column | # actual number jobs placed
When I got out there was alot of talk about the ability to use your GI bill as basically a "payout" to start a business but I've never been able to find any information on it. Is this real if so do you know the name of the program or what I need to search to find more info on it? Starting to thing it's a veteran started urban legend
@@warlord.aesthetics7088 I remember the same thing and recall it was legit. Though cannot say I am 100% sure. It might have been one of those programs they tried for a few years and then got rid of.
What is Project 2025? Are we going to lose our benefits? That's scary.
Gave my GI Bill to wife, she received her BA using it
What is chapter 30 full time be benefits amount?
Any changes for chap 35? My youngest son and wife use that benefit.
The proposed FedReg I briefly showed was about a form to collect and formation on the veteran during the application process

Ty very much for your intel. 69 yr old Vietnam era vet DESPERATELY would like to ask you a couple of questions centric to my case- I would publically post & im sure I’d get good advice but I’m seriously overwhelmed & would really dig one intel vector point. I do not :insta, link, the other one with a “D” that sounds daunting. I text and email , I know, kinda stuck, but there’s reasons for this as well.
Pension was taken back in 3/20, w/ a solution being intel I CANNOT source. Please can you respond with an email address ? I’d join your group but have 000$$$ to work with. Not asking for monetary help, just intel I can act on to get back on track. Been burned b4. Overwhelmed Army Airborne vet says thanks.
