That was freaking amazing, as I could not even envision what it was going to look like when done, until you had finished. WOW! ...and that was a pretty ingenious trick with the Duct Tape to get the little square cubes to stay in place where you could glue them in exactly where you wanted them with minimal (if any) mess. WOW! Can't wait to see what comes next.
The shot of turning right out at the end of the wings was cool, it looked like you were turning nothing! Stunning work Andy 😁👍🏻

Even the way you put glue on is bloody clever. If that was me there would be far more glue on me than the wood! This is gorgeous, a lovely clean, deceptively simple modernist form.
I have never heard of Meranti. It is a beautiful wood with a subtle grain. Nice job.

Thats what amazes me, I would never think of half of these techniques. Just when I think he's gonna go one way, he surprises me and goes completely opposite lol x

I love the checkah-checkah sound when you start turning the raw piece.
The German word „drechseln“ for woodturning captures this perfectly.
And I love it when the sound changes into a soft chchchchchchch when it gets smoother. It is extremely satisfying.
And of course the result is amazing. Such a cool and minimalistic design.

Great idea, beautifully executed! Very brave to go with a recess on such a thin piece. I always get at least one imperfect corner on these type of turnings.
