What a Brill weekend that was. Hope to be there again this year. The woman showing off her wares thinks she`s in Paris on stage with all the other Can-Can Dancers, not at Blackpool Tower in a Northern Dance off! But the other great dancers made up for that.
As a northern soul aficionado of 35 years the woman in the flowered dress and black vest gets my vote for enthusiasm and her obvious joy dancing to the music.
I watched a guy 30 years ago I thought, dance out of time...recently I found out the Rumba, the cha cha is danced on the beat of number 2 rather than the beat of number 1, or two, three, four. Maybe he was Latin and into Northern Soul, maybe not, but hey! give them a break, we all like to dance...do, do, do, what you feel!
I love the bit where she is cleaning the floor with her skirt ( I believe that's called 'the mop' ) then does a single push-up!! Wacky!! The best northern soul dancers are always smoooooth...

The 'lady' should not be doing those kind of 'moves' wearing a skirt. She looks more like a lingerie/bare flesh exhibitionist, seeking the wrong kind of attention.

What with backdrops, splits, hands springs, and running up walls and back somersaulting off them, And been able to to spin like he was an ice skater on ice, As well a some lightning fast feet work. People assume it's a northern dance competition not "anything goes" so you will get comments when people dance differently.

I don't agree - I have never seen a ballet dancer do a back drop or other northern moves. Everyone copies at some point - that is how you learn the northern styleIf you know Carl how is he doing? (we all did it). All styles of dancing require work and practice so I am not sure what you mean by "what comes natural". Are you the guy in black or not? You talk now as if youu are another person.
