My daughter who's just turned 18 is crazy about the scene. I took her to her first NS event recently in Skegness because that's what she wanted to do for her birthday and everyone was so welcoming and kind towards her. Thankyou everyone for making her birthday probably the best one she'll ever have.
My niece Lauren!!! Whole family is so proud of her. Fantastic!! Sweet soul music has been in the family for ever and it is great that it is still there. Love what these young people are doing with this culture- awesome stuff!!
How can anyone not say something positive about this? Great stuff, thanks for reminding me how people can dedicate themselves to something they obviously love👍
Loved watching this, I'm 27 years old from Nottingham and I have learning disabilities and anxiety plus health issues. Ever since moving in with my mum and stepdad in 2020 due to the pandemic they have introduced me to Northern Soul and I have also been learning the dance moves, we go to Northern Soul nights every month and I love it.
i dont know why anyone would comnent negatively on such a wonderful video. The new generation coming through helps keep the scene alive. great work mate. KTF ✊
@@Tippy2forU can you get away with saying that?? The big R word comes to mind. I do agree with the sentiment. Have a look at Soul Train line dances from 70s.
wtf...why are there negative comments..well done all...superb dancing..a passion that no one would understand apart from those that are into it..enjoy ..and ktf..xx
I actually saw Tony Galla preform this song when it came out in 1966 at the Allentown Art Festival, in Buffalo New York, on the Parks Department Aqua blue portable stage. Just the beginning of the 'hippie' 6o's in Buffalo! It was a beautiful, sunny day, thousands and thousands of people at the massive event. Our life was ahead of us. Oh, to be young again!!!
Thank you for making me remember. Thank you for making me feel young again. You listened to the music and you let it move you. It was beautiful to watch - (It reminded me of my friend Kimbo back in the 70's)
I used to go to school around 76 in Golborne about 5 miles from Wigan Casino. At the time you either liked heavy rock or northern soul. I was a rocker but over the years Jve grown to love Northern Soul. Great to see these youngsters "keeping the faith"
Tom, I think the generation of today couldn't even begin to understand what it was like to be part of the Northern Soul scene, you had to be there...the passion, the commitment, the music, it's not hate....just cowardly ignorance on the internet, thanks for the upload!. keep the faith!
But the northern soul scene is still going. it isn't over by any means. I guess you're mistaken by saying "today's generation couldn't begin to understand what it was like to be part of the northern soul scene", in which you should have said, "Today's generation don't know what it was like back when it started". It never ended
At 0:50... Guys starting before the beat started... It's good to handle the techniques but never forget to LISTEN to the music you're dancing to. The girl is a winner! :-)
I've been there......In Thailand of all places.....If you don't know the song...and I've Never heard this one...ever...It's very difficult to get the beats, kicks & splits to match the song.....
I didn’t know anything about Northern Soul until I saw this video. Thank you so much for sharing it. I’m completely dazzled by all the dancers. And the young woman in the video is a goddess! Love to all of you from Singapore!
As a music fan............more into metal and punk, I love the passion of Northern Soul people, and haters are just sad, jealous nobodies, probably into Coldplay or Rap yawn.
Great vid ..brought back a ton of memories . I particularly liked the lady off camera slurring " she's won it - she's fucking won it ! " ...haha ...made my day x
Ah don't worry about the fools that are dissing this, this video is fantastic. All three are very good, at firts i thought the girl was best but then I looked closer and watched it er about another 50 times or more. Now i think they did choose the correct winner as the guy on the left has this ease about him and appears to be almost gliding around. Absolutely brilliant video, certainly my favourite for this year of all the vids I've seen on youtube. Well done to the three terrific dancers and thanks for uploading it.
If Lauren didn't win the judges have no soul. Moves on the beat not just to show off... kick (or spin) into a back drop was one of my staples, she does it with such grace. Excellent.
The gal won this hands down . Liked her dance movements , eg: jumping front kicks , splits followed by the back-drop , she killed-it :) lol ... Gooo Lauren !
You never had room for that crap unless the place was empty. The guy on the left is clearly the most technically gifted. It's easy to say the girl was the best as she's in the centre. Good dancer but the other guy was better.
Good on everyone that bothers to get up and have a go at these events and well done those that record them. I stumbled on this clip whilst Googling northern soul dancing, as I love dancing generally but am intrigued by this genre - so it's very interesting to see this kind of footage. Great fun to watch (wish I could do all those splits and lunges like that, but suspect I would do myself a mischief!) Thanks for sharing : )
i have just watched that again, if I had of been a judge, that young lady would have won it, brings tears to my eyes to see my trousers move so soullingly Roxy ROB
Fantastic to see the young people keeping this great scene alive, ignore any wankers who post hate stuff, what are they doing here anyway, they could never feel this music. Great to see a girl winning also, she was great {they all where}
Thanks for the upload, referencing different video for a call back. It reminds me of slower version of shuffling which I enjoy doing. I should be able to dance like this.
Love love love Lauren! She just got an awesome style of her own. Dancing is all about rythmn and style and she so has it. otherwise too enjoyed watching them all dance. Thanks for the video.
Hello! This is Lauren (the girl dancing in the video) thank you so much for the lovely comments! ❤️
You should of won this girl
Just found this video you are absolutely fantastic.
Did she not win?
I have arthritis and I love to watch this as it is great to see people move and dance like this.....in my mind I am dancing with them....thank you
Same here Fran ,I did all the Bham night clubs until a bad fall ended my fun for good , but I live it again through youngsters like these x
