    FAQ: What is the shelf-life of home-canned goods?
    As long as the lids/seals are intact to the jars and there is no evident content spoilage (discoloration, foam, froth, malodorous, or any other obvious signs), they are good for many months or years. "Looks good, smells good, is good". We have eaten our home-canned foods that are upwards of 10 years old from the original processing date. When in doubt, throw it out.

      Give canning beans a try, it’s rather simple. We like this large pressure canner, as it is great for canning large batches. Thanks for watching!

    Love your canning videos. The All American I bought is smaller because we don't have the space between the stove & microwave for a taller one. Never thought about a separate burner unit. Duh! 😄 Please, more canning videos. You'll motivate me to can more. Blessings.💜

      Thank you for your kind words. Having the portable burners are wonderful, especially for our tall canners. We use them for canning and using tall stockpots. We hope to produce more canning videos. We have a son getting married this weekend, so have been busy with this special event. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Below is the link to where we purchased these burners from. We have 2 of them and they sure are handy for canning large batches. Our double-decker canner doesn't fit on our kitchen stove due to the microwave being above it. We've used these burners for the past 6 years and they are great! Good luck with beginning to can your own food!

    Got a question, can you add Hormel diced ham pieces in the beans, Pryor to pressure canning? For seasoning of course.

      Hey! Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to each pint jar or if using quart jars, add 1 teaspoon. Be sure to use non-iodized salt. Thanks for watching!

    I noticed that you use an electric burner for your pressure canner. What brand is it and where did you get it. How has it handled the weight of that pressure canner? Is it still holding up? I don't have a gas stove and my wife is worried the weight of the pressure canner will eventually break the glass top of the stove with its weight.

      Our portable burner is made by Cadco/Broil King, a solid cast burner in stainless housing. Model PCR-1S, 1500 watts, commercial cooking appliance. Purchased from Amazon.
      Handles the weight of our All American Pressure Canners just fine, no issues at all. We’ve been using these portable burners (we have 2) for several years now, no regrets.

    How much for pints and half pints of different type of beans?

    • @OutdoorsandCountryLiving
      @OutdoorsandCountryLiving  Місяць тому

      This video uses pint jars and processes them for 75 minutes. Quarts are processed for 90 minutes. As for half pint jars, it’s not recommended to can dried beans in them for safety reasons (expansion). Beans are beans, timing is the same for all kinds.

    The beans are already preserved by being dried. What is the benefit of putting them into the jars? Is it just to save time so you don't have to cook the beans when you need them?

    • @OutdoorsandCountryLiving
      @OutdoorsandCountryLiving  9 місяців тому +2

      It’s good for when you make chili, soups or tacos too. Just a preference we have and we can better control what we are consuming. Thanks again for the comment and question.
