I still say “wowie wow wow wow” ever since this was originally on SNL years ago! Walken’s desperately sleazy character was so memorable in all these crazy “Continental” sketches.
Thanks for letting everyone know you are a very unoriginal person.
I knew I wasn't the only one constantly quoting the Continental 😂
Me too ❤
We see where Borat got his "wowiee wow wow".
I never noticed that before!!
Accent not that far off
Exactly!
I found where Christopher Walken got it! A character in the sub B film "Wild Ones on Wheels," 1962.
yeah and his overall behavior towards women
i like watching this and imagine a big masculine cameraman with one glove and diamond bracelet holding christopher's hand.
Is that because one sketch after showed exactly that? I forget what season it was but kind of disappointing lol
You are way to kinky go take a big Mac.
That's actually how they filmed it.
@@kindspirit7 It was a special feature on the Best of Christopher Walken DVD. I know, because I have it.
For this different one the cameraman had on a full wig and dress too: ua-cam.com/video/WNCOFJnpPGs/v-deo.html
Christopher Walken is something else. Talent and versatility is an understatement to describe his range.
The piano player in the background deserves a glass of chamapangna!
Es un deleite su comentario.
Christopher Walken has the most memorable skits as a host (Cowbell, Continental, Colonel Angus etc)
Walken family reunion
BINGO
Yes ,,, he is fabulous
Boulevard Of Broken Balls.
Googly Eyes👀
the continental sketches are some of the best snl pieces EVER produced.
Totally agree! You don’t see them often enough. I looked forward to his “Theee Continental “ with plenty of chompagn ya! He is amazing. I hope soon he returns to SNL and give us more skits for the younger generation to learn how to become a “Walken Ladies Man”, Smoke jacket and all!!💋💋💄🙃
Why? I could never understand what was supposed to be funny about these "Continental" sketches.
For me, they rank down with Mike Myers "Sprockets" skits.
@@maestroofamore8948 the Sprockets skits are so good! i think of them (Continental included) as just stupid fun
You're probably not the only person to enjoy those skits, I just don't know what they're about or why they're 'funny',@@storgs.
Love these sketches their hilarious!
If anything needs to be in VR it's this
Пётр Тенетко then it'd be too scary!!! Hahaha!!!
please no
Somewhat disagree
I'm getting an image of the Continental answering the door with a VR headset and gloves on groping the air in front of him only to realize what he's doing and hastily removing it, lol.
you got my vote!
this is a cool escape room concept for sure
Still laughing in 2024. 😂😂😂
I admit it. Thanks to Christopher Walken/ The Continental, I sometimes refer to champagne as chamapangna.
Sometimes? I always do it.
Ah a man of culture
Me too! 😁
And BMV?
Me too.
OMG!!! The way his face be looking after he gets punched. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
She talked him into it😂😂
Notice he has a telescope at the balcony, which I'm sure he uses to peer at "heavenly bodies."
Thanks for making The Continental available. Walken's humor is...is...I have no words for it.
Incredibly hilarious 😂
Oblique?
Absolutely flawless 👌
His humour is Wowie wow wow wow! 😂😂😂
I love how much you can tell he enjoyed playing this ridiculous character.
He always seems to be enjoying himself. I think that is part of what makes him great
His having an absolute blast in this role & I love every minute of it. This character was perfectly made for him!
The look on Walken's face after she pops him in the face the first time killed me LMAOOOOOO
Me too I fell out of my chair lol
He's so wonderfully smarmy.
I love imagining Walken and his wife Georgianne playing "Continental" games when they're alone. Complete with white gloves, smoking jackets and "shompagna", of course.
I imagine him too, but his wife isnt with us lol
@Jamie Hartley I didn't know that. Thank you for telling me. (It's doubly sad in light of the fact that Walken, unlike so many Hollywood people, didn't treat marriage as a revolving door, and took it seriously.)
@@tadimaggio its a joke.
I love his face after she punched him
Lmao reminds me of Kermit the Frog
Lenny 5:11
I never remember it as funny as the next time I watch it! LoL
He punched him.
I laughed at this video many years ago and I'm still laughing. 😂😂😂
This is one of SNL's best sketch series, I laughed so hard seeing them live and they are still so great! I love Christopher Walken in these, it's all ridiculous but filmed & written in such a great way.
Love how the final segment of this the pan away and show that it's a big crew guy wearing the glove of the "lady", hahaha - He's looking into the eyes of a crew guy when he's saying all these insane things every time, lol.
i was the crew guy@@yellowblanka6058
Would have loved to have seen them live! My absolute favourite sketches & Walken is one of my all time favourite actors & comedians! His brilliant! The writing was perfection! It's truly a brilliant concept having only the hand shown of the lady & her not even having to speak. It's a work of art!
You’re lucky!
If I ever get my own ritzy Manhattan condo, I'm putting a "The Continental" plaque on the door.
Across the hall from mine!
I'll leave one of my gloves so that you can invite me over for fine French champagna.
@@mollycanfield1210 A most soigné bouquet, hn?
Make sure the periscope is included.
😂😂😂
The old saturday night lives are the only ones we can laugh at anymore...
Whoever wrote the script.....well done, sir/ma'am. Well done!
For those who don't know vintage television history, these skits are a parody of an actual show from the 1950's. "The Continental" was a 15 minute romantic monologue delivered to the female audience by this suave, debonair Italian guy, Renzo Cesana, who publicity promoted as an Italian count and member of one of the leading families of Rome.
The first season of "The Continental" aired on CBS from January to April 1952 on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 11:15-11:30 Eastern.
A second season aired on ABC from October 1952-January 1952 from 11:00-11:15 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays. In the ABC version, the Continental would meet up with couples on their first dates.
Great information! I will try to look up some of those from the 50s, thanks for sharing that 👍
I have been watching this skit since I had it on the Best of Christopher Walken dvd, back when physical media was a thing, and could not understand why this was supposed to be funny. Now that I have an explanation, I understand why it should be funny, but still don't understand how people find it funny. It's like when they had Danial Craig be the construction worker that was bad at cat calling women. I get the joke, but it's just not a funny joke.
@@timmywashere1164it’s the absurdity that makes it funny, in real life a man would deserve those punches, but as a sketch it’s just so ridiculous to see someone behaving like that it’s funny.
This is just classic Christopher Walken at his absolute best I love it so much and it really took me back here in Phil Hartman's voice I miss Phil Hartman so much he had such comedic timing and such a golden voice
Phil was so good. RIP Phil. ❤
My favorite part of the sketch is the way he sends up the periscope. Exactly like you’ve seen in every submarine movie ever made.
He sounds like russian taxi driver with noble roots ;-)))
Watching this at 3am and I'm laughing hard! One of the best skits on SNL! Christopher walken is a genius!!!
I always liked Christopher Walken always a great actor in anything he does.
Check out the video Come and Get Your Love video it’s phenomenal you will just smile
Christopher Walken literally played someone with the title “Emperor of the Known Universe” yet all I could see watching him play the Emperor was Cowbell and “Wowee Wow Wow!”
Chris does not get enough credit for how great of a performance he does for this guy.
What makes these skits so classic is how you can tell he’s trying not to laugh, yet you only see a smile let loose. Golden SNL skits.
Don’t know / how / he cannot laugh at himself
And I've never seen him break, but here he comes close to it😂
The Continental is hilarious! 👏🏼😂
He is so awesome love Christoper Walken. He is so talented. A well crafted actor to say the least, I love all his movies.
Haven't seen this in years, and it still makes me laugh out loud!
How could you not love this...
christopher walken is great at comedy :)
He's great at everything he tries
Champagnia! Please I insist! Wowie wow wow wow! 😂😂😂
I have pronounced champagne like him ever since these sketches, it's one of the best things SNL ever did.
I LOVE the way it's pronounced..!🍾🍾🍾
I couldn't stop laughing at this as kid, and I can't stop laughing at it now!
4:38 always gets me when he says
Hey 👋🏾 have it some Bombón 🍫 it’s from Spa~ia 😂🤣😂
It contains rhinoceros horns
(she threw the bombón back)
😂😅😂
I love it how Chris has a hard time not to laugh. xD
Sham-pahn-yah! 🍷
Since seeing this skit, it's the only way I can say it now!
Walken is frighteningly good!
This was one of the best sketches ever I love Christopher walkin
It's a little eerie hearing Phil Hartman's voice introduce this sketch knowing that he had died three years prior.
HE DIED!! WHEN?
GET OUTTTA HERE.. SERIOUSLY!
@@evm6177 His wife killed him, years ago. I still haven't gotten over it, and I feel it has been 20 years or more.
@Patrick Whelpley Newsradio was the best! So many great personalities came out of it. First time I recall seeing Joe Rogan.
This skit is actually from the early 90s. Don't know why it says it debuted in 2001.
@@thewhip4 possibly debuted on UA-cam.
More Cowbell.
Why are we all watching this and it’s still so freaking funny?? 😂
Mann I love these sketches but ngl every time he blocks the door I get a bit anxious 😭 I legit feel terrible for laughing
This will never get old. Just brilliant 👏 😅😂
The punches 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
some of the funniest i've ever seen.. love this skit
Wowie!!!
Borat copped that.
I use that phrase, and my friends gets annoyed with me lol
@@wellina3457 Keep using that! Wowie!!!! I wish you and your family the best! Wowie!!!
He sounds like my grandmother (she is from the Czech republic)
Oh, my God! I kinda knew he was gonna trick her into smelling chloroform!!!! After 2 episodes of The Continental, you'll know! Walken is a genius!!!
Chris Walken's character reminds me of Claus Von Bulow. Walken is so cool.
He can be as funny as he is scary.
And super hot lol
This must have been the inspiration for some of Borats mannerisms.
I don't know how he does it. I am crying with laughter! This is the funniest thing I have seen in many many years! Thank you so much!
YES!!! The Continental !!! Loved this character, hilarious. Every Christopher Walken appeareance in SNL was GENIUS, the guy affraid of his plants was terrific 😂🤣😂.
True comedic genius in these skits!!
Man, he dropping all type of game- for free...
I wish there were more episodes! SNL, please upload them all!!
I saw one before this, when the gloved hand was applying for a modeling job, that episode is also on the DVD we have, titled "The Best of Christopher Walken "; it also has the "making of the Continental", the gloved left hand is definitely a blonde woman, her right hand is holding a camera, and near her is a man handling Walken's cue cards. This "Anticipation " episode , I'm not sure, I might be seeing it for the first time ...
His face after he’s punched killed me
Oh those man hands of the supposed woman on the end, lol! Chris, cracks me up every time when he does this character!
those hands were mine
Brilliant!! When he first get punched... Lost it 😂🤣😂
I think this is the best role of his life
This is epic and classic Christopher Walken you have to understand how awesome this skit was when we first watched him perform it we loved it because it was hilarious.
I remember watching this skit way before I knew what exactly SNL is and loved eeevery bit of it. Christopher Walken
He is trying so hard not to crack up 😂
Show the complete version of the one with a pink glove, she's choking him and sprays his face with mace!
The Continental is iconic for the John Wick movies and these SNL sketches. The wowie wow wow was also used in the Borat movie. Such legendary acts
The Continental ..still makes me laugh...out loud!
The Continental...having moving gadgets to check out girls in his apartment. I see where Barney Stinson learned this lol.
Christopher Walken's character is so blatant and cheesy in his seduction, I laugh until I cry. True comedic genius!
Love to watch The Continental, my favorite sketch on SNL ever period .
Walken is a genius...
I feel like he's making this up on the spot 😂😂
These were so funny even before I learned about the real Continental subjective camera TV spots in the 50s. Walken is incredible!
Robbie R. Esq. Where can i find these old ads?
I couldn't find video, but you can listen to the audio here: ua-cam.com/video/FHlKaPyi9Rk/v-deo.html it's incredible.
For everyone asking, I’ve been searching for video footage of Renzo Cesana’s Continental for years. I’ve yet to find them posted online, but I’ll be sure to come back here should I ever succeed.
I love when the camera guy has to act :D
I love how one guy in the audience is having the time of their life. I don’t know anyone who would laugh at someone handing a person a piece of paper 😹
his life
I'll say this about the "Continental", at least he's blatantly honest (or they're thinly-veiled at best) with his intentions, lol, vs. the guys in the "Girl in a bar" skit. Also, his reactions when he's hit are always the best.
Christopher "Twisted" Walken at his finest! Now I feel like heading out to the package store to get a fine bottle of Veuve Cliquot Brut champangana....
*Such a Classic skit. This is the kind of comic genius that's been missing on SNL for more than a decade or two, such great comedy at its very best, Wowee wow wow wow, time for a glass of champainya!*
WowEEE WOW!! Walken needs to do this character in a movie, he can totally sell it! 🍷 CHAMPANGIA ENJOY!!
This is pure gold.
Aromatherapy Starts shaking the bottle of chloroform like a creepy psycho I’m 💀🤣😂
Christopher Walken it’s a beast on these skits
He’s a very underrated actor.
After all these years, I for some reason remembered seeing this as a kid and hearing the weird way he says "Champainyeah" and well, here I am
This is one of the most brilliant comedy skits I have ever seen. Wow!
Christopher Walken is a Genius. So well written and perfectly played. I have to say, and I believe that I can speak for everyone, including Senor Wences and Thing from the Adams Family, the beautiful white gloved actress doesn't get enough credit for her Grace and Perfection. She is truly committed to the part and expresses such an elegant emotion. I believe that we have witnessed a rising Star in Show Business. Bravo !!!!
Arguably one of the funniest skits ever on SNL!
Walker keeps proving once again that he’s the best!
You gotta give it up to everyone involved in the continental sketches they did so good 👍 🎉
He is so suave. Yet someone who can place an idiot. You nailed it. Like everything you do.
I wouldn't be upset if I found out christopher walken was spying on me I'd almost feel honoured
LOL. This is one of the best scripts and skits ever and so incredibly funny. Christopher Walken is the best.
Red Bull killed me x))
I love watching Christopher Walken struggling with his jokes and impersonations. LoL 😂
How is he struggling?
Greatest punch ever 👊
This is dumb. And it's silly. And I can't stop laughing :)
