love this split view. its just wonderful seeing it from all points of camera views:) thank you so much. and as always, thank you to the people responsible and the wonderful mr. walken:)
I wish we could see the original Marty & Bobbi Culp routines. They're kept off. Plenty of clones, but not the originals. :( That & The Continental are 2 of my SNL favs!
I thought it made the sketch so much more interesting. Being able to see christopher's body language and he up close shot made it better in my opinion.
This is great! I have a friend we are taking out for her birthday at a restaurant called "The Continental". I thought sending her this video was most appropriate!!
i love this christopher walken skit he did so awsome he hosted snl 3 more times.... one of the best actors ever... he could do it all comedy, horror, gangsta, love, everything... u guy's gotta see the other snl skit with christopher. i think its called LOVERS with Will Ferrell
"I let the little head do the thinking for the big one. What can I say? I'm a guy!" Yep, men could claim that a lot. Some of the funniest stuff ever on SNL.
I had just watched a Continental sketch and wanted to see if there was a behind the scenes video. Wow, there sure was! I was just curious to see the camera person, but wasn't even thinking about the cue card guy and cable handlers also being so involed. Very impressive! I imagine today they'd use a wireless camera, and maybe even a tablet teleprompter above the camera for the actor's lines. It would be much easier for them.
I LOVED "THE CONTINENTAL" WITH CHRIS! SO CLASSIC AND FUNNY! I LAUGHED SO HARD!!!! IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!! I ALWAYS WONDERED WHO'S BIG HAND WAS ON THE DOOR. NOW I KNOW! LOL! 😂😅😊😂❤❤❤. I NEVER KNEW IT WAS IT WAS A REAL SHOW ACCORDING TO CHRIS WHO WATCHED IT AS A KID.
Wintage Champanya !! Jackie Gleason (RIP) once said that he knew a lot of comedians who could be excellent dramatic actors but didn't know of any dramatic actors who could be a comedian. Too bad he didn't live long enough to meet Christopher Walken.
I have to admit you're right - Jerry is the godfather. Still I really appreciate the outstanding choreography and writing of the SNL skit. As for cuteness - you're the expert.
This was some choreography to pull off Not just with the camera but also the cue cards. The man handling the cue cards had to know his exact cues on when to get out of the way so the camera guy can run away.
at 0:53 ? I think the cameraman had an itchy leg, but he had to keep the camera steady. Scritchyscratching it would have made the camera shake, so he stroked it.
This really shows how truly difficult and complicated making these sketches can be
I can testify to that....Im the cameraman.
Christopher Walken should have been in the John Wick films. He could’ve been the Continental staying in the Continental
The skit was funny enough, but even seeing how it’s filmed and cameraman also reacting, makes it funnier
What a dance! What a performance. This is not easy to do.
wow
Walken on SNL.. never disappoints!!! Just watched his GOOGLY EYES skit and it’s so good!! Love anything he does
Props to the camera guy for not cracking up
That was fun seeing both views. Loved it.

One of the funniest SNL skits of all time!!! Nothing beats Christopher Walken on SNL.
I wish we could see the original Marty & Bobbi Culp routines. They're kept off. Plenty of clones, but not the originals. :( That & The Continental are 2 of my SNL favs!
"I must confess, without the Frogs, my cuisine--excuse me, FÜD--has suffered." 😂😂😂
I applaud your umlaut-wielding skills. 👏👏
so this was how The Continental was recorded... hahahaha!!! Oh, my God!!! Walken is just too good!!!!
I respect SNL for keeping Phil Hartman's voice in "The Continental" sketches.
Also Wayne's World and Church Lady.
I always wondered how they did this sketch, this is really cool. The Continental is classic.
This kills some of the magic of the sketch, but it's also amazing how much goes into it and how many people are involved. Awesome.
I thought it made the sketch so much more interesting. Being able to see christopher's body language and he up close shot made it better in my opinion.
Brilliant!
How can they keep from laughing 🤣🤣🤣
sometimes I didnt...I was the camera op
Clearly the cameraman is the star of these skits. He juggling like five jobs at once.
AND wearing a dress, wig and heels too.
@@4seeableTV : Those are not heels.
This is great! I have a friend we are taking out for her birthday at a restaurant called "The Continental". I thought sending her this video was most appropriate!!
THE CONTINENTAL were always my favorite guest sketches.
Hey Yo We got an SNL group over on the Facebooks--- Search Facebook GROUPS for: Saturday Night Live Super Fans --- come say hi.
3:52 lol he grabs the guy's cue cards to adjust them so he can read them

this is brilliant on so many weird levels. I have always thought Walken was first of all a comedian, he would have made an amazing joker.
Now you’re talking!
Holy crap, YES!
OMG these "Continental" skits are THE BEST! Wish I could find the earlier ones somewhere!
I have them!
@@poppaboppa6000 dude I came to comments for the sauce, can you hook it up?
Oh, how I love this!!! One of the best SNL skits EVER!
Brilliant the way they execute these sketches.
So awesome. Writers, skit, and Walken doing a great job as usual. I envy the whole set up.
The best SNL skit series ever!
I love a glass of fine champanga.
wintage
Walken is the best!! I adored this when they did it on SNL> Thank you for sharing!
I wish SNL could get together with Christopher Walken and possibly record a new skit in complete 1st person virtual reality...
that would be sick!
This was so awesome to watch --- thanks for posting.
I love that they kept Phil Hartman's intro. Miss you big guy
Favorite part when she bops him on the nose and runs
"YOU KNOW CHAMPAGNYA COMES FROM FRANCE ....
I LEARNED THAT IN BARTENDING SCHOOL "🍾🥂🤣❣💖💋🍃🧚♀️🍃
This is the best SNL sketch ever!
I wonder how the guy holding the line cards is getting through this without laughing!
My arctic huspuppie.
WAAWEEWAAWAAWAAW!
One of the funniest skits ever. Interesting to see how they made them.
cracks me up
"I let the little head do the thinking for the big one. What can I say? I'm a guy!"
Yep, men could claim that a lot. Some of the funniest stuff ever on SNL.
Putting the cameraperson in a dress and a wig was a nice touch
You can see the camera in the mirror when she looks down.
This is so flipping funny I love him
"It's the shiznit."
I think I just wet myself a little.
Love him sooooo much❤️He’s always sexy in a special way but I just can’t get enough of his performances🤟
OK THIS IS THE FUNNIEST SHIT EVER
Roxanne Santori Happy to hear that I could lighten your day with this stolen clip :)
maraseque
You very much did! The continental is something I can actually laugh about.
Cuisine excuse me FOOD. lol
Shut up
Great vid, thanks for putting this up
This reminds me of Pepe Le Pew of the bugs bunny hour
Except Pepe Le Pew was looking for love... while Walken was looking for more than just London and France.
PURE GENIUS.
God I'm old. Still hysterical.
Absolutely hilarious these sketches.
Hahahaha i wish he would be invited again and do the continental skit.
This slays me every time!!!
I had just watched a Continental sketch and wanted to see if there was a behind the scenes video. Wow, there sure was! I was just curious to see the camera person, but wasn't even thinking about the cue card guy and cable handlers also being so involed. Very impressive!

probably. back then the cables caused three crew to control them in a sketch like this one.
They still use cue cards. Wally ain’t ever losing that job
Nope...only one cable guy.......but Brian Duffy was the best@@cainster
THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!! thanks for uploading man!!
damn i remember this when it was live, i laughed so much, my side was hurting
R. I. P Phil Hartman
Never knew they had the cue cards right there.
It's cool to see where the hand comes from.
I love how they put a wig on him too because of the mirror shot. Which still catches the camera a little.
Christopher Oh you genius
Great job Wally on the cue cards
That was great! Loved this view!
I offer you evervescent Andre's Cold Duck.
"That's me!" as the sketch cuts. Whatta doll💓
For heaven's sake, does anyone have a copy of the original "Continental" from the 1950's??? It does exist!!!
I LOVED "THE CONTINENTAL" WITH CHRIS! SO CLASSIC AND FUNNY! I LAUGHED SO HARD!!!! IT WAS HILARIOUS!!!! I ALWAYS WONDERED WHO'S BIG HAND WAS ON THE DOOR. NOW I KNOW! LOL! 😂😅😊😂❤❤❤. I NEVER KNEW IT WAS IT WAS A REAL SHOW ACCORDING TO CHRIS WHO WATCHED IT AS A KID.
hahahah i love how he says " champanya" haha lol
I love Christopher Walken ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, you can barely tell he's reading straight off the cue cards.
Only because of the angle purposely created for this sketch.
You have to give a lot of credit to the writers
that's one sturdy cameralady
I like the first "Continental" but this will do. That camera girl is super talented keeping the angle completely centered at all times.
Camera GUY. Wearing the glove and wig.
The originality & brilliance! This and Cowbell are his gifts to the world!🤎 Bittersweet hearing Phil Hartman's voice. :(
LEGEND! 🙌
he's like a human version of peppy la pew the cat
...*skunk, darlin’:)
@@suzannereilman4516 LOL you're right

Isn't anybody going to compliment the camera operator? Her acting was as good as his!
Perfect!
Why aren't there more of these "Continentals"?
This was a very funny skit era.
2:47 always my favorite hilarious to see from the other angle 😂😂
Would you like some Champ-Anya?.. 😂😂
Very cool! Walken is so good
This was so funny!!
The behind the scenes view was interesting.
I have to admit you're right - Jerry is the godfather. Still I really appreciate the outstanding choreography and writing of the SNL skit. As for cuteness - you're the expert.
I think this was the third one, anyone know how many there were? Love the series...
Sooo Pro .... I love Christopher Walken he is freakin' funny 🤣 an great Actor
It's exactly what I imagined.
Brilliantly funny!😂
This is the early version of the "The Continental: Spokesmodel" way before the final version has been edited changed...
nunca habia visto esto, Walken tiene talento de sobra para la comedia con sarcasmo
That camera Man deserves an Oscar , , 😂👍👍
emmy
The camera person has great comedic timing
They rehearsed the hell out of this sketch right down to the second. They're probably counting in their heads from 10-1 or something like that.
Never realized there really was a continental show
I can watch you all day😜🤣😜🤣😆
This was some choreography to pull off
Not just with the camera but also the cue cards. The man handling the cue cards had to know his exact cues on when to get out of the way so the camera guy can run away.
I wonder why the camera person was stroking their leg behind the camera. Is this a technique to keep steady?
Maybe her leg was itchy?
Maybe because it was a man wearing itchy panty hose... Just a thought.
+Tim Swanson I think it was so the cue card guy could keep in step with her timing
at 0:53 ? I think the cameraman had an itchy leg, but he had to keep the camera steady. Scritchyscratching it would have made the camera shake, so he stroked it.
This is a classic but it was funniest from your TV
he's so fucking hilarious i just love him LOL
Way too much fun !!!
