You have a keen eye for what makes a good looking CB cafe racer and great skills. The bike looks amazing.
Sick asF The little details make it so Special
Just found you by accident.
Stunning Adam Minis and Motorbikes.
Fab fab. Inspiration 👏👏
I just bought a 1982 CB650 and I am going to copy your build as much as possible. Thanks so much for this info!
Thanks man, I'm super flattered!
Just bought a 1980 CB650 and I really like the way you've done this. The guy I bought mine from is a mechanical engineer and has kept the entire service history of the bike. It currently has rear-mounted pegs with the shifter flipped. Ill probably do a linkage like what you've done in the future lol
How much did you buy it for?
I paid $3,300 NZD for it which is roughly equivalent to $2,020 USD
Just binge watched your build series, what an amazing job! I have a 1982 CB650 with the spoked wheels too. Did some work a few years ago to get it running and rode it a lot in college. This series just gave me the boost I needed to do the real rebuild I’ve always wanted.
I know you mentioned in other comments that you would have an excel sheet with parts/vendors, did you ever make that video or put it out? Definitely gonna be leaning on your videos through this summer rebuild. I’m sad you sold the bike it was a beauty, but congrats again on the build!
Excellent work - bike looks amazing. I’m working on 81 CB650 myself.
If you need any engine parts, let me know. I have an almost complete second engine that I only stole the starter clutch and a few other small pieces from.
@@eastcoastish Will do - much appreciated.
Working on my 82 cb650 cafe build now, might have to steal some of your ideas 👀👀
What an amazing build and a great summary video! Looks great!
10:29 the GTR
Thanks for watching all the way to the end of the video! :)
AWESOME JOB NICE AND CLEAN. I'M STILL DONT MY HOMEWORK ON THAT SWAP I EMAILED YOU ABOUT 125CC TO 190CC
sick build dude! Love it. Got a Virgin 1980 CB650 and 1976 CB750 I'm starting
Good luck on the builds!
Just got an 82 cb650. Yours looks great
Congratulations, enjoy it!
Nice work Kent! Came out super clean, just like all your bikes. You can tell you put a lot of time and effort into it. It's a piece of art.
Awesome work! The bike looks great!
Beautiful bike, one of the cleanest I’ve seen!
Just started my 1982 cb650 build today
Enjoy the build!
This bike it absolutely clean. I mean I’m not gonna lie my potential for building a bike is probably how you got it. That why I just stick to my drz it’s got some mods like a stroker kit and a list but the ability to but a bike together like this is beyond simple mechanics. This take a planing. A lot of planing this is like designing a bike a whole bike outta an idea. I really wish I could pull that off
Thanks man, I appreciate the compliment!
Looks great! I'm doing my first CB now... I'm 6'4", gonna dwarf this thing. Oh well, it's a project, not something I plan to ride.
Great video series. Very helpful. Thank you.
I’m interested in this bike. It’s beautiful
Awesome build! cant wait to see the next one!
Thanks man!
Sick bike! One of the cleanest I’ve seen. I’m desperate to find wheels for mine. You mentioned who made your wheels and laced them. Would you mind please sharing the link to that contact? I couldn’t find based on your mention in the video. Much thanks for the video!
Thanks! www.buchananspokes.com
Great craftsmanship man really like it!🤜🏻💥🤛🏻🙏🏻👆🏻🇺🇸
i love this motorcycle, that is the only thing i can say, im in process of buying a CB750, hope it ends like yor proyect
I have this exact same bike and I was wonder if I made a mistake buying it but after seeing your build I can't wait to tear it down and rebuild it. And way u built the forks is amazing I originally bought yamaha r6 forks for now I can save that for the virago 81 750 I have sitting it back. If u can can u list some parts u used or if u have a link to a web page. Dude u are in inspiration. I can't wait. Well done 👏
Thanks man, I'm putting together the full list and will have a video (and a link to the spreadsheet) up soon. Good luck on the build!
@@eastcoastish Did you end up putting this list together? I had a look and cannot see it. Thanks
Gorgeous bike 😍
looks awesome!
Dude, awesome job. I'm building one of these now and I like your style. Subbed.
This looks amazing! I want to do something similar in the near future... So I have a few questions:
- What year was this bike from?
- What was the initial cost and condition of the bike?
- What was the hours and final cost of the bike?
- Any other tips you would give on starting a cafe project?
-1982 CB650
-I think I paid about $2k including a second motor; the bike kind of ran but otherwise was in poor condition, i probably paid too much for it
-A lot of hours, probably close to 100; including the bike, the total bill got close to $10k
-Just lots of patience; these bikes are pretty easy to work on it just takes a lot of time
i know Im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Bradley Case instablaster =)
@Miles Ben i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Miles Ben it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
Love it! What is the size of the custom rims did you get front and back from Buchanan? I know 18 inch but can you remember what width? Thanks!
The front is an rswm418 (2.75”) rear is rswm618 (3.5”) I’ve got my invoice with the details if you need it.
82 solid year, same as me hah
Have build samme honda cb650 rc05 1981, but have problems with carburetors
Would it be possible to get a list of all the electronics you bought for you're build. I'm in the process of building my own CB650 and would appreciate the help. I want to add the antigravity lithium battery you are using but I'm unsure were to get all the electrical components you are using. Again would appreciate the help if you have a list I know it's asking alot.
Great vid, great bike !!! I am in a similar build, i would like to know where did you get the fork bolts and stem bolt ? They look badass. Thanks
I think the stem bolt was a standard Honda one, the fork bolts were purchased here: www.dimecitycycles.com/aluminum-top-fork-nut-fits-cb750-cb650-1979-82.html
What model of the rick’s regulator rectifier did you use specifically? There are quite a couple of them. I’m actually doing a very similar build. I first did it without changing the electronics so I didn’t have that full triangle in the middle, left the air box and build some side covers but 5 years later I decided to do it the right way. I’m doing a lot of research, I find your build amazing and very helpful. Hopefully I can pick your brain on some of this things that are going to help me to finish mine.
Are you still having good luck with that battery? I want to go that route but am worried about it being too small.
Battery has been great, no issues.
Hi, can you please share info about the battery and rectifier, I am currently looking for the same so I can tuck them under the seat. Thanks
beautiful , like this classics bikes do u can drive it evryday like go work and do all stuff ? good job
Thank you! Yes, I've ridden this to work a few times. It does need a few minutes of warming up first but after that it's good to go.
@@eastcoastish its seems much enjoy, alright thx for answering
What kinda carbs are those l know they came with constant volocity carbs which are very responsive
Keihin CR29 😎
Im 15 years old about to start my first cb650 build, would appreciate some pointers to get started.
Good luck on the build!
Which exhaust did you buy from 4 into 1? I got a 1980 650 and I have not found any that matches yet.
The 4 into 1 exhaust actually came on the beater bike I bought. I had it ceramic coated to bring it back to life, not sure where it came from.
Idk if youll see this but i have a 82 cb650. Replaced all components of charging system and still not charging well. Any advice😂
awesommmme
Thanks 🤗
How much you paid for the upper triple tree also, what’s the cca on your antigravity battery?
nice clean build. that motogadget and the other reseller electronics are a rip off. Have you seen what BJ of Brickhouse Build uses? i heard customer service alone was worth it
The motogadget stuff is expensive but it's extremely well built. It's over the top for sure but you're getting what you pay for.
@@eastcoastish expensive definitely, for the money, they better be well built. over the top? debatable. alternatives are coming up that dont break the bank and has better features is all im saying. could be better for the ones on tight budgets especially
Did this tank fit without any mods ? I just purchased an 81 cb650
Are you selling this bike sir ! Big fan
I actually sold it to a subscriber in Georgia last month! Appreciate the compliment though!
This is beautiful! Great work! I'm currently working on a 1980 CB650 with a very similar setup. Do you happen to have a wiring diagram that you're willing to share? It'd be a great help as I complete my Motogadget m-unit setup. Thanks!
Super basic, but this is what I used for reference: www.dotheton.com/index.php?attachments/dohcwire-gif.50995/
Great build. You got any links for engine rebuild parts?
Where did you get the exhaust at im trying to find something different
Hello! What handle bars are those? They look great on the bike!
Have a 1982 CB650 Nighthawk with 7k miles I'm taking apart now. I've learned a lot just watching your vids. What did you do with the choke?
The CR29 carbs I put on have the choke on the carb assembly, so no remote choke required.
Beautiful work ! How much did everything cost roughly to turn this into this beauty?
Thanks! Including the donor bike, it ended up totaling around $9,500. The custom built wheels, the CR29 carbs, and the Cognito Moto parts were some of the priciest parts of build.
great build, what did you go for in terms of rear shocks and brake/clutch levers?
These are the shocks: 4into1.com/black-remote-reservoir-shocks-eye-to-clevis-350-360mm/ the levers are some eBay ones that I shaved / modified to make fit and function that way that I wanted.
@@eastcoastish Thank you, I really appreciate your reply and those videos, really helping me with my build. I saw these after I went for the Japanese style cognitomoto ones, but thank you! the seat seems to be my biggest struggle now and getting the metal sheet underneath correctly
Did you move the choke cable lever somewhere else?
@@hsdlive the crs29 carbs have the choke on the side so I didn't need that cable/lever any longer
@@eastcoastish did you have a hard time putting the CR together? or it came ready? also I don't see anyone going with air filters with CR29, I'm in Toronto, so I can't say we have very dirty weather but isn't stacks means more engine rebuilds sooner. I was going to rebuild my carbs, but now I'm thinking to go all out and get the CR29. but people saying the engine needs to be modified, people say a lot of things, I'd appreciate your opinion. I'm just looking for a nice cafe racer to cruise around and enjoy and ofc have some power, not race!
Great job. I’m starting a similar project. Who was your best resource for information?
Sohc4.net has tons of great info.
Can you give me link of the tank?
4into1.com/reproduction-gas-tank-honda-cb750k-1975-1976/
How are you liking the power/weight ratio? Would you recommend this bike for a cafe build over a cb750?
Anything you don't like about this chassis/engine?
Overall power feels great for a bike of this vintage. The only reason I'd recommend this over a 750 is for a level of uniqueness since 750 is so common. My only major gripe about the frame was the hump in the back, but in the end, I think with the seat I built gives the bike again, something unique to set it a bit apart from all the other cb750 cafe bikes.
I’m building a 1981 cb650 now with only 1700 original miles any advice?
Good luck on the build! Honestly if I had to do it again, I'd do it all mostly the same. I think I probably should have tried more tuning with the original carbs before going with pricey CR29's but they were much easier to tune. The only change I've made since this video is putting on UNI pod filters instead of the velocity stacks because without a rear fender, the tire was literally throwing rocks and other debris straight into the open carbs :)
Hi Kent, where did you get the 4into1 exhaust? I can’t seem to find a CB650 specific 4into1 anywhere. Thanks
It actually came on the bike that I bought so I'm not sure. I didn't see any markings on it.
@@eastcoastish Thanks for the reply
Hi, I want to fully re-create your electrics and battery build.. can you send me a list of parts and links please?
Sorry I don’t have a list. I cover most of it though in the build series videos.
Hi! Where did you get the tank from?
4into1.com
@@eastcoastish thank you so much!
@@eastcoastish also what about the handle bars? I love the look!
How did you go about attaching the seat?
I fiberglassed in 3 bolts to the seat and have matching holes in the frame that the bolts go through that I put wingnuts on the other side; the fitment is already tight and since I'm sitting on it I don't need the wingnuts, but add them for good measure.
What master cylinder/lever setup are you using?
www.amazon.com/dp/B078W4T67D
I did make some modifications to it to look and fit the way I wanted.
@@eastcoastish Thanks! Stock brake caliper, yes?
@@ericklassen13 Yep, stock caliper.
Sorry if you’ve mentioned it but is that the stock tank?
It's not, it's from a 75/76 CB750k, purchased from here: 4into1.com/reproduction-gas-tank-honda-cb750k-1975-1976/
4into1 is amazing - I’ve gotten a few parts from them. Very prompt shipping to Canada
Alright well I have a 1980 cb650 and was wondering the triple tree you got and if it’d fit mine? If you don’t know I will try and find out it’s my first build ever and I’m learning as I go. Tbh I’m sort of going of yours. I’m wondering how I’ll do the seat, because of the dip. And how to make it look clean with the wiring.
The Cognito Moto triple clamp I used should fit the 1980 just fine. Just send a note to the Cognito Moto guys, they're great with making sure their products will fit your application.

@@eastcoastish Well thank you man and the bike looks great. Have fun
What year model is this CB650?
1982
What an amazing build, super clean! i have the same bike but mine is a night hawk. I just uploaded a progress video of my build, check it out! i grew to love the hump frame!
Do you still have this?
I sure do, although I struggle to find time to ride any of my bikes lately :)
@@eastcoastish if you ever have the itch to sell I’d be extremely interested.
@@baldilocks1914 hit me up: kent@eastcoastish.com
not quite sure why a big open gaping hole in the middle of the bike would look good, thats never how cafe racers were built
It’s the style now. And it does look good. Matter of opinion…right.
@@chrisnoyes9397 saying its the style now doesnt actually make it look any better, but your 100% correct, its a matter of opinion
@@chrisnoyes9397 then cafe racers have lost the plot, they were never built with a gaping hole in the center, that serves no purpose, cafe racers were always purpose built...now there instagram built, all show mediocre go, as about as interesting as another bmw "scrambler" or a "brat".
I may have missed it but what is the brand of the shifter assembly. That is so clean and I would love to get it for my bike
