  • 11-year-old Clara is escorted by caretakers as they attempt to reunite her with her baby girl, who was snatched away by a dominant male on a pre-release island. Meanwhile, 9yo Rinto is nurturing young orangutans, as if in training for parenthood. Darril and Liti are a couple it seems, but Darril becomes a little possessive when Liti goes to play with the others. Class-clown Valentino is falling behind his classmates in school, so he decides to work on his tool-use skills...and it pays off. This piece has beautiful drone shots of the young orangutans in the forest, making their way back home.

    I sat down to watch one or two of these orangutan videos, and now find myself still at it an hour later, a constant smile on my face. The narration and accompanying music are excellent.

    They're such precious animals. I love watching Jungle School. It's so amazing and adorable to watch people teach orphaned baby O's how to survive. They're such sweet, gentle beings even an adult female will walk nicely hand in hand with people she trusts. And the babies are so well behaved. They're so sweet and precious.

      When they become adults they can be quiet aggressive. The big male on the pre- release Island whom had been through Jungle school like these. Chased them all in to the water.

      How exactly would that productive for their development? They are simply there to be taught what their mothers are unable to do because they were either killed or stolen from them to be sold in the illegal pet trade when they were very young. The majority of this foundation is funded by gracious donors. If they were to do something as useless and irresponsible as what you’ve suggested, they’d quickly lose their funding, and rightfully so.

      Every orangutan in these videos is a rescued orphan (poaching, deforestation, etc.). These people teach them everything they need to know in place of their mothers, in hopes that they will eventually be able to survive and reproduce on their own in the wild.

      Man, you are so stupid. Orangutan babies can not just be released on their own in the wild. They will not survive! They must learn which fruits and leaves to eat and which to avoid, how to make nest, watch out for predators like snaked and tigers, using tools. Since they don't have their mothers anymore to teach them, these rehabilitation school are providing the education for them instead!

    • @MiketheCabbie
      @MiketheCabbie Рік тому +8

      An orphaned baby orangutan wouldn't survive if they were just put into the wild. The more complex a creature's brain is, the more behavior is learned rather than instinctual. Without their mothers, a baby orangutan would die in the wild because they need to be taught survival skills. That's where these human caregivers come in: to teach them the necessary things that their mothers would have normally taught their babies.
