- Nyaru Menteng Nursery School is where the youngest orphan orangutans begin their journeys. Cuddling together in these baskets takes the place of their mums’ arms at night. Here in the nursery, the infants drink a special soy milk formula, which is better for their digestive systems than cow’s milk.

This is such an old video, although one of my absolute favourites. These dear little things are being cared for and loved, and they’re learning how to thrive in the forest. I adore orangutans - so gentle, clever and funny. I wish there were more RECENT updates. ❤️

Their squeaks of "baby babble," hair sticking up & their facial expressions are irresistible! Even when they throw a tantrum & you can see all their teeth, I can't help but smile 😊. Their facial expressions while riding on the wheelbarrows is priceless! It's such a shame they've entered life first to be traumatized by greedy people! ☹️
Now they get free food, shelter and healthcare for in exchange for crapping and eating all day

Breaks my heart that they are poached and illegally smuggled out of their home. They are so sweet and cute but no one should have one as a pet let alone hunt them.
Ma'am, they get shot out of the trees in Borneo, to make way for palm plantations and logging, or burned alive in huge parcels set aside for palm. The collateral damage as a result of the way we live our lives in this country is staggering. We kill...slaughter, the most innocent and sweet of animals for discount corner store junk food. Hi Chrissy, I agree with you ! They are so cute and laid back that I can't imagine anyone harming such sweet babies. They are so lovable and it's not in their nature to act like a brat or throw nasty tantrums. I fell in love with them many years ago because of their personalities and just how lovable they are. The Great Apes are my favorite wild animals along side of the Big Cats. They remind me of myself as a small child because I had lots of hair sticking up all over my head in my baby pics. You can relate to some animals by their little quirks or like myself many " bad hair days".
The major killer of these beautiful close relatives is the burning down of their homes for our palm oil they are starving to death so they are going onto farmers land for food and the farmers kill them so PEANUT butter and cosmetics that have palm oil in them is at the cost of their homes food and lives
Correct, no one should have them as pets. They don't stay little and cute forever. When they grow up, they are extremely dangerous, with 5 times the strength of humans.

What are the poachers getting out of killing Orangutans? I feel a little naïve. Are they doing it to clear out space for the palm oil plantations?
sometimes farmers on palm oil plantations will kill them if the orangutans accidentally venture into their plantation. it’s also easier to just kill the mother in order to get the babies so that they can sell them. otherwise the mother will run away or fight to defend herself and the baby. poachers/illegal wildlife traders know they can sell baby orangutans abroad for a lot of money :(
Food from dead mom and money for selling babies
Some times for that, sometimes for bushmeat, sometimes to take the babies for the illegal pet trade. It varies. A few of the babies are even rescued pets....
All this orangutans had been abused in past, so it makes me very happy see they are in a safe place now. ❤❤❤

I guess they have to bring out all of their old videos and call them "new" because there aren't any new animals to steal from the forest. With the lack of care and all of the corruption in Indonesia, I wonder how many of the animals in this video are still alive.

I love the baby orangutan videos, but I cannot stand human children of the same age with their temper tantrums, throwing themselves on the floor, screaming and screeching. And acting out for candy or toys.
These short videos show them on their best behavior. If you saw them all day, they would be worse than real babies

There are lots of great charities who aid children who would be happy to accept a donation today. Until people give a donation is it wrong spend money on anything else? People spend a fortune on concert tickets, it must be wrong for them to do so as long as any children are in need.
