On the HIT channel, can we also please get Dynamic Loft, Attack Angle, Landing Angle, and Club head speed? You don’t even need to speak to it, just flashing it up on screen will be enough. Thank you !
Of course those things should be included… it’s like Rick and Guy and staff don’t even read “the comments” that must be made in this area - otherwise all we get is if a certain set up (pre-fitting even) suits Rick or not. SMH!
22 degrees is an important club for any player's bag. I chose to go with a 7-wood over a hybrid, 4-iron, or driving iron. The 7-wood is such a useful club for so many situations. I like the idea of these driving irons but can't justify removing the 7-wood.
I've got a 5wood cranked up to a 7 wood and I will say that for my game it's superior to a driving iron in most instances because the land angle is so good, it cuts through rough and it's so easy to hit. The one exception is when it's windy. That's when I much prefer a 2 or 3 iron as it's so much easier to flight the ball down. The 7 wood just wants to get up in the air.
7 woods are great! I also picked up a 9 wood and it’s just a riot to hit. The launch is ridiculously high but it’s so easy to hit and stops on a dime. I ditched my 3 wood and bag a 5,7 and swap between a 4hybrid and the 9wood
Hi Rick, great video as always. I was wondering if you could do a video on the best cheap/second hand golf clubs for beginners. Would be really helpful
There are some great options out there. Maltby makes some great clubs that won't break the bank and they offer an online fitting with loads of customization and Kirkland clubs from Costco are pretty good for the price.
Hi Ric, I bought the stealth DHY last year to go with my P790s. Although it does hit very solidly and straight, the feel doesn’t compare to my old Ping Eye 2, 2 iron. It isn’t as long off the tee either, but it is very good in slightly fluffy lies as well as shaping the flight in windy conditions.
ive had the 3 and 4 dhy in my bag for years. my 4 is a Sim DHY and my 3 is a stealth, i couldn't imagine not having them. they dont feel hollow or pingy to me at all
I have the old P790 UDI 2 iron in my bag and love it. I grew up playing only irons and a driver in my bag (including an old 2 iron), ive tried 5 woods and hybrids over the years but can’t hit them consistently like irons (guess its what i learnt with) so i now play driver, 3 wood and then 2 iron and up.
For an amateur golfer also senior golfer that club to be that style of club is so confident inspiring. I have Adams tight lies that are so good with that style in the 4,5, and 6 iron. Nice
I never had luck with the Taylormade Driving irons in the past, but a friend of mine picked up the 2 iron version of the DHY and I am impressed with it so far. I took a few swings with it and it feels very good, easy to hit and looks a lot better than the previous versions. He is letting me borrow it this weekend to test it head to head against my Ping iCrossover 2 iron, so it will be interesting to see some course performance with them both. Great video Rick!
I have been waiting for this review! I have a large gap at the top of my bag betweeen my 3 wood and my irons and think somthing like this or somthing close to this would fill that gap perfectly.
I use last years DHY model and it’s a nice club to have sitting around. I’ll swap out one of my woods for it if I’m playing a tight course where I don’t want to hit driver on every hole.
The PDHY looks like a great replacement for one of my hybrids. With my low swing speed my 4&5 hybrids go nearly the same distance, but if I switched one to a driving iron then I would at least get more versatility.
Great video Rick! I use an old Adam’s 3 iron because it’s a big girl compared to my MP30 irons and it feels like a driving iron. It offers a ton of forgiveness, goes 225-230yds and I can keep it low on the windy days. Would love to give one of these a hit.
ive been watching a lot of these type of reviews because I just bought a used Taylormade GAPR Mid which I suppose compares to the DHY I'm looking forward to hopefully replacing my hybrid with it.. I am so inconsistent with my hybrid and much more confident with my irons but I need something longer than my 5 iron.. hoping the GAPR mid does the trick! (couldn't afford to spring for a DHY just yet lol)
I thought for a driving iron you might have tried some off a tee. I use a tee whenever I can and if I bought one of these, then off the tee is where I'd mostly be using it.
Nice Vid Rick. I have the GAPR Mid 3 and the SIM DHY 4 in the bag for a while now and absolutely agree with your take on the P-DHY as my clubs are it’s forefathers. I completely understand why they have been moved into the P series, it gives them a bit more credibility compared to the bad wrap any club co branded with the driver usually gets as well as damn they look sleek now ( the GAPR Mid ain’t that good looking - except for being blacked out). Thanks for reviewing them and stoked that HIT has given you a platform to do it cause I don’t remember you doing the SIM or Stealth DHYs but I do remember you being surprised by the GAPR Mid. Keep up the good work team. 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺
He has said it before that he just won’t play the more forgiving irons/clubs even if it shows when he tests them purely out of vanity. But when you’ve got as much choice as he has then you can play whatever you want 😂
@@reubenarmitage1497 well we can all play basically what we want. I played in college back in early 90’s I played cavity backs when everyone played blades. They would give me crap but I didn’t care I played what gave me best chance to shoot low rounds. The tech is there why not use it?
Hey Rick. I saw something intriguing on Temu today. They have a set of P790s! Look identical to Taylormade but brand is Yamahero. I would love to see a side by side comparison! $267 P790’s…
I can't stand hybrids so I might be interested in one of these...I hate the look of hybrids and I've never been able to hit them. I feel like I should be hitting them like a wood but that's not the case...it's just a mind game I can't overcome lol
Rick. I would really love to see you do a video playing actual rounds on the course with game improvement irons. There’s been some you hit so well on the simulator yet you will only play blades on the course. If a more forgiving set would help your game I always wonder why you refuse to try them? Two things drive me nuts on UA-cam golf. 1 Rick refusing to play a more forgiving set of irons that would help his game so much. 2 Micah Morris thinking he should almost never hit driver off the tee even tho it’s his biggest weapon. These two things drive me nuts
Why would I buy this over my adjustable 22 degree 4 hybrid? I don’t get it? Is it simply for people who want the forgiveness and performance of a hybrid without the looks? For reference, my Ping G430 4h numbers are almost identical to these. 135moh ball speed. 208 carry, but with a touch less spin. Usually about 3500 for me.
