- Join me for a walk around the heart of one of the most fascinating towns in all of Northern Ireland, Carrickfergus! The historic capital of Ulster, and for centuries a key base of English power on the island of Ireland, Carrickfergus was the site of some of the most important events in British and Irish history, from the landing of William of Orange to the Second World War, and so much more!
On our walk around Carrickfergus, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including Carrickfergus Castle, Carrickfergus Harbour, Belfast Lough, the statue of William of Orange, Market Place, Carrickfergus Drinking Fountain, the Market House, Carrickfergus Poppy Mural, the North Gate, Carrickfergus' town walls, St. Nicholas' Church, the remains of the Irish Gate, West Street, the High Street, Carrickfergus Town Hall (formerly Joymount Palace and monastery), the site of the last witchcraft trial in Ireland, Carrickfergus Pillory, Carrickfergus War Memorial, and the restored Churchill Mk VII Tank 'Carrickfergus'.

Thank you. My Great Grandmother was born in Carrick Fergus and came to America as a young child. She was born in 1849. I’m planning to visit the city in the Summer of 2025.

I've lived in Carrick all my life, I used to work in a bakery at the bottom of North st called D'lacyeys 20 years ago. It's strange to see a place so familiar to me from this point of view. Brilliant video.
I use to buy a dozen pastries there on a Friday! Enjoyed them all lol
Great video. I'm your fan
Place of my birth. Great video.
If you're interested in more WW2 history in Carrickfergus, I take Guided Walking Tours covering events in the town during that period: Tank Manufacturing, Parachute Factory, Civic Life, US Rangers, Military Prison, and much more besides: leadthewaytour.com/
Great tour highly recommended!
Has it been enriched yet?
It's heading that way for sure
