My husband was usually a shy guy but once when this song came on, he stood up at a small family gathering and began to do the same dance as the guy did in the background in this scene . My husband even had on overalls. It's a great memory for us because he passed away shortly after that. And he'd never done anything like that before. Glad we got pictures. 😀
This was my dads favourite movie. He always got so excited and happy at this scene along with 'man of constant sorrow." I think it brought back memories of his youth. Cause he'd end up crying. He was born in 1946 so he was an oldie. Makes me cry now, remembering how he was.
Yeah my dad loved it too but he too is gone now I cry when I watch this movie as well I picture my dad as Ulysses tbh I think he did too but yeah I only watch this when I remember him to feel like it's my dad's adventure lol shit maybe I'm too drunk
This movie for history! Big salute for people in south US . We love ur culture and traditional and for sure your music . But please KEEP IT ! From Saudi Arabia ...
Yodeling, it was Priceless, @ 1:36 and counting, his eyes rolling, LMFAO~!!!!! Awesome~!!!! It's an American Heritage that's now lost~!!!! Classic~!!!! Just a Classic~!!!! Great Show~!!! Like the other guy said, Best in 20 Years~!!!!!
LOVE Pete’s good ole Hillbilly dancin' we used to see that up in Arkansas at my in laws! They is BONA FIDE! “In the jailhouse now fellas, neighbourhood of B” CLASSIC!
I actually really like the juxtaposition of the songs in this section of the movie. "In the Jailhouse Now" representing how Everett was at the movie's start, "In Constant Sorrow" being his journey, and "You Are My Sunshine" representing how he doesn't ever want to let go of his wife again.
RemixExtender Juxtaposition would be more like a happy song playing during a brutally violent scene. Juxtaposition needs polarity. It's not really things representing things necessarilly. Think of the end of Full Metal Jacket singing the mickey mouse song. Or the police officer's ear getting cut off in reservoir dogs. Maybe I'm an asshole for making this comment idk
Nice observation. Trevor is correct; juxtaposition are two contrasting things placed side by side. To say that you like the way the songs parallel the story would have been more correct. Nevertheless, it is a great observation that I never considered before.
ParkourBigbird I never understood whether he said "neighborhood of B" (like playing at that tone) or "neighborhood to be" (like they're going to jail). maybe both?

Yodeling is highly underrated in the modern world. If M&M had made records with yodeling in them, he would have made so many platinum records, the price of platinum would have doubled overnight.
My English teacher my junior year played this for us in class. I was sitting there like oh god not another boring stupid school movie… turns out i was about to watch one of my fav movies ever.
The first song in country music almost 100 years of Country Music celebrating Jimmie Rodgers based on Rockstar because Country Music is the original formula of Rock/Blues.

The down to earth feel and southern tone is a home collectors item. Was my parents favourite film, gets me every time as well♥️♥️♥️

Tim Blake Nelson is as good as a singer as he is an actor. Great job!
@@TheInkPitOx Thanks, I didn't know that !
@@TheInkPitOx they all sang themselves
@@pateris Ok, according to the soundtrack, this was actually done by Tim Blake Nelson and Pat Enright. So it was lip synched.

Pete doing that dance in the background. XD
Joker do u know what it's called by chance
Had I gone to my prom in high school, John Tuturro dancing in the background (Pete) is probably how I would have ended up dancing myself
And this here weird gal woulda loved it!
This is the best comedy I have ever seen... For several reasons!
I would love to hear some of your reasons. I love the movie- I suppose it'd be the acme of foolishness to inquire if you had a hair net.

Nothing wrong with that. Everyone can use a little learning now and then.
