This needs a heap of community support - it’s not just someone finding the latest cash exploit that gets patched away, it’s people profiting off the desire of a small group to be better without the work. Most importantly I think CIG need to know that we as a community are behind them in stamping it out early.
Bro SC uses EAC. Its not a "hacking ring". Theres literally just no anti-cheat. Its honestly shocking that hacking is as rare as it is in this game considering. A1 is just looking for an excuse to cover for the fact that people are realizing hes the upper part of average at best. They are working on their anti-cheat. Fortnite started exactly the same way early on with no AC during its development.

I dont say AV1 is wrong with what he says but i realy think the drama and Heroism he puts in the first half of this video is very suspicious and makes it very dubious. What i want to say if someone adresses a touchy topic like cheating. It has to be adressed very serious based on fakts and evidents. And not talking the half of the video about the creators mental health as a dying hero. That makes it very suspicious and unbeliveable. Just my opinion.
Agreed, and with many people in the community being so heavily invested into SC (both mentally and financially), I think that if this gets shared more in the community, there will be many people willing to help identify cheaters. The main challenge probably is that a large part of the community is so PvE oriented that they won't be able to tell the difference between getting blown up by someone that is more experienced in PvP and a cheater. I am the best example, as I probably did PvP about 3-4 times in 8 years of SC - so when cheating like the one that was shown in the video happens to me, I will simply assume that I was just to shit at PvP to effectively fight back. What I am wondering though is, if those cheats will be identifyable by CIG on the server end in the future. The video shared by 11's Hangar clearly shows a ship exceeding its capabilities in -game, which could be observable more objectively by either the server or the client software of SC, given that it runs a tracking script for things like relative speeds and damage outputs in the back. Nothing I would like CIG to do right now, given the servers already are under a lot of pressure, but with the new backend technologies, this seems like an opportunity to at least get these kinds of cheats under control.
And so it begins... Star Citizen has reached that level of popularity to where the dredges of the gaming world are flocking to it to create their cheats.
If one crew can create tools to inject exploits, there are likely many more out there. CIG needs to create the game in a way that critical values can not be modified by the client. I am interested to see what their response is and what their plans are to combat this going forward.
I honestly don't think CIG should make a big statement on this publicly at the moment - more likely to push the cheat makers further underground and hide what they are doing or give them an opportunity to adapt.
There's a basic fact of information security that nothing is completely secure and it's always going to be an arms-race between the black-hat hackers (attackers) and white-hat hackers (defenders) who both go looking for exploits. Security teams find a new exploit, patch it, wait for the next one to be discovered. Star Citizen is a little hampered by the fact that they have had to relax the EAC restrictions, given that it breaks in Linux and they want to support Linux players, and that they don't apply bans even when EAC does find something it mistrusts. That can, should, and will change in time. You also need to consider that any online game has the concept of authority to define certain things. The player (client) needs authority to decide things like which direction their ship is facing, the sever needs authority to decide things like how NPCs react. In between those extremes, you have things like the player's movement; does the player's PC tell the server where it is and the server just does error checking? If so, do we check for bone-crushing G-forces on the client side (the player's PC) or does the CIG server check every single player's movement every frame? In the end, there will be compromises; some things that the server should be doing are left to the client for the sake of performance. If you think about the lag on servers, the desync and the rubber-banding and the AI that takes 3-6 seconds to react to being shot, that's the game with some of the authority passed to the client and the server still doesn't quite keep up sometimes. The best CIG (and the EAC team) can do is to find out how these cheats work and stop them working. Yes, someone else will find a new way to cheat, but ideally their cheat engines will keep breaking and they will need to spend more time (or employ more people) finding increasingly-obscure exploits. At the same time, players who pay more and more money to buy cheats will get more upset at paying more and getting less. Cheat engines can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, so who pays $100 a month to get cheats which only work for the first week of each patch? That said, we know Star Citizen players do seem willing to pay hundreds or thousands for things they can't use, but that's a different topic...

This should never have been an issue to begin with. Manipulating values with Cheat Engine is one of the oldest and easiest tricks in the book. If every action was verified by a server, this wouldn't happen, and that's what most MMOs and many competitive MP games do. SC is well over a decade behind by not doing it. I'm inclined to believe they omitted this feature on purpose to speed up the net code, given CIGs never ending issues with networking. If they ever get "server meshing" to work properly, server side authentication has to be an integral feature from the start. If not, that's just another nail in SCs coffin.

For the most part they sit back and collect data and see how they are cheating so they can then patch up the exploits but there an infinite amount of cheats and loopholes that people will find, you can't stop it completely ever, you just keep chugging along trying to mitigate you can never stop it.

My brother and I ran into two cheaters a couple of weeks ago in 3.17.5, but the problem is that like all games, seems the community protects cheaters, that any claim someone is cheating comes back with bullying, probably because they are cheating themselves and trying to protect each other by gaslighting the rest. It is an uphill fight that follows by a lot of hate, but I am rooting for you guys on cracking down on cheating.
Look at AnarchyHD, he gets evidence that someone is 100% cheating and still gets hate for banning people. Cheaters protect each other and gaslight the rest.

The only thing that tipped people off was that it all happened at the same time and that someone spottet a player equipped with a railgun floating within the gravity area of PO, shooting at players.

It's a campaign, not a single battle. The needle will tip toward the hackers for a while, then back to CIG for a while. As long as the players don't get complacent, as long as we report hackers rather than getting tempted to join them, the hackers will lose this fight and will take a while to regroup before coming back with anything like the same levels of disruption. Like him or not (sorry, but we all know A1 can be as polarising as Salty Mike), what Avenger One is doing here by using his platform to expose and (more importantly) document what hackers are doing is a massive part of helping CIG and honest players win this fight.
It's not a fight, campaign, or battle. Hackers are doing CIG a service. If CIG were competent (And they cared), they would pay the hackers like every major tech company with any sense already does. Those guys aren't making hardly any $ selling their cheats, I guarantee you that.

a while ago i saw a Pisces loitering around Everest Harbour, at first i thought nothing of it, but kept an eye on them.... as i came in to call for landing, the Pisces opened up, exchange of fire and i landed a fair about of shots with my nose guns on my Vanguard, and the ad4b which also hit.... that amount of damage and successful hits it should have wiped out the C8 which was consistently hit on each pass they made... so much so that on my MFD it showed damage that should have been kills each time... however that C8 would quickly speed out of range and disappear, when they came back... the damage would appear to have gone... almost as if they had respawned and had a clean ship... yet was the same pilot, same ship, and the ship only had the two nose guns fitted, no wing guns... and both were the laser repeaters but despite me having the shield strength and my shield barely even getting knocked down below 70% my hull was starting to fail... even though they had barely even landed 2 - 4 shots at most on each pass.... i fired got them to flee to come back, but within that time i managed to get to my hangar and land.... i had originally put this down to desync, even doubted my own ability to land those shots, which i know i'm not a great PVP player but when i land shots i usually know that i have landed them.... but this video makes me question the legitimacy of that C8 pilot, and thinking back on it the question that always haunted me was how the hell were they able to repair their hull and have seemingly indestructible shields and lightning fast speeds, i know the C8 is fast and agile but it should not be that durable... nor be able to do that amount of damage to a ship 3 times its size... and be able to repair the hull between encounters without landing at a station or pad, all of which it never had time to do... and for the record, Avenger... I can honestly state that i've seen how good you are, on your videos and from friends who have even fought against you.... so there is no questions that your an honest pilot and player.... and i respect that... and know that for you to call out someone for cheating, isn't like some random who gets salty for losing then instantly calls cheats/hax etc... there is something seriously off that would lead you to call out... what i dont respect is people who do cheat, who then try and manipulate the community to turn them against those who call them out on it... and i dont respect those who try and ruin everyone else's experience and fun in any game because they aren't good enough or honest enough to learn.... like i said I'm not even a good pvp player... but if i lose to someone who is.... I respect them, and their abilities... as much as i respect those who admit and know they aren't good pvp players or good at the game but choose to enjoy the game and learn anyway... we dont have to be the best to be the best people... many times it's the way we choose to learn from or deal with each decision or event that can define whether we are good or not... I just hope that any who cheat get a life time ban, and a public announced name and shame.... and people who buy that crap off them or use those cheats are also named/shamed... hell i would go as far to say anyone who has that linked to their SC game, whatever files they had concerning that... are instantly reclaimed or un-useable thanks to yourself, 11's Hangar and everyone who is fighting these scumbags and doing all they can to expose their behaviour, and for bringing it to the surface
Chappie, a lot of that literally is desync...many people proved this by showing that high pings and bad server performance can lead to it looking like you landed shots but they didn't transmit the damage. 99% of the time it's not a cheater, it's just the servers are bad
@@tevarinvagabond1192 except the damage was registering on the hull and i've seen desync, this just felt different to what i've experienced on some laggy servers.... wouldn't be so bad but this was a fresh server and a few others had reported a similar thing with that player however at the time i did put it down to SC being SC, and he had been called out a few times for very questionable things during that time
Its incredible that hacks can make a ship invincible or even crazier, allow you to repair mid flight when I can't even get the IN GAME repair option to work half the time....

It wasn't so much that you accused them of cheating, but the aftermath once you knew they were not. So I'll say here, after watching this, I'm impressed. @@JesperRasmussen That might be a decent analogy for anything else. In regards to hacking, we have a long history to draw from. Tech companies long ago realized they couldn't fight the hackers. So they started offering bug bounty programs. Bug bounties pay very well, more than they would make selling cheats. That's what we should be demanding of CIG in response to this. No amount of silly spycraft trying to entrap hackers is going to solve the issue. It might make for an entertaining youtube video but it's a waste of time and gives CIG a scapegoat to mask their incompetent programming with.

@@hibana364 You've never cheated in a game before? When I was a young lad, just about every kid I knew owned a Game Genie. The hackers and cheaters aren't the problem. As I keep saying everywhere I can, CIG is the problem. The best solution is a bug bounty program. We'll never be rid of hackers creating cheats and players using them until CIG implements industry standards for securing the codebase. That's not just my opinion. It's historically been proven to be the only effective solution.

Been with this project from the beginning & never before have I seen people so determined to try and make a crowd funded project fail. Good on you for putting some of this into the spotlight.
You have big AAA studios with money, and a reason. I would not be surprised that Sony or Activision somehow managed to hire those hackers for “something else”.
It truly is sad that there are players out there that need to use cheats (and exploits) to enjoy the game and /or ruin the fun of other players. Honestly, such cheaters deserve a long or permanent ban from the game. Exposure of such players is great to see (and encouraged) however the frustrating aspect is that it may push those other similar cheating groups deeper into the shadows. Hopefully CIG can make the necessary adjustments to stop how these cheats work in game. Thank you.
I doubt they're doing it because they enjoy the game; they enjoy the thrill of cheating, and giggles. The game they're playing is not really SC, it's the cheats they're playing, and likely do in every other online game they play. These types of cheats exist for most popular online games, and when they get busted, which they do, they buy another account, pay for an updated cheat, and do it again for a while.
@Anachroschism hell, thats the old way of cheating. Nowadays, you just pay a monthly subscription which has infinite cracked accounts, is updated almost daily, and costs very little. Spoofs hardware ID, IP, RNG mouse movement, ESP (wallhacking), and literally anything you want depending on the suite of the cheat engine. Even worse are the advent of AI cheats that run as an overlay and are impossible to detect by any AC. Cheating in games is only getting worse and more difficult to detect to impossible to detect. Eventually there will not be an effective AC soon. It just won't exist. This is why single player games and private servers need to get more common. Without those, video games will just become "who has the most expensive cheats".
@@evolicious I haven't been a server admin for a long time, so I've not needed to keep up with how it works. Infinite accounts would certainly be a problem. Usually these people would stock up during sales, or giveaways.
@@aramyl1836 Unfortunately, IP bans don't work, as most people have a dynamic IP that often changes when they reboot their router. Hardware IP bans would be more likely, as then the person would need to change their hardware, to be able to play again, unless that can be spoofed too; I don't know.
Ohh this happened to me a couple of years back. I've reported him to CIG support. 1) a guy flying his Dragonfly in space near PO like physics didn't exist and 2) same guy glitched (actually teleported) into my carrack and killed me. I didn't record it, but i took some screenshots of the trail his ship was leaving behind. He could write his name with this trail if he wanted to. I've never played SC again without my recording app running. It's a pain, but surely needed.

If you provoke the hornets, they will go insane with efforts to attack, but you can protect yourself. Smoke out the hornets first, drive them out, and they may eventually fuck off. You're on the right path. You just got the smoke mix together, and the hornets are buzzing, but its up to CIG to really take that smoker and put it under the hornet's nest. If the cheaters despise you, that means you're _standing up for people they hurt._ Nothing pisses them off more than that. I love your content, even though I'm still brand new to the game, and my skills are wildly subpar, but the fact that you're backing me up by keeping the community above board, is so welcoming and I'd love to help somehow.
It is a shame this... But to no surprise really. Every Multi-player game is subject to this. Thanks for not giving up , and sticking to your instincts. Although this game has its quirks, we don't need cheating to add to it. I enjoy the good and the bad with this game, but I will definitely not stand for this..

Damn, thanks for the documentary. I‘ve played 2 years of SC, not on PvP particularly, but I wanted to learn it. A player from a community here recommended your channel to me, so that‘s why I subscribed your channel. I haven‘t seen the hate and drama revolving around you and apparently some cheaters (?), as I don‘t have social media accounts apart from UA-cam, Twitch and Discord (yes, I choose to stay off the other sites). I‘ve seen you long enough that I can say: you are incredibly good at ship to ship-PvP and you are not the kind of person to immediately accuse somebody of cheating only because you lost a fight. This is backed up by the anti-hacking team stating: they would have said the same about that dogfight. Many thanks to you, the CIG team and the many others fighting against cheaters in Star Citizen. And if I ever get the opportunity, I will fight next to you guys, it‘s our game and now it‘s also our responsibility to keep the game a friendly environment for everyone! Let‘s fight back the cheaters!
They really need to do something about this. It did happen a few time i got destroyed so quick that i was wondering if cheat existed for SC or if the server i was on had big desync . I'm gonna say it. Cheating happens every day in SC. And many of us have had to say "GF" in suspicious situation because all we had was that bad feeling. It feels feelsbadman, but I hope we don't let it ruin that sportsmanship and mutual respect between talented and hardworking pilots. Cheating is poison.
Eh, 99% of the time it's just bad server performance. There's no cheating epidemic, BUT that doesn't mean there aren't cheaters. I don't think it's the end of the world like everyone is hyping it up to be

My org was dealing with someone in a Gladius at JT. We couldn't get his shields down. We had a Centurian shooting directly at him as he was hovering above as he was typing GG in global chat before quickly zooming off.. we jumped servers assuming it was server side
I had two cheaters dominate Everus Harbor for like two hours before getting tired of it and logging off. One had an arrow, and one had an ares. They were able to almost instantly accelerate and decelerate, they had unlimited ammo, they had clear aimbot. They would almost instantly wipe everything from Andromedas to Corsairs and an 890 Jump. Literally the entire server united against them and it took some 40 or so pilots to kill even one of them. It was insane.
This made me smile its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many games that the rings are linked to its insane. I wonder if these guys are the same ones from back in the pre-3.0 days
I have been backing since 2014, i used to love Hero's and Generals for about 2 years. There was a lot of cheaters in Hero's and Generals. Fortunately there was a lot of videos exposing cheaters in Hero's and Generals. I was playing Star Marine in January 2017 with Saurus' community and some dude with the exact name of the name in one of the Hero's and Generals expose video proceeded to stomp everyone. I knew then that cheaters were in the game. (name = Lt. Pie)
Well done A1. One of my biggest fears as a fellow multiplayer space game dev is that what we and the community have built up is destroyed by a small minority of cheaters and their enablers. I've personally witnessed Extreme cheating exploits. Like being able to kill just by looking at you. Teleporting. Killing in an armistice zone. Destroying every single ship at a ship show then killing everyone in the convention center in a matter of 2 minutes. I never understood why someone would play like this. It's got to get old. But the level of immaturity and juvenile behavior seems to be unbound.
This happened to me just the other day. Im a brand new player, it totally pissed me off and I haven’t played since that happened. It was demoralizing as f*@&!
A1 your videos are one of the things that glued me back to SC after years of passively waiting for launch. Getting back in and getting my skills up to a useful level and getting back to being one of the folks in chat using my knowledge to help others is largely the result of your videos, bored gamers videos, morphs videos and a few others and I direct folks to your tutorials regularly. Wether that scorpius pilot hacked or not idk but it is not relevant to me. You said what you felt some folks liked it some folks didn’t but don’t let that stop you from continuing to do what you love to do because many of us still appreciate you for it.

The question is how can we protect this awesome game/project when those cheaters can always return with a new account and keep developing cheats? That's my question and worry. Fought a couple people lately that seem to be able to do full combat maneuvers faster then their ship can do at SCM speeds at 1200m/s. Nose on you all the time even if you try to cook past them they somehow still infront and nose on you

While browsing reddit i offhandedly found a commant on the official star citizen sub that slandered you, and i must admit that i was gullible enough to believe it without further investigations. Now i stumble upon this and my beliefs could not be firmer: i am your side, on star citizen's side. Thank you for the fascinating content, i wish you all the best. I think I’ve been hit by hackers. When you die instantly after joining a dog fight, that’s a sign… I’ll be more vigilant and start collecting usernames.
A few years ago, I got shot in SM... At the spawn 1 second after the round started. Stright through the walls. Unlimitide ammo fired got everyone respawning over and over. So yea, this has been a problem and is. IF you buy a cheat, you will never truly win... Playing a game with a wheelchair, in the end everyone will know you never won anything.
CIG needs to take action on this information. They cannot hide behind the 'this is alpha, those cheats won't work in beta/live' (which will likely be their first response to this video). Maybe the move to server meshing will sort this, as perhaps they'll make each server in the shard authoritative for the objects they manage (and hence remove the possibility of the client injecting values), but they MUST act! The most shocking thing for me in that whole video was the teleport, and how polished the GUI for that hack seemed to be. Sure, that could have been done on a 'headless' client, and not on the servers themselves, as I couldn't see anything in that snip confirming they were connected to the servers at the time. If player teleporting is possible with that tool... it throws the whole entity tracking / anomaly monitoring of EAC / server-side monitoring into question. You would hope that a player being a co-ords A then suddenly being somewhere completely different would raise alarm bells? If it doesn't, that's something they should look in to. You can't act without data, and that kind of data can help them track who is cheating, but more importantly help them zero in on the systems which could be enabling that cheat... This video is quite worrying.

I've come from Morphologist's video. I just hadn't considered there would be a cheating community for this game. Particularly at this point in development. Thank you for spreading the word. Cheating will ruin the game in the long term, and must be dealt with.

This needs a heap of community support - it’s not just someone finding the latest cash exploit that gets patched away, it’s people profiting off the desire of a small group to be better without the work. Bro SC uses EAC. Its not a "hacking ring". Theres literally just no anti-cheat. Its honestly shocking that hacking is as rare as it is in this game considering. A1 is just looking for an excuse to cover for the fact that people are realizing hes the upper part of average at best. They are working on their anti-cheat. Fortnite started exactly the same way early on with no AC during its development.

I dont say AV1 is wrong with what he says but i realy think the drama and Heroism he puts in the first half of this video is very suspicious and makes it very dubious. What i want to say if someone adresses a touchy topic like cheating. It has to be adressed very serious based on fakts and evidents. And not talking the half of the video about the creators mental health as a dying hero. That makes it very suspicious and unbeliveable. Just my opinion.

Agreed, and with many people in the community being so heavily invested into SC (both mentally and financially), I think that if this gets shared more in the community, there will be many people willing to help identify cheaters. The main challenge probably is that a large part of the community is so PvE oriented that they won't be able to tell the difference between getting blown up by someone that is more experienced in PvP and a cheater. I am the best example, as I probably did PvP about 3-4 times in 8 years of SC - so when cheating like the one that was shown in the video happens to me, I will simply assume that I was just to shit at PvP to effectively fight back.
What I am wondering though is, if those cheats will be identifyable by CIG on the server end in the future. The video shared by 11's Hangar clearly shows a ship exceeding its capabilities in -game, which could be observable more objectively by either the server or the client software of SC, given that it runs a tracking script for things like relative speeds and damage outputs in the back. Nothing I would like CIG to do right now, given the servers already are under a lot of pressure, but with the new backend technologies, this seems like an opportunity to at least get these kinds of cheats under control.
And so it begins... Star Citizen has reached that level of popularity to where the dredges of the gaming world are flocking to it to create their cheats.
If one crew can create tools to inject exploits, there are likely many more out there.
CIG needs to create the game in a way that critical values can not be modified by the client.
I am interested to see what their response is and what their plans are to combat this going forward.
I honestly don't think CIG should make a big statement on this publicly at the moment - more likely to push the cheat makers further underground and hide what they are doing or give them an opportunity to adapt.

There's a basic fact of information security that nothing is completely secure and it's always going to be an arms-race between the black-hat hackers (attackers) and white-hat hackers (defenders) who both go looking for exploits. Security teams find a new exploit, patch it, wait for the next one to be discovered. Star Citizen is a little hampered by the fact that they have had to relax the EAC restrictions, given that it breaks in Linux and they want to support Linux players, and that they don't apply bans even when EAC does find something it mistrusts. That can, should, and will change in time.
You also need to consider that any online game has the concept of authority to define certain things. The player (client) needs authority to decide things like which direction their ship is facing, the sever needs authority to decide things like how NPCs react. In between those extremes, you have things like the player's movement; does the player's PC tell the server where it is and the server just does error checking? If so, do we check for bone-crushing G-forces on the client side (the player's PC) or does the CIG server check every single player's movement every frame? In the end, there will be compromises; some things that the server should be doing are left to the client for the sake of performance. If you think about the lag on servers, the desync and the rubber-banding and the AI that takes 3-6 seconds to react to being shot, that's the game with some of the authority passed to the client and the server still doesn't quite keep up sometimes.
The best CIG (and the EAC team) can do is to find out how these cheats work and stop them working. Yes, someone else will find a new way to cheat, but ideally their cheat engines will keep breaking and they will need to spend more time (or employ more people) finding increasingly-obscure exploits. At the same time, players who pay more and more money to buy cheats will get more upset at paying more and getting less. Cheat engines can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, so who pays $100 a month to get cheats which only work for the first week of each patch? That said, we know Star Citizen players do seem willing to pay hundreds or thousands for things they can't use, but that's a different topic...
They're moving towards more server authoritative code, which will in turn make it harder to inject any code client-side.

Manipulating values with Cheat Engine is one of the oldest and easiest tricks in the book. If every action was verified by a server, this wouldn't happen, and that's what most MMOs and many competitive MP games do. SC is well over a decade behind by not doing it. I'm inclined to believe they omitted this feature on purpose to speed up the net code, given CIGs never ending issues with networking.
If they ever get "server meshing" to work properly, server side authentication has to be an integral feature from the start. If not, that's just another nail in SCs coffin.

My brother and I ran into two cheaters a couple of weeks ago in 3.17.5, but the problem is that like all games, seems the community protects cheaters, that any claim someone is cheating comes back with bullying, probably because they are cheating themselves and trying to protect each other by gaslighting the rest. It is an uphill fight that follows by a lot of hate, but I am rooting for you guys on cracking down on cheating.
Look at AnarchyHD, he gets evidence that someone is 100% cheating and still gets hate for banning people. Cheaters protect each other and gaslight the rest.

The only thing that tipped people off was that it all happened at the same time and that someone spottet a player equipped with a railgun floating within the gravity area of PO, shooting at players.

It's a campaign, not a single battle. The needle will tip toward the hackers for a while, then back to CIG for a while. As long as the players don't get complacent, as long as we report hackers rather than getting tempted to join them, the hackers will lose this fight and will take a while to regroup before coming back with anything like the same levels of disruption. Like him or not (sorry, but we all know A1 can be as polarising as Salty Mike), what Avenger One is doing here by using his platform to expose and (more importantly) document what hackers are doing is a massive part of helping CIG and honest players win this fight.

It's not a fight, campaign, or battle. Hackers are doing CIG a service. If CIG were competent (And they cared), they would pay the hackers like every major tech company with any sense already does. Those guys aren't making hardly any $ selling their cheats, I guarantee you that.

a while ago i saw a Pisces loitering around Everest Harbour, at first i thought nothing of it, but kept an eye on them.... as i came in to call for landing, the Pisces opened up, exchange of fire and i landed a fair about of shots with my nose guns on my Vanguard, and the ad4b which also hit.... that amount of damage and successful hits it should have wiped out the C8 which was consistently hit on each pass they made... so much so that on my MFD it showed damage that should have been kills each time... however that C8 would quickly speed out of range and disappear, when they came back... the damage would appear to have gone... almost as if they had respawned and had a clean ship... yet was the same pilot, same ship, and the ship only had the two nose guns fitted, no wing guns... and both were the laser repeaters
but despite me having the shield strength and my shield barely even getting knocked down below 70% my hull was starting to fail... even though they had barely even landed 2 - 4 shots at most on each pass....
i fired got them to flee to come back, but within that time i managed to get to my hangar and land.... i had originally put this down to desync, even doubted my own ability to land those shots, which i know i'm not a great PVP player but when i land shots i usually know that i have landed them....
but this video makes me question the legitimacy of that C8 pilot, and thinking back on it the question that always haunted me was how the hell were they able to repair their hull and have seemingly indestructible shields and lightning fast speeds, i know the C8 is fast and agile but it should not be that durable... nor be able to do that amount of damage to a ship 3 times its size... and be able to repair the hull between encounters without landing at a station or pad, all of which it never had time to do...
and for the record, Avenger... I can honestly state that i've seen how good you are, on your videos and from friends who have even fought against you.... so there is no questions that your an honest pilot and player.... and i respect that... and know that for you to call out someone for cheating, isn't like some random who gets salty for losing then instantly calls cheats/hax etc... there is something seriously off that would lead you to call out...
what i dont respect is people who do cheat, who then try and manipulate the community to turn them against those who call them out on it...
and i dont respect those who try and ruin everyone else's experience and fun in any game because they aren't good enough or honest enough to learn....
like i said I'm not even a good pvp player... but if i lose to someone who is.... Chappie, a lot of that literally is desync...many people proved this by showing that high pings and bad server performance can lead to it looking like you landed shots but they didn't transmit the damage. 99% of the time it's not a cheater, it's just the servers are bad

and i've seen desync, this just felt different to what i've experienced on some laggy servers.... wouldn't be so bad but this was a fresh server and a few others had reported a similar thing with that player
however at the time i did put it down to SC being SC, and he had been called out a few times for very questionable things during that time
Its incredible that hacks can make a ship invincible or even crazier, allow you to repair mid flight when I can't even get the IN GAME repair option to work half the time....

@@JesperRasmussen That might be a decent analogy for anything else. In regards to hacking, we have a long history to draw from. Tech companies long ago realized they couldn't fight the hackers. So they started offering bug bounty programs. Bug bounties pay very well, more than they would make selling cheats. That's what we should be demanding of CIG in response to this. No amount of silly spycraft trying to entrap hackers is going to solve the issue. It might make for an entertaining youtube video but it's a waste of time and gives CIG a scapegoat to mask their incompetent programming with.

@@hibana364 You've never cheated in a game before? When I was a young lad, just about every kid I knew owned a Game Genie. The hackers and cheaters aren't the problem. As I keep saying everywhere I can, CIG is the problem. The best solution is a bug bounty program. We'll never be rid of hackers creating cheats and players using them until CIG implements industry standards for securing the codebase. That's not just my opinion. It's historically been proven to be the only effective solution.

It truly is sad that there are players out there that need to use cheats (and exploits) to enjoy the game and /or ruin the fun of other players. Honestly, such cheaters deserve a long or permanent ban from the game. Exposure of such players is great to see (and encouraged) however the frustrating aspect is that it may push those other similar cheating groups deeper into the shadows. Hopefully CIG can make the necessary adjustments to stop how these cheats work in game. Thank you.
I doubt they're doing it because they enjoy the game; they enjoy the thrill of cheating, and giggles. The game they're playing is not really SC, it's the cheats they're playing, and likely do in every other online game they play. These types of cheats exist for most popular online games, and when they get busted, which they do, they buy another account, pay for an updated cheat, and do it again for a while.
@Anachroschism hell, thats the old way of cheating. Nowadays, you just pay a monthly subscription which has infinite cracked accounts, is updated almost daily, and costs very little. Spoofs hardware ID, IP, RNG mouse movement, ESP (wallhacking), and literally anything you want depending on the suite of the cheat engine.
Even worse are the advent of AI cheats that run as an overlay and are impossible to detect by any AC.
Cheating in games is only getting worse and more difficult to detect to impossible to detect.
Eventually there will not be an effective AC soon. It just won't exist.
This is why single player games and private servers need to get more common. Without those, video games will just become "who has the most expensive cheats".
@@evolicious I haven't been a server admin for a long time, so I've not needed to keep up with how it works. Infinite accounts would certainly be a problem. Usually these people would stock up during sales, or giveaways.
@@aramyl1836 Unfortunately, IP bans don't work, as most people have a dynamic IP that often changes when they reboot their router. Hardware IP bans would be more likely, as then the person would need to change their hardware, to be able to play again, unless that can be spoofed too; I don't know.

Ohh this happened to me a couple of years back. I've reported him to CIG support. 1) a guy flying his Dragonfly in space near PO like physics didn't exist and 2) same guy glitched (actually teleported) into my carrack and killed me. I didn't record it, but i took some screenshots of the trail his ship was leaving behind. He could write his name with this trail if he wanted to. I've never played SC again without my recording app running. It's a pain, but surely needed.

If you provoke the hornets, they will go insane with efforts to attack, but you can protect yourself. Smoke out the hornets first, drive them out, and they may eventually fuck off. You're on the right path. You just got the smoke mix together, and the hornets are buzzing, but its up to CIG to really take that smoker and put it under the hornet's nest. If the cheaters despise you, that means you're _standing up for people they hurt._ Nothing pisses them off more than that. I love your content, even though I'm still brand new to the game, and my skills are wildly subpar, but the fact that you're backing me up by keeping the community above board, is so welcoming and I'd love to help somehow.

Damn, thanks for the documentary. I‘ve played 2 years of SC, not on PvP particularly, but I wanted to learn it. A player from a community here recommended your channel to me, so that‘s why I subscribed your channel.
I haven‘t seen the hate and drama revolving around you and apparently some cheaters (?), as I don‘t have social media accounts apart from UA-cam, Twitch and Discord (yes, I choose to stay off the other sites). I‘ve seen you long enough that I can say: you are incredibly good at ship to ship-PvP and you are not the kind of person to immediately accuse somebody of cheating only because you lost a fight. This is backed up by the anti-hacking team stating: they would have said the same about that dogfight.
Many thanks to you, the CIG team and the many others fighting against cheaters in Star Citizen. And if I ever get the opportunity, I will fight next to you guys, it‘s our game and now it‘s also our responsibility to keep the game a friendly environment for everyone! Let‘s fight back the cheaters!
They really need to do something about this. It did happen a few time i got destroyed so quick that i was wondering if cheat existed for SC or if the server i was on had big desync . It feels feelsbadman, but I hope we don't let it ruin that sportsmanship and mutual respect between talented and hardworking pilots. Cheating is poison.

@@twilink5810 Dude, you only think it's like this because you play too many FPS games that actually have cheaters, so you think they're everywhere. SC is simply a buggy, unoptimized mess and thus a lot of weird stuff happens that is simply the bad severs...not cheating

It’s more common that people care to admit. I am not a good pilot, but having gladius shred my vanguard in one pass, under a second does feel off.

My org was dealing with someone in a Gladius at JT. We couldn't get his shields down. We had a Centurian shooting directly at him as he was hovering above as he was typing GG in global chat before quickly zooming off.. we jumped servers assuming it was server side

Gta online is a good example of what happens in pvp when there is ample cheating. Even consoles are pestered but pc pvp has been killed by cheaters.

I had two cheaters dominate Everus Harbor for like two hours before getting tired of it and logging off. One had an arrow, and one had an ares. They were able to almost instantly accelerate and decelerate, they had unlimited ammo, they had clear aimbot. They would almost instantly wipe everything from Andromedas to Corsairs and an 890 Jump. Literally the entire server united against them and it took some 40 or so pilots to kill even one of them. It was insane.
This made me smile its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many games that the rings are linked to its insane. I wonder if these guys are the same ones from back in the pre-3.0 days
I have been backing since 2014, i used to love Hero's and Generals for about 2 years. There was a lot of cheaters in Hero's and Generals. Fortunately there was a lot of videos exposing cheaters in Hero's and Generals. I was playing Star Marine in January 2017 with Saurus' community and some dude with the exact name of the name in one of the Hero's and Generals expose video proceeded to stomp everyone. I knew then that cheaters were in the game. (name = Lt. Pie)
Great job helping to further bring this to the light. This needs to be addressed.
Well done A1. One of my biggest fears as a fellow multiplayer space game dev is that what we and the community have built up is destroyed by a small minority of cheaters and their enablers. I've personally witnessed Extreme cheating exploits. Like being able to kill just by looking at you. Teleporting. Killing in an armistice zone. Destroying every single ship at a ship show then killing everyone in the convention center in a matter of 2 minutes. I never understood why someone would play like this. It's got to get old. But the level of immaturity and juvenile behavior seems to be unbound.
This happened to me just the other day. Im a brand new player, it totally pissed me off and I haven’t played since that happened. It was demoralizing as f*@&!
I remember bombers bar. That was something big while I played eve. Never got into flying bombers back in the day though.

A1 your videos are one of the things that glued me back to SC after years of passively waiting for launch. Getting back in and getting my skills up to a useful level and getting back to being one of the folks in chat using my knowledge to help others is largely the result of your videos, bored gamers videos, morphs videos and a few others and I direct folks to your tutorials regularly. Wether that scorpius pilot hacked or not idk but it is not relevant to me. You said what you felt some folks liked it some folks didn’t but don’t let that stop you from continuing to do what you love to do because many of us still appreciate you for it.
Great presentation A1! Can't thank you guys enough for your contribution in this matter. Cheating will kill the game if not dealt with. The question is how can we protect this awesome game/project when those cheaters can always return with a new account and keep developing cheats? That's my question and worry. Cheating is stealing and lying and proves that those using it, the real persons, have no honor. So, how we deal with them if they don't change by themselves? I am totally with you A1.
For the cheaters out there, I really wonder where is the fun in that? If you play fair you have the thrill, the fun, you become better. When you cheat, even if you beat everyone on the server, you achieved NOTHING. And you know it! What? Is it that important to you that some other people you will never meet, will admire you? And for that you give up your honor? And if you do it for money, do u really wanna kill the game you also spend so much time on? I really don't get it. Cheaters need to be banned. The game needs to be created in a way that this stuff is flagged instantly
Fought a couple people lately that seem to be able to do full combat maneuvers faster then their ship can do at SCM speeds at 1200m/s. Nose on you all the time even if you try to cook past them they somehow still infront and nose on you
I've seen games destroyed by hackers before. It's frustrating seeing cheaters ruin it for everyone.

A few years ago, I got shot in SM... At the spawn 1 second after the round started. Stright through the walls. Unlimitide ammo fired got everyone respawning over and over. So yea, this has been a problem and is. IF you buy a cheat, you will never truly win... Playing a game with a wheelchair, in the end everyone will know you never won anything.
In destiny 2, they launch lawsuits against cheat developers, CIG should do this, otherwise it's value will drop
Winners never cheat and cheaters never win. If you have to cheat, you are lame.

CIG needs to take action on this information. They cannot hide behind the 'this is alpha, those cheats won't work in beta/live' (which will likely be their first response to this video). Maybe the move to server meshing will sort this, as perhaps they'll make each server in the shard authoritative for the objects they manage (and hence remove the possibility of the client injecting values), but they MUST act!
The most shocking thing for me in that whole video was the teleport, and how polished the GUI for that hack seemed to be. Sure, that could have been done on a 'headless' client, and not on the servers themselves, as I couldn't see anything in that snip confirming they were connected to the servers at the time. If player teleporting is possible with that tool... it throws the whole entity tracking / anomaly monitoring of EAC / server-side monitoring into question.
You would hope that a player being a co-ords A then suddenly being somewhere completely different would raise alarm bells? If it doesn't, that's something they should look in to. You can't act without data, and that kind of data can help them track who is cheating, but more importantly help them zero in on the systems which could be enabling that cheat...
