This is 616 galactus. And hes low effort as hell here because he doesn't even deem any of them a threat, if we threw characters like 616 Thor, Sentry, Dr. strange, Phoenix etc. he would actually fight with effort lol. To him they aren't worth exerting himself
True. But it is still fun and great the Galactus arcs where the hopelessness of the encounter shines through, like this one, and the one where he absorbed Dormammu and went on a TEAR!!!
Basically unless you are god level+ in power or Reed Richards he is just going to ignore your existence. Anything you throw at him is like throwing a pebble at 5 inch thick bullet proof glass.
@RealStevenSeagalTalking about intelligence and strategy not quantifying power. Reed in comics has made Galactus leave in the 616 Earth several times. By figuring out how to entice or bother Galactus to leave. The Ultimate Universe in this first meeting doesn't have their Reed.
@RealStevenSeagal I'm pretty sure the first example is from the old cartoon, which was and still hilarious. I was more thinking when Reed got ahold of the Ultimate Nullifier to make Galactus back down before. Or give him an alternative source instead of eating Earth's Energy.
Galactus is not a threat that you punch with your might and defeat. He's a Lovecraftian Eldritch horror that you struggle to survive. You can't punch an earth quake or your own inevitable death. Galactus is representative of the struggle that we must all endure. We have to come to terms with and accept that the universe is just as hostile to your life as it is benevolent and that one day it WILL kill you.
I would love an author to come in and have Galactus curb stomp 99% of the people hes jobbed too like Sentry. Just to put him back where he needs to be. No single hero should be a threat to the third force of the universe. Galactus should be a hurricane that you simply have to escape or survive. Hes such a fantastic and wasted character.
Galactus never jobbed to sentry though the fight was off panel so we don't even know what happened, plus there are characters like Franklin Richards, legion and Jean with the phoenix or sentry that are as powerful as Galactus or have the potential to be. I want Galactus to be at the top as well but marvel already made more than enough characters that could defeat or challenge him and this was long before the 2000s.
@cheeseburgerfreddy6350 well in those rare cases it wouldn't be jobbing. You are the greatest Phoenix host you can challenge G. Richard's has always been problematic. You have to write him into a box because he's so powerful there can't be threats. So I'm comfortable with outlier characters like that. I beef with Sentry as he's been a stable member of earth's heroes for so long it just diffuses the writing. I honestly don't see you disagreeing with my overall concept. Writers just need to leave Galan out of things just to show off how strong someone is.
@@andrewboyer7544 I don't mind certain characters giving Galactus a run for his money or defeating him, The problem is marvel writers had too many characters doing this and it was no longer cool or entertaining. Sentry hasn't been around long and most times he's taken out of stories or ends up as a villain or anti hero.
@@cheeseburgerfreddy6350 Yeah, this happens with a lot of guys. When you do it too much it stops being impressive and you just roll your eyes. I've always said the best writers can establish a character as a threat and make all characters involved look good. I remember how well this was done during the Annihilation saga's.
I mean, Sentry beat Molecule Man though, so I'm not sure it would necessarily be "jobbing." Sentry in general is kind of an iffy character, that whole Void aspect is basically used by writers to just do whatever they want with him. Loses to Hulk? Stalemates the Hulk? Yeah, that sounds cool. Solos a guy who can shatter and rebuild galaxies on a whim? Why not, sounds awesome.
The fact that Galactus came to devour the Ultimate Universe is just terrifying. No wonder the Ultimates struggled to stop him. I need to read Cataclysm: The Ultimates' Last stand, Ultimate Spider-Man: Cataclysm, and Hunger.
Galactus is the literal personification of an unwinnable scenario. He is "The Be All To End All." You exist because he allows it. And you will end. . .because he demands it.

I'm not very knowledgeable about comics but I've been watching death battle videos and every time they mention a character fighting/beating the spectre they mention it like it's the ultimate feat but then you here them mention the same feat over and over with other characters in other videos and it got me wondering if the spectre really is that powerful after all.
Stark needs that Celestial body armour thing. The armour he made from the body of a dead Celestial I think is what it is. Maybe that would get the job done. But probably takes a few Celestials to take out Galactus.
For reference, this is during Jonathan Hickmans Avengers and Incursions event. During it, Galactus was brought to the Ultimate Universe. And after arriving, was low on energy, and decided to feed. It's said later he doesn't know where he is, and doesn't know if he has the energy to get back, but he will eat everything trying.
Finally writers decided to bring galactus teeth back to him seems like years of him being a punching bag for a lazy susan full of characters are finally over .
