Totally agree with you on this point, and if anything G1 Remake (ane hopefully even more so G2 Remake! - pretty please! if G1R is successful) should really do a super-well executed living breathing world that uses the original games' systems as a baseline and builds from there a truly fantastic world simulator for the NPCs and creatures. THAT done in the Gothic style is a big part of the "Gothic feel" and should be a major selling point and is hopefully received well by critics and fans. I truly believe doing this living world alongside the other core concepts of great combat which relies more on player reflexes than just stats, and great graphics is the recipe for Gothic series finally being the world-class and popular RPG for which the foundations were laid by Piranha Bytes with G1 and even more so with G2.
@@The2a2b maybe not complicated, but extremely exhausting and boring. 50 different crafting materials. Collect dozens of the worst rank, either from farming or running around merchants. I suppose that them boasting in trailer about npc's having daily schedules is targeted specifically to the fans to emphasize that they are faithful to the original.
Also, what new games have daily schedules that actually work? The only such system that impressed me at that time was in Oblivion. It really felt like npc`s were doing someting(even though it felt silly most of the times). In Skyrim it was downgraded. I think in most modern games npc`s have very simplified daily schedules and reactions to the world. So if they will implement this aspect a bit deeper - it will be a great thing.
@@olehkoropenko620 most modern games don't. not sure what games he referring to when he says its now the standard, when in fact its the exact opposite. This type of game design has been completely abandoned in favor of massive empty open worlds with NPCs being programmed to sit in place or moving aimlessly in a specific direction
@@GemayelDaniel Exactly my thoughts. We constantly hear promises of such simulations(living open world, reacts to your actions, etc.) but in reality we may get only fraction of it(if lucky). I get that game development is hard and it's not easy to deliver such things along with good graphics, optimization and so on, but false marketing makes it even worse.
I think the only thing I dislike about the new presentation is the ludicrous animation of that water mage turning the pages of the manuscript he's reading.
According to to their PR person, it's a magical animation as his hands don't touch the page. But I'd still say they should have kept more distance between the hand and the page so people can instantly notice it's a magical animation
@@Kevin5279 Their PR person is full of shit then, Why would anyone use magic just to make turning pages more difficult. I mean, just look at that elaborate animation, all that effort when the mage could just turn the page the traditional way. xD I think the whole idea is just bad, mages don't need to be made to seem "more magical" by adding this sort of nonsense. I absolutely resent this entire idea, and I really hope they forget this foolishness and just make a proper page-turning animation where the mage does it the traditional way using their actual fingers.
And fix the damn awful gothic 3 and continue series and finish this franchise with a bang but yeah i'll keep my expectation low so i eont be dissapointed
I am very pleased with the changes, it LOOKs and FEELs like gothic from what i see. It also seems to retain alot of classic sounds in the environment and actions. I hope they do a good job with gameplay. As for lived in world its still isnt really a standard. Only game that matches and improved upon Gothic on this is Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Nothing else even comes remotely close or is incredibly underdone.
@@SkinnyGaming81 Pushing people aside in a prison would get your ass whooped though. But yeah, i think KC:D did really well with how the world feels, even though it had a limited budget. Games like W3 and RDR2 just had so much people and money thrown into it that we can't compare.
@@Matheusss89 I proposed once that pickpocketing could be addressed the way the guy in Old camp trailer robs Bloodwyn. Not the only way to pickpocket but one way among others. Also on the same trailer we see the guy picking fight with the digger who is having his meal. Something tells me that mechanic will be implemented in the remake. Maybe not. Still I believe Gothic is unmatched concerning AI and living world.
I too err on the side of being cautiously optimistic, but I'd be lying if I didn't say this trailer has me a little bit hyped now. It looks like they've nailed the atmosphere, and they should be able to just copy over a lot of the story and quests. Biggest question marks are combat and difficulty; if they can do alright with that, then I'll be absolutely stoked.
2:53 and yet most AAA games still dont have those "simple" features. Look at Elden Ring for example, with its wooden npcs that only teleport around time from time to progress quests.
That's because the average zogbot buying games is so mindbroken and mazed they think games having half the features of the predecessor but 5% better graphics is a major improvement. They are not even human at this point
Kinda funny that when it comes to NPC's it's perfectly fair in your opinion to compare for example Gothic to Elden Ring, but if someone would come around and tell you that the combat in Gothic is garbage compared to any FromSoftware game, you would say "they are different games man". Not every game focuses on the same things. NPC's in FromSoftware games are not the focus whatsoever but tiny additions to the world. That's why literally 100% of them are optional and have little to no consequence to anything that's happening. Elden Ring focuses more on moment-to-moment gameplay, Gothic focuses on creating a more life-like RPG experience. Nonsense to compare the two just because both have RPG elements in a medieval-inspired fantasy world.
@@avelonzx nah, i would say combat is indeed garbage. It's 24 years old game afterall, so it's understandable. What isn't understandable is how a AAA modern hit doesn't have such simple feature in its open world design like npc schedules.
@@JC-kl3uc Because that's not their focus? What do you not understand? Every developer focuses on what they are good at and what they think is the most important to their game. Detailed NPC schedules aren't what Souls games are about, you are on a lonely journey in a desolate run-down world, not hanging around in vibrant towns and cities with hundreds of NPC's walking around. Gothic and Elden Ring have vastly contrasting game design principles. If you would understand game design you would see that. Why would Gideon Ofnir have a detailed daily schedule when you only go to the Roundtable Hold once every 10-15 hours or so to upgrade your weapon? Nonsense the heart of the game is the moment-to-moment gameplay while the heart of the gameplay in Gothic is interacting with the world and that includes the NPC's. Comparing apples to oranges.
@@avelonzx so if they'r not good at open world games and that's not their focus, they should stick to the more linear ones... otherwise I will criticise them for the lack of basic features.
I've always been very skeptical of the remake, then I saw this trailer which turned me less skeptical, then I realized it's been 5 years since the teaser, now I'm very skeptical again. But what I'm most afraid of personally is the NPCs' behavior. If the NPCs aren't gripped properly, even free climbing won't save this game.
I still have some issue with the visual identity of the remake. The colors blend together too much, perhaps as a result of the shader or engine, I dunno. In original Gothic, of course the game was "dark" and had a lot of browns, greys, dark greens, tans and muted blues. But those colors didn't blend together into a big mush. If you were standing on top of a hill, you could look down and see exactly what parts of the environment were dirt, stone, water, grass, swamp etc. With this new game, it feels like they've sucked all of the color out of the textures and they blend together. I think it hurts a bit of the visual distinctiveness of the zones.
My biggest question: Why does the narration in the trailer sound like Kurzgesagt? I was on a constant lookout for birds with headphones somewhere in the video...
Original Gothic 1 and 2 were released at the same time as Morrowind. And at that time, Piranha Bytes could compete with Bethesda. Their games had full speech and almost no loading screens (only when the map was changed). However, The Elder Scrolls were successful worldwide, while Gothic was and is a big thing only in Germany and Eastern Europe. But the modding community is still very active and prolific. The future of the Gothic franchise, though, depends on the success of the remake. Especially on the markets where it is widely unknown, America and Asia.
I'd rather it stay a niche game series. If it somehow becomes popular, then the series will turn to shit real quick. Sometimes it's better to stay in your successful niche, I can live with that and not having another favorite franchise go down in flames.
@@Xandemar51 I see no contradiction. The popularity can expand from Europe to the whole world and still be a niche product. And even a niche product has to compensate its development costs.
Hey! Thanks for your detailed overview of our gameplay trailer. Im glad that you liked it in general and I hope that your "cautiously optimistic" mood will change to "recommended, 10/10". From our side we will do our best to provide you the best version of Gothic Remake!
Please fix the slow combat. As we saw, a trained digger was attacking the hero in the old camp and his moveset was so slow and telegraphed. Trained combat in G1 and G2 was slick and responsive. Only untrained combat was slow, but that digger was clearly trained to an extent
@@Kevin5279but he was clearly fighting with heavier mace type weapon, it seems realistic that it feels heavy. It is confirmed that different weapons will have different playstyles, you also have pretty fast attack with one handed sword in this video 😊
@@DarthBeliarek if what you say is true then this game just became a thousand times better in my eyes. I still find this too good to be true, so I'll wait for Gamescom
The new playable demo was tested, although it isn't yet confirmed for public release. There's alot of videos around from the people who were able to test the new demo one way or another, many things were answered there including training, dialogue, combat stance change, cooking, UI and item usage, and actual climbing.
I am also still very much not convinced that the remake can hold a candle to the original games but at least the trailer shows a lot of steps in the right direction. After the first playable teaser I was like "this is never going to work". Now I at least have hope but there is still al lot to be seen if it is really what Gothic fans want from a remake.
I had figured the For Honor system we saw in the PT would be removed, but have they confirmed that there will be no more distinctions between lateral and forward attacks?
@@theor1962 person (from dev team) when asked about if "for honor" combat system: "No, the combat system is inspired and based on the original one" didn't give more details
I feel fairly optimistic about the remake. I don't expect them to make the game one-to-one with the original. What I'm hoping for is something similar to the RE4make where it feels like a different take on the same game/story while keeping some key aspects the same. I'd like both games to still stand on their own, if you get what I mean.
One other of my most beloved childhood games, Age of Empires 2, got a fantastic update in its 2019 definitive edition which hits the sweet spot for modernization while staying true to the original. However, the same studio first launched a DE version of Aoe1 which got lukewarm reception. So my hope for the Gothic series is that they’ll get to make a Gothic 2 remake (my favorite game ever) that’ll also hit the sweet spot after the studio listens to the feedback 😊
Yeah, I also dont like the "cinematic filter" where colors just looked washed out and shadows are a bright gray rather than deep black, it looks unnecessarily foggy, especially the castle walls from up close. The sky being bright blue rather than grey with a hint of brown smudges also seems suboptimal to me. It's a shame that the mosnter design isn't animalistic again, where orcs looked like apes, harpies looked like birds, goblins werent bald dudes who look like Pennywise and fire demons looked like ancient underworld creatures rather than ... humanoid fire dudes from diablo
I too have concerns that the combat is a little too slow. And not just the basic untrained combat. For example we see a sequence when a digger from the old camp attacks the player and this digger properly wields his weapon in 1 hand. But his attacks are way too slow and telegraphed as you mentioned. I asked their PR person on twitter about this and he just didn't respond
I was asking myself if the footage was slightly slowed down for some reason. Looks awkward as hell that way and could end up making the game not feel very good. I mean, if you see the animations on slow motion they look good, so the animation job seems fine to me, but if you play the video at normal speed, it just looks off because the speed seems unnatural.
Hm, they're going to have playable demo on gamescom, i imagine they can speed animations up by 20% without much issue, if feedback points it out. There's going to be a bunch of Gothic veterans around.
Every Gothic fan has their own concerns over this game, I imagine it's so difficult for the team to make decisions. For me personally I don't like the nameless hero design, the ponytail etc. but everything else looks really good here. (expect for the dive in attack for the molerat, come on even if you have never held a sword in your hand you would never attack it like this). Can't wait for the release!
I think they avoided showing much of the nameless hero's face because it's not finished yet. From what we could see, he didn't look like like a MC. Seemed even less detailed than some of the NPCs.
I dont think it will be a true Gothic 1, but since the writer from the Enderal team and Kai Rosenkranz from the original Piranha Bytes team is highly involved in this, I think this will be a very fun RPG
Of course, much of the trailer is promotional blabla. But that is the purpose of a trailer. Just look at the pictures. Maybe we should talk about the purpose of this remake. Gothic was released at the same time as Morrowind. And despite it was technically the better game, its success was limited to Germany and Eastern Europe, where an active and prolific community is still patching and modding the games until now. Since Piranha Bytes is closed down, Elex is already dead. So, if the Gothic franchise wants to have a future, with more instalments to come, this remake has to be successful. It has to convince the old fans by sticking close enough to the original, but also has to have worldwide acclaim, hitting the markets where the original is widely unknown. Because only if Gothic becomes a franchise which is played around the world rather than just locally in Europe, it will be profitable to create new games in the series.
I think the original two Gothic games had the potential to blow up like Dark Souls or Witcher did, but simply were unlucky to do so. Hopefully, this will change with the remake if done right.
I think idea is to make G1R, make enough to justify G2R, which should be much faster and thus cheaper to make, because of already working engine and most of assets. Basically just designer work at that point and than if that also does well, go bigger with G3R, where fans would allow for bigger changers, as it just doesn't have that story to follow and you can really work there.
1:30 I've never understand this. Who is Sarus ? Can somebody explain it to me ? Because I've gone through the whole trilogy several times, but the NPC with that name is nowhere to be found.
There are multiple shots of underwater areas in the trailer. One of which (seen at 0:08 of this video) I guessed right away was supposed to be Xardas' old tower due to the stone entranceway, but the one that I wasn't sure of (at 5:20) has a blue glow in places like it might be from the barrier or magic ore, and a bunch of wooden structures, both of which suggest another location than Xardas' old tower, like the Exchange Zone or the New Camp Lake.
I enjoyed the video. I agree, I'm very cautions when it comes to the climbing and I feel like the minecrawler scene would've been the "advanced" moveset, master better be much smoother than that. I appreciate them trying different move sets per weapon, I feel that's something only recent mods started to address in G2 and is good direction for them. But the "feel" seems there. It no longer looks like someone trying to make money of the name alone and it starts to look like Gothic.
@TheNocturnalRambler re 09:50 that's not a Snapper, possibly a Razor, or it might be something new! Certainly not a Snapper, in both the remake and the original they don't have those scales on the back, as seen at 2:40 in the trailer. Razors don't have those scales in the original, but maybe they changed them? In the trailer at 2:04 there's a lizard without scales, at 2:58 there's a few lizards without scales, so it doesn't seem to be lizards/warans. It doesn't look like the wobble of a lurker. So my guess is it's something new, to visually distinguish them from other monsters.
I think they are right to advertise NPC schedules. Starfield and Cyberpunk didn't do this properly, for example, so it's not really the genre staple it might have felt like it was in the post-Oblivion 360 days.
In my opinion it looks good. It's better than I expected. It's not perfect and nothing beats the original but it's not bad, you can feel the atmosphere. 🪵🖤
I think you are overanalysing the statements they are making. It's just marketing words to sell the game, much like the back cover descriptions were back in the day on the box of physical games.
I was waiting for this video so much man 😂 You are my go‐to when it comes to all things Gothic. And Im from Poland so thats saying something 😂 In Poland Gothic is like a religion so its weird that I see most of youtubers really hating on this gameplay and remake overall because I think it looks really faithful to the og.
I agree with everything exept the enemy redesign. They might be new types of enemies or keeping a lot of the old designs would not work with more realistic movement. I personally would welcome more enemy classes and better designed creatures form later games only to be expanded with more stuff. Because ultimately the games 2nd reason to exist outside of new graphics is to expand horisontally the story and bring to life a lot of removed things from the gothic alpha, such as the ability to become a Guru.
2:45 What did you say? It's good to stay critical but you don't really expect a living, "independend" game world to be the standard in gaming, do you? There is almost NO rpg to ever achieved this, including Skyrim, of course. To be fair, Gothic 1 +2 also don't have an independent game world, it was somewhat of a clever illusion. If they manage to pull this off, they not only add an important feature to Gothic, they would be one of the first devs to ever make it work. And that's why it probably won't happen.
Rambler, you made a small mistake. Alchemy did exist in G1; it wasn't as complex as in G2, but you could still produce potions at alchemy tables if you had empty flasks in your inventory.
After seeming a couple of streamers playing the new Gamescom demo, I have to say I absolutely fucking HATE that they are making the third person camera de-centered on the left in the remake. Alkimia, give me the traditional Gothic camera with the player character exactly in the middle, please. I'm not even kidding when I say this one single feature could be almost a deal-breaker in itself for me.
While playing Gothic 2 I kept thinking about this video. I'm not expecting anything anymore, but it would've been more reassuring if instead of a narration we would've heard classic lines said by the characters, similar to Dark Souls trailers. Imagine if we heard the iconic line from Bullit's original VA, or someone imitating it. This trailer seems more cinematic than gameplay. At least things are looking closer to the gloomy vibes of the first two games. Though, and this is a nitpick, that lightning strike lasted way too long. Also I'm not a fan of the redesigned enemies either - especially the orc armour. Orcs as they appeared in the first game wouldn't have had the technology to make anything that pristine. They also wouldn't make something that is showy I believe. Such details are what pull me into the world subconsciously.
I'm still cautiously pessimistic. The original teaser inspired no confidence, rather it did the opposite and so I have yet to trust the developers. Much to my annoyance, the devs have once again only released a sneak peek trailer and no in-depth gameplay showcase, and people are jumping the gun and getting suddenly hyped while only being given breadcrumbs. The game's been in active development for roughly three or so years and the radio silence before this trailer was deafening and to break the silence they used this barebones trailer and that makes me distrust the final product even more. The remake's success hinges on its combat, atmosphere and sense of progression and we haven't had a good look into either of these things, once we see either of these three aforementioned things then we can have a reasonable estimate over the game's quality and faithfulness to the original. I will say, however that the game does, at first glance, look pretty stunning and moody, and that places from the original are being recreated quite faithfully. But I need gameplay damn it. On that note, why a Spanish studio of all places and not a Polish or German studio? I'm bringing this up because Gothic was and is incredibly popular in Poland and Germany and I sincerely doubt it had any traction in Spain especially compared to these two countries.
I share your opinion too. I'll remain pessimistic until we have some detailed gameplay during Gamescom. On another note, Kai Rosenkranz on their discord did mention that the team is hard at work addressing not only the criticisms pointed out during the recent showcase but also their own backlog of issues. Apparently Embracer is pressurizing them to release the game before the end of this financial year (latest March 31st 2025), so they're crunching their way through the catalog. I don't entirely blame them because it seems to me that this lack of transparency was chiefly caused by THQ Nordic and Embracer. In fact the development process for the first two games was far more open and transparent than the corporate secrecy we're seeing now. There are several problems with the recent showcase and the monsters being dissimilar is the least of them
How was it that you said in the past about the original series ? "the Gothic series have destroyed my need to play anything else" ( or something like that ) Well that's exactly what happened to me as well : after seeing the masterpiece called Gothic(2001) and its sequel Gothic II ,there was no need for me to play anything similar because nothing could come close to its immersion/perfection. This applies to this remake: Although i'm curious to see what this remake will look like ,there is no way i'll have the urge to play/pay it myself. I will always return to my original masterpiece/love to spend my time ...😉
Could be they are future proofing the orcs for a potential Gothic 3 remake. The orcs in Gothic 1 & 2 never were a good fit for the conquerors who took over Myrtana and started running the show in Gothic 3. Look at the armored orc for an example, producing something like that needs fairly sophisticated smithing skills, and the orcs in Gothic 3 prided themselves as master blacksmiths. Maybe at least this way we won't get such horrible whiplash, if we ever get to a Gothic 3 remake.
They could always stay close to the original and make it so the Chorinis orcs were simply a different faction enslaved by the main continent orcs we see in G3.
The idea of civilized orks (at least as presented in G3) sucked shit though The whole series hypes them up as the end of mankind and then they turn out to be Shrek look-alikes who treat humans slightly worse than Rhobar did with his forced conscription and the whole mine valley You could do something here (G2 went for more generic evil orks compared to G1 which was a lot more ambiguous), but G3 is definitely not the way
There's been so much jerking around of the orcs and other bipeds that comparison to previous versions is really arbitrary. Each version has been different and unless you are the guy drawing the orc there is really nothing to base them on.
Why they don't collaborate with the original creators for what they would wanted to bring in the game but because of technology they couldn't do it?(what was their vision about the game, storyline and etc). This remake is their only idea or who come up with it? And another question, the voice acting, it's gonna be the same or they gonna hire new voice actors? I hope not..
Piranha Bytes closed a few weeks ago and most of the founding members left way before that. But Kai Rosenkranz (developer & composer of the original music) is involved in the development of the remake.
I just can't get over the fact that they completely redesigned the creatures. It just doesn't feel gothic anymore. What's the point of creating a remake if they are not interested in capturing the original experience?
my expactations for the fame:0 i played g1 12 times and g2 19 times. i loves these games. there is no way i could be happy with the remake. i will try it. i will pirate it though and buy it, should i actually like it. but i doubt it.
I never played Gothic but knew of it. If they can make a half way decent game that isnt woke I will give it a shot. Just those two things alone would put this well above almost all AAA games made today. But I will be watching reviews before I pay my money for it.....learned that lesson the hard way, thanks Starfield.
Why do people still ramble about the playable teaser and make comparisons? Do y'all live under a rock? The devs said long ago that the teaser was intentionally made very different in order to get a stronger feedback. They accomplished their goals with the teaser 100% and then some. Now people just have to forget that it exist. It was never meant to be for u as a fan finally getting some of Ur fix. It was for the devs to gather information and that's it...
Disagree on expanding alchemy and cooking. Especially cooking. This should not be present in the colony, because its a prison, with thiefs and murderers, not Gordon Ramsays. Couple of them will be ok, but not more than 5
Oh I would definitely want it to remain reasonably simple, but it does make logical sense to have some more cooking recipes. After all, we have an entire quest with Snaf to gather ingredients for a new recipe, and he presumably has plenty of other recipes under his belt. He may not be Gordon Ramsay, but he seems to enjoy cooking and is using his skills to leverage a better position for himself within the Old Camp. He's just one guy, but there's gotta be other people who know how to cook, or who want to eat more varied meals than just boiling plain rice or frying scavenger meat. They have somewhat limited means and a limited selection of ingredients, though, so obviously it shouldn't be anything too fancy.
@@TheNocturnalRambler agree, for example there can be a quest related to a Gomez cook, who has a secret recipe and we can obtain it by different means. And couple recepies for cooking fish, booze and rice in the New Camp
Those would make for good recipes and quests. Bartholo* actually has a comment about Gomez being picky about his chefs and feeding the last ones to lurkers, and we can see two named NPC's (with no unique dialogue) in the kitchen working with assorted ingredients like ham and cheese that I'm guessing are brought in from the outside. So there's definitely room for some good quests and cooking stuff to be borne from that premise.
actually cooking in restaurants is much more about not wasting anything and many times even with less expensive ingredients because you can make more $$$ like that
Perhaps you should have a conversation with people who have actually been in prison. They would all tell you how wrong you are quite quickly. Even criminals like good food, and nothing about being a thief or a murderer prevents one from being able to cook properly, just like being a cook doesn't prevent one from committing murder or theft, thus becoming a thief and/or a murderer.

Then repeat it should you decide on another crafting skill...Oh and if you decide not to craft a skill the items will still be part of the loot (this is obviously worse in witcher, where you are just spamming a button while running past stuff to pickup hundreds of materials you might never take a look at)
@@Kappi__ Witcher 3 is still a golden standard as far as open world AAA RPGs go, that wasn't matched by any other game besides Cyberpunk 2077.
man I love crafting so I hope they go all in there. I always thought gothic could use it alot more since there is so much stuff lying around and getting better armor and weapon is a huge deal in these games. archolos was dream come true for me. honestly I think you cant go wrong with crafting, if you dont like it because it feels tedious for you just dont do it and for people that like it its there. win win

I think the only thing I dislike about the new presentation is the ludicrous animation of that water mage turning the pages of the manuscript he's reading.
dats like best part. authentic junk
That's already a meme if you ask me 😂
But I see what you mean ;)
According to to their PR person, it's a magical animation as his hands don't touch the page. But I'd still say they should have kept more distance between the hand and the page so people can instantly notice it's a magical animation
@@Kevin5279 OK cool, haven't heard that so far. Seems like a cool idea but the execution needs some refinement 😁
@@Kevin5279 Their PR person is full of shit then, Why would anyone use magic just to make turning pages more difficult. I mean, just look at that elaborate animation, all that effort when the mage could just turn the page the traditional way. xD
I think the whole idea is just bad, mages don't need to be made to seem "more magical" by adding this sort of nonsense. I absolutely resent this entire idea, and I really hope they forget this foolishness and just make a proper page-turning animation where the mage does it the traditional way using their actual fingers.
I really hope that this game is gonna hit KINDA big. So they are set to do an even better Gothic 2!

Exactly.
Expect the worst, and anything better is good.
Exactly my kind of thinking.
I think when they talk about "life simulation" they mean NPC daily schedule.
Because the game is... German?
@@Nikioko Haha, that could be a part of it. The English speaking host of Kurzgesagt isn't German, though.

Please fix the slow combat. As we saw, a trained digger was attacking the hero in the old camp and his moveset was so slow and telegraphed. Trained combat in G1 and G2 was slick and responsive. Only untrained combat was slow, but that digger was clearly trained to an extent

Good Analysis well done!
They need to fix the attack animations being so slow.

Playing Gothic 3 right now, I started to think that in a perfect world Gothic would be remade by Piranha Bytes themselves, in the Elex engine.
Hopefully they have proper gameplay footage at Gamescom

@@JC-kl3uc Yes, the Witcher games are heavily influenced by Gothic, which was very successful in Poland.
Hey! Glad you make video on the trailer.
BTW I think you really should play Gothic: Archolos
1:30 I've never understand this. Who is Sarus ? Can somebody explain it to me ? Because I've gone through the whole trilogy several times, but the NPC with that name is nowhere to be found.
From what I heard. Gameplay droping around mid of the month, going to be uncut 30mins. (Or atleast not cut every 2 seconds, lol
I can't believe you didn't recognize the underwater area, it's almost certainly Xardas' old abandoned tower where you go to collect the ore armor
What texture mod is used in gameplay videos from original Gothic?
It's called the L'Hiver edition. It enhances textures and enables Direct X 11
In my opinion it looks good. It's better than I expected. It's not perfect and nothing beats the original but it's not bad, you can feel the atmosphere. 🪵🖤
It will be the Dark Souls killer eveveryone was looking for.
Nah, it would be an Elex killer at most if it wasn't already dead.
I think you are overanalysing the statements they are making. It's just marketing words to sell the game, much like the back cover descriptions were back in the day on the box of physical games.
I was waiting for this video so much man 😂
You are my go‐to when it comes to all things Gothic. And Im from Poland so thats saying something 😂
In Poland Gothic is like a religion so its weird that I see most of youtubers really hating on this gameplay and remake overall because I think it looks really faithful to the og.
I hope Unreal Engine 5 will be able to map young Mike Hoges face realistically on the prisoner!
Interesting insight. At first I though really positive about the climbing shown, but now I am much more sceptical.
Are you going to gamescon?
It will be playable at Gamescom. They eagerly wait for everyone to try it.
Within you lives the soul of Gothic
"the Gothic series have destroyed my need to play anything else" ( or something like that )
Well that's exactly what happened to me as well : after seeing the masterpiece called Gothic(2001) and its sequel Gothic II ,there was no need for me to play anything similar because nothing could come close to its immersion/perfection.
This applies to this remake:
Although i'm curious to see what this remake will look like ,there is no way i'll have the urge to play/pay it myself.
I will always return to my original masterpiece/love to spend my time ...😉
Wow. Amazing analysis. Thumbs up!
(I want to fight Gothic Orcs, not those in the trailer!)
Reminder: Distrusting the publisher first is the wise thing. They lied A LOT about the data they published about the playable teaser.
If Gothic 3 ever gets remade the only thing worth keeping from the original would be the music.
G3 isn't something you should take a reference from.
They could always stay close to the original and make it so the Chorinis orcs were simply a different faction enslaved by the main continent orcs we see in G3.
The idea of civilized orks (at least as presented in G3) sucked shit though
The whole series hypes them up as the end of mankind and then they turn out to be Shrek look-alikes who treat humans slightly worse than Rhobar did with his forced conscription and the whole mine valley
You could do something here (G2 went for more generic evil orks compared to G1 which was a lot more ambiguous), but G3 is definitely not the way
Wonder if they will portray the women like in the original. I doubt it.
Who cares if they do or not? That's not a must have element. It'll look borderline p*rnographic in today's graphic
i liked what i saw, i hope the final game is good
In the words of a certain Titan Lord ( Looks Good)
There's been so much jerking around of the orcs and other bipeds that comparison to previous versions is really arbitrary. Each version has been different and unless you are the guy drawing the orc there is really nothing to base them on.
Either way I’m still looking forward to this game I love to the first and second third was kind of a let down the fourth was alright

Why do people still ramble about the playable teaser and make comparisons? Do y'all live under a rock? The devs said long ago that the teaser was intentionally made very different in order to get a stronger feedback. They accomplished their goals with the teaser 100% and then some. Now people just have to forget that it exist. It was never meant to be for u as a fan finally getting some of Ur fix. It was for the devs to gather information and that's it...
It is a reminder to never trust devs. And you've fallen for their trap.
They are deaf and blind. Is the only explanation.
