It is indeed a very diverse country both culturally and geographically . Picking Vegas, LA and NY as your flavor points of the US is like choosing Blackpool and London as representative of the UK. I would recommend you try smaller cities such as Savannah, Memphis, Baton Rouge etc to get a better feel.

You should’ve experienced the real America by going to county fairs, etc. You went to some of the most touristy places and then sought out areas most Americans would never go. You should return and visit places crowdsourced by actual Americans who can guide you to the right places. Imagine someone spent a month in places like Camden and then assessed the UK that way. Chicago has amazing architecture, food and hospitality but if you go to the areas where gangs are, it’s horrid there.

Thank u. You reinspired me as an American. I don't think Venice Beach or Vegas strip are the best cross sections of real normal America. The real America lies in the land, it's majestic beauty, fom the oceans, lakes, forests to the Rocky Mountains and grand titans. A land so vast and diverse.
Same here. As child growing up in the Philippines, I as most Filipinos do think that the USA is the best place on earth as portrayed in Hollywood flicks where almost everything is perfect. But as I grew up I saw things differently with the advent of social media, things like homelessness, mass shootings, etc slapped me with reality that the place I regard so much is indeed just as imperfect from where I am. I told myself, there is no place in world that I like to live the rest of my life than the country of my birth. But that just me.
i never knew they had rental camper vans like that, wow cool sad that vegas doesn't have coin machines anymore. It sounded so quiet compared to visiting as a child or what has been shown in movies with the clinging of coins everything now is digital

The US is such a diverse place, and please don't let our politics be the thing you judge us by. Yes, it's on big display right now. I lean liberal myself. However, I live in a typically conservative state, but I know regardless of political belief, everyone in my state would do almost anything for one another. And politics aside, most everyone in the US would give the shirt off their back to help a fellow countryman out. People act differently online, or when politics becomes the topic, but the American way has always been friendly and helpful. I also lived on the east coast for a while, and being from the South, it was a hard adjustment personality wise, but I learned that people on the east coast were equally, if not more genuine, but they were just to the point and much more direct. They live in large cities where their time is at a premium, so getting to the point quickly and efficiently is always a priority. My favorite was living on the west coast, south of LA in Laguna Niguel. Beautiful beaches, mountains, wonderful people, easy going life. Absolute best time of my life. Personally, I'm not very loud and boisterous like some people are in the US, but some here definitely are. We have a huge range of people and they vary depending on region, and even regions within regions, and city to city. The US is so big that you really need to spend at least a year here visiting much more than you did to get a grasp on the tip of the iceberg of American culture. New York, LA, and Las Vegas aren't the only representations of the US, though they are representations for sure. I don't want to discount those who live in those cities. All 3 of them have contributed immensely to American culture. But so many others have as well. Come back and spend some time. I'd love to show you around, from one fellow world traveler to another.
