04:25 Main problem of California and LA is. Some parts of California are rich to mucth that some ordinary people(non IT eengineeers, non acctors, non real estate owners and agents, non showbussines people) can not afford life in a rich country such California is. GDP of California is over 105 000 us dollars per capital. GDP of somee cities like San Diego or San Jose is over 200 000 us dollars per capital, per resident. But that GDP is not redistributed equally. And thats the main problem. For examplee, GDP per capital of China is 28 000 us dollars. It means. Average californian makes a 5 times moree money for californian state then average man in China.

You visited the scummiest parts of LA - Hollywood and Skid Row. It's WAY better in the outskirts where all the homes are. Just like any city, there are good and horrible parts. The horrible parts of LA happen to be in downtown/Hollywood/Compton, just like the horrible part of Chicago is southside. So, I would be careful to make a blanket statement like "All of LA is crazy" based on visiting the worst parts.

New research from Shelter shows at least 309,000 people in England will spend Christmas without a home, including almost 140,000 children. This is a stark increase of 14%, 38,100 people, in one year.
Shelter’s comprehensive analysis of official homelessness figures and responses to Freedom of Information requests reveals 1 in 182 people in England are homeless today. The charity’s research shows homelessness has risen rapidly in just 12 months: over 3,000 people are sleeping rough on any given night (26% increase) and 279,400 are living in temporary accommodation (14% increase) - most of whom are families. There are also 20,000 people in hostels or supported accommodation.

Ok, I just had to put my 2 cents in. I am from Los Angeles and I've only been to Hollywood twice I think in my whole life. Los Angeles is HUGE. Hollywood (where most residents in other parts of LA don't bother to go, it's a tourist trap) is only a very small part of this huge city. Hollywood does not = Los Angeles, Los Angeles does not = California, and California does not = US. That would be like me going to London and hearing about all the stabbings that I read about and then going wow ENGLAND is so bad. If you would have gone west from there you would have seen Beverly Hills, Westwood, Santa Monica, etc. They definitely don't look like that. You say you want to see authentic places in other countries, but for California you chose the worst tourist trap area and skid row. California is bigger than England and Scotland combined. If you go north there's so many beautiful forests, go east there's some mountains and desert, go west we have all the famous beaches, if you're south you can visit mexico for the day and get some good food. I'm not saying it's perfect at all. It's too crowded and too expensive to live here. But everywhere has their own issues. It was disappointing seeing something that was so one sided.

You're just perpetuating the same with this video Harry. For example, you say, when comparing California's GDP, you follow that with, "it's still a huge city slash county." Harry, California is a STATE, one of (50) in the Union. Which brings me to my next point...
Los Angeles represents just one city in a state that is nearly 1300 miles north to south, and 300+ miles east to west. Hollywood in no way represents what the living conditions are like for the 3.9 million people of LA County, nor the remaining 32,000,000 people in the whole state. Stop it Harry, just stop.

Born and raised in LA. It's sad how bad it's gotten. But a little bit of context on the homeless situation. I used to volunteer at the soup kitchen in Skid row. LA actually has one of the best (not great but better than other places in the US) programs for homeless people so homeless people from all over the country take a bus to LA so that they can have access to food, shelter, and social services. Don't get me wrong, LA needs to do a lot more. But the city is unfairly ridiculed by other cities in the US and we're actually picking up the slack for THEIR homeless problems too.

Went to California twice 2015 and 2017 from Indiana Hollywood extreme letdown. Went to Venice, Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Santa Monica2015 and Oceanside San Diego and Hollywood and Santa Monica again 2017 and multiple other places. Loved it except for people trying to sell you things. I have heard since then it’s really bad. Loved everywhere except from Hollywood.

It's a race to the bottom, between California and NY. Our crackheads in NY, I believe, are tougher. Although, I hear LA crackheads can hold their own. The rest of America is going the same route, unfortunately. At this point, I think natives still living solitude in the jungle have a better quality of life than we do.

Pretty ridiculous to go to the worst parts of the city and make statements such as "most of LA" is like that, or that the city is in decline. Each society has to decide how to handle people who would rather sit around and do drugs than participate in society. Obviously, some places handle this problem in more effective ways.

Homelessness from a lack of affordable housing and when you don't have a home address, I don't think you can get social services and welfare benefits. Making housing more accessible and affordable would be a step in the right direction.
