I remember that the youth flying club wasn’t that accessible too. Either that or most kids wouldn’t have the exposure to know to join the youth flying club unless they come from at least upper mid-class family backgrounds imo. Also even though they often say that “anyone can apply” to be a pilot, the compass test and other tests quite literally require applicants to have prior training to pass. The competition is stiff so kids who have “tuition” (YFC) have an immense headstart. It’s designed to be an “aptitude” test but it has become more like “who has more prior training”. Yes, the world is unfair in that way.
wah but anecdotally, there are so many ppl from airforce leaving to go to SQ and Scoot to be commercial pilots, cos of redtape and other inherent hierarchical issues tied with the military. that's an interesting perspective though from Capt Fiona
Shoutout regarding Alison's bottle - I have a similar version of it, one of the best insulation bottles I have, underrated product seriously considering how inexpensive it is compared to Stanley, Camelbak, etc
