I'm 34, but I'm pretending to be 40 so I can watch this video.
I'm 51, moved to Florida and attending Skyborne Academy. Just got my PPL and now completing my Commercial and Instrument. I already have low hour job opportunities in another 6 months when I'm done. Many companies WANT older pilots - it's more than just flying experience when you're talking about dealing with wealthy clientele, expensive equipment and safety factors. Lean in to your emotional intelligence and ability to show up better as a mature adult. My school is mostly 19-25 yr old males... all headed to the airlines. Lotta pilot jobs out there that isn't flying an Airbus for the majors. Thank you for all your mentoring guys...I absorbed all your videos when I was thinking about doing this 18 months ago. Really helped me navigate this journey!
That's absolutely fantastic Robin! I'm glad we were able to help you on your journey. Good luck on your new career.
@@ProPilotPlaybook - Thank you. And update - I do NOT recommend Skyborne Academy for anyone that's reading this. Yikes!!
@@RobinReedCoach Can you elaborate on this out of curiosity?
Super helpful man- thank you!
@RobinReedCoach - Any updates on SkyBorne / Delta Propel? Have there been any improvements?
I'm 41 years old, 34 hours, & broke! lol
39 retired early and looking for Career 2.0 so glad I found your channel.
This channel deserves million subscribers and a billion dollars
Thank you Tony! I couldn't agree more. -Sean Richey: Co-Founder, Pro-Pilot Playbook
I'm almost 40 and don't like spending money so I think this will still apply to me.
36, zero hours, comfortably broke BUT highly motivated
27, 4 hours from 10 years ago and highly motivated to go after my dream!
Very encouraging episode
About to turn 43. I started training at a Part 61 at end of 2019, it took me 2.5yrs with 175hrs. I overpaid too. But not looking back. Going forward- at this point I'm at zero balance. I am not being approved for loans, I tried with coapplicant too. I was thinking to do a detour and take 2-3yrs off working intensely to pay off some old loans, and save for training, and then continue training after. What is your advice on that? I really don't see another way of getting the funds.
That is exactly my situation. I am 39, will be forty in 3 months. Broke, and no hours. This is my video 🤣
Same page here 😂😂
Near there... im 37 and recently found the desire to do this!
Any of you made the jump into flying yet?
40 in 4 months and your comment came up with the video. The universe is talking to us
Apporaching 40 in 4 months
Will keep you updated thx for answering
Jose, these guys are full of wisdom. Having a job you don't like or doesn't pay well is the perfect reason to stop and become a pilot. Where you out of? oh btw don't say a town I want an ICAO airport code. I was training out of 4B9 and will be transitioning to KHFD or KMMK. Start living and breathing airplanes. Also, start studying for the written. When I showed up for hour 1 I already read most of the POH of N5212E and studied the airspace. I knew runway 3 / 21 lengths and displaced threshold on 21. I already knew the 70%/50% rule and briefed it with my instructor. I also had a plan for an engine failure at each phase and discussed it with my CFI. Remember that airplane is a terrible classroom so save that for the ground and study study study to prepare for your first flight. Oh get used to the phrase "Right Rudder". Most importantly enjoy the ride. Blue Skies -Tony
@@tonyrosa9885 Good advise Tony!
@@tonyrosa9885hey Tony I'm taking my intro flight this week starting school this September I'm still broke but I am saving all I can. Will send you a video of my progress 😁 will be attending epic flight academy in fl.
Did you go through training yet?
I really enjoyed this podcast, any ideas on some other large schools besides American Flyers and ATP? I’m in San Antonio, Texas and wanting to take your advice and go quickly.
10:55 Yes..get a job (part time) even..
At the airport
.You can gas planes.clean..move them..and touch them. And you can touch them you can schedule a little flight time here and there
Get in good with flight school owner..swallow that pride.."Yse Sir Yes Mam..." Ask questions...don't ne too pushy but most people thzt fly like to "hanger talk:....( BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER)
The MAIN thing is relax enjoy yourself...
The best feeling in the world is to wake up in the morning.. maybe a weekend...look outside..( a little cloudy. But)
Go to to your local arport...go to the hanger...and......
There she is.....❤
All primed and raring to go...
You know the rest

Thanks for the content guys, im in a similar situation ill be 32 this year and i have baby coming in november. I travel for work ALOT and i've considered becoming a pilot, specifically a corporate pilot. Do you guys have any content on how the financing and housing works for places like atp?
Did you start your training?
Yea, give us an update lol. Same boat
Guys, If I learn to fly light jets would I be able to fly single a duel prop plains?
I'm 51 just got my private pilot license. How can I go further
Its been a life dream of mine to be a pilot, im in dallas, and have bad credit.
Hi David. I recommend listening to Dave Ramsey. Debt sucks, it is modern day indentured servitude. Borrowing money for an asset that depreciates is short sighted. Also I see a bunch of "poor" people rocking $1,200 i-phones. Get a cheap car like a older camry or honda and drive it until the wheels fall off, then put the wheels back on and drive it so more. Also, 2 jobs until you are out of debt. I promise in two years there will be a different David Sabins posting about how he just finished his PPL.
I'm 53 yrs old a Veteran that's ready for a new challenge. I'm at a point in my life financially that this would not create a hardship for me or my family. Thoughts?
Go for it! Buy their program and get at it! That’s an order!
Will I need to take a mandatory vaccine in order to get my pilots license? Same question regarding a commercial license? Thank you.
Hi Robert, the vaccine is not required by the FAA in the US. However, some employers may require it.
Literally me. Divorce is wrecking me. 40 - need a new career W-2
Hang in there brotha
Same here. I'm 42 and recently divorced. Not only do I want to pursue my childhood dream now, but I also want to make my ex-wife regret leaving me.
@@timrich7861 hell yeah
@@timrich7861do it!
Do it! I’m 50 divorced and HATE my job! But have no debt, but would take on new debt. To do this
Guess I need to hang out at the airport.
Yes Martin!!
@@ProPilotPlaybook I'm still going to check out the airport and do some discovery flights, but financing seems beyond me :(
how am i supposed to finance flight school when my credit is terrible
I'm 42, not broke, but I don't think I can learn full-time because I currently have a full-time job. Also, I'm recently divorced and have my 3 kids every other week. And so I wouldn't have the support needed to just quit my job and learn to fly full-time. I welcome any and all advice on this.
Fannie Mae can cover living expenses at ATP
My recommendation; do not use a for profit flight school. Use a flying club. Your colleagues will have your best interest at heart. They know what you are up against. They have been there
Hard question, unfortunately there is no a magic formula.
I completely disagree that "the money is the easy part"... that is just mind boggling to me?! Money is definitely NOT the easy part. Financing is not that easy sir.
Literally my thoughts too the money is the hardest part for me
Exactly, if money was the easy part I'd be a pilot already instead just dreaming about it.
Guys! FACT! if a-hole could fly D.C. would be an airport!
"Your going to need to quit your job". So this sort of career change is only available for the rich?
