Best review I've seen on the Seltos, actual car guy perspective. Will be checking it on test drive for how sorted (or not) the suspension is. Never thought I'd be in the Cramped Urban Vehicle market, but need a second car for errands that can double for getting past lame DOT chain restrictions with AWD. My Sienna SE with Blizzaks will remain my first choice for ski trips with clear weather in the forecast.
Bought one of these in the FWD 'S' trim back in February, and love it. Traded in a Soul because of the better cargo space in the Seltos, and am getting better gas mileage, in the 34-36 mpg range (actually get better mpg in mixed driving, which I assume is because of the Intelligent-Stop-Go feature that some may not like). And I have yet to see another one on the road - maybe that's bad, but sure makes it easy to find the car in a parking lot. This is a car I plan to keep for a while if it is reliable, but with the warranty, should be good for at least 5 years anyway.
I could actually see myself using that sounds of nature thing. On a long drive, or even just on my way home after a hard day at work, I think that would really great for reducing stress.
Just bought this car in this color and love it. Also I had no problem connecting w/Bluetooth. The yellow/black color combo is edgy and a lot better than the same old drab colors everyone seems to like. Anyway different strokes for different folks. The only thing I would like to change is the ISG which is the default but something I don't like as it seems fluttery when starting off from a stop. Enjoyed your review.
The color reminds me of one of the colors available on the 99-02 Mercury Cougar (not sure specifically which year(s)). Mercury called it "Ash Gold" but the general consensus was they were off by one letter.
AWESOME! Great review guys. I’m actually shopping for this segment for my sons who are new drivers. I was at Kia today and stopped in my tracks when I saw the Seltos and thought...hmmm...nice looking car...DCT? Hmmm....I’m glad you guys reviewed it and had positive things to say. I’m a fan of Kia and the direction they are going. In comparo to the Cross trek, this seems, at least on paper, to be much peppier. I have yet to drive a Subaru with an interesting engine (talking Cross Trek, Forrester, or Outback). I’m also shopping the Hyundai Kona and Mazda CX-30! So, we’ll see how it plays out. Interesting about the ride quality and brake feel...I get that same sense from the Honda CRV we currently own...very bouncy and grippy brakes...Wonder if that’s what they were shooting for in order to compare to the CRV...
Gents. Got to drive two version of the Seltos today. The EX with the naturally aspirated 2.0L with the CVT, and the S Turbo with the 1.6 liter turbo with the DCT. Shockingly, I liked both. Comparing it to my 2017 CRV (which I know is the next size up and not the direct competitor), I liked everything about the Seltos over the CRV. If you guys think this car was bouncy, the CRV will be like driving a pogo stick. The CVT in the Seltos was miles better than Honda’s as was their 1.6 liter turbo over the Honda 1.5 liter turbo, likely due to pairing it with the CVT vice the DCT in the Seltos. Interior, hands down to the Seltos. The Honda infotainment system is junk (pretty much the same they use in the Acura). I had the same trouble as Todd with pairing my phone (iPhone 11 Pro) in the first car. In the S Turbo I had no issues. However, in the first car, I had plugged it in and got CarPlay running first before trying to pair. In the second, I paired it first and then connected it. More drive homework this week with the Subaru Crosstrek Sport (I’m reading the new 2.5L engine is quicker than the previous 2.0), Mazda CX-30, and the Hyundai Kona.
@@rbielarski To be honest, I didn’t notice a big difference and it’s been a while...I’d have to drive them again. I’m waiting for the SX Turbo to arrive later this month to test them again. I’ll re-post then.
You guys forgot the Acura RLX hybrid ..... yes it’s a hybrid ... yes it has 7 speed dual clutch .... I think that takes the cake on one of these things is not like the other ....
Yep we have one and road noise is bad transmission over heat 10 min into any type of off-roading But. But. But. It’s just so comfortable and agile quick around town and road trips
Kia decided to not bring the ventilated seats to the US market. I kinda liked this vehicle, it was on my shortlist. Unfortunately, without ventilated seats, it can't be a consideration. I like the Sorento tho.

Got my 2022 Seltos and love it! No blue tooth issues for me. Thanks for the review guys even though I am late to the party hehe
This might be a contender for the run around family car… great stuff thanks guys.

When will you guys do the new K5? I'm pumped to test one out and I'm curious what you think of it!
These guys love this DCT.. many testers hate it

Paul looks super happy because it's a kia. Especially talking about DCG
Really enjoying this channel. Need you guys to link the XC 40 video in the description. I feel like it’s a good cross pollinating reference.

Hi, which would be a better driver's car in your opinion? This Kia Seltos Turbo or 2022 Kona N-Line? Thanks!
This is where you come when you’ve seen a million walk arounds and want something different

Hey Pete, do you think the EX trim road better than the S turbo trim on your test drives?

@@petegalindez9961 Thank you!
My dealer finally got an SX Turbo in stock that I will drive back to back with the EX tomorrow. So, I will answer your Q then.
@@petegalindez9961 That's great, thanks so much!
I LOVE that color

Nice review! I dont like the color but at least it's a different color people can choose if they want. :)
Does anybody else notice that for 2022-23, Honda has updated their HR-V to look more like the KIA Seltos?
I heard the road and wind noise is atrociously bad in this car and the DCT loves to overheat
Yep we have one and road noise is bad transmission over heat 10 min into any type of off-roading But. But. But. It’s just so comfortable and agile quick around town and road trips
“Seltos” sounds like the name of some Greek guy.
Hey Todd and Paul, do you guys not see a lot of VWs in your press fleet?
That's intentional - the name is inspired by Celtus, the son of Heracles in Greek mythology.

I like the Sorento tho.
It’s in Canada
I have this vehicle and mine has a sunroof.
And BTW I love my car and same color as on video and it's beautiful 😍
How about a Paul approved method of debadging cars. I know it is probably just left over brand snobbery but I cant take the Kia badge.
That’s a mustard not yellow.
It's similar to BMW's Austin Yellow, a mustard shade in the dark and highlighter bright in the sun
Love the colour.....
@@joejackson1541 It's so great to see manufacturers moving away from the blacks, whites, and greys
Who comes up with these names?
I wish it had a sun roof
You CAN get this car with a sunroof, just not in the two-tone color scheme.
Mentos or Seltos
🔥🔥🔥
You don’t like yellow...ok.. buy a blue one
Unattractive styling (IMO).
Tin ka dabba low quality🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Bad ride and bad brakes mean this is garbage. Listen to some of their words. Stay away.
