When I went from 50mg to 25mg with Zoloft - I had really bad withdrawal symptoms and went back to 50mg. Now I am tapering from 50mg to 40mg and ready to go down to 30mg! I had to make sure to incorporate a lot of exercise to generate the dopamine to compensate
So informative, thank you. Please can you tell me, would you divide the pill weight by the number of milligrammes or the other way round. For example 160( wt) ÷ 2mgs or 2 mgs ÷ 160 to get the dose of the tablet ?
you decide what you want your cut to be. e.g., I want a 2% cut of a 1mg klonopin. then you weight the 1mg tablet, next you would mulitply the weight of the tablet by 98%. Then you would know when to stop shaving the tablet. e.g., the tablet weighs 10mg so 10mg x 98% = 9.8mg - ill shave the 10mg tab until the scale shows 9.8 mg. If you ingested the tablet it would be a 0.98mg of klonopin
@@taperclinic😂 that is approximately how I guessed at tapering in 2008. I am so grateful to be alive and able to type this even semi coherently, now! 😅 Something I did then was one small sliver of a pill every other day, then every third day, until I was down to one every 5th day, in the last 5 weeks of my tapering. I was very diligent at it, and fortunately didn't have extreme, or complex, withdrawal symptoms in my 6 month process. Most of what I read up on came from surviving patients blogs and comment posts describing how to survive severe medication mismanagement. Is what I did, spacing days towards the end, a part of the tapering process, or was that just me winging it like most of my recovery? 😅
What is the theory of tapering? When do you not need to taper? I started with 18mg of ritalin for seven days and then 38mg on the eight day after which I stopped cold turkey. Did I make the right call or should I have gone down to 18mg, then 9mg, 4,5mg?

But this video looks like it was posted in 2023? Was it recorded along time ago and she’s also talking about slow tapering off Valium not being cold turkeyed off Ativan. I’m confused. Can someone please clarify? Thank you !!!
I can help. Christy Huff lost her life to her BIND symptoms in March 2024. She was five years off the benzo. She was still complaining of significant waves as little as 8 months before she died. We assume she was hit by a neurological flare with some akathisia perhaps.

not necessarily. it's not predictable. If you cold turkey, then you could have serious w/d. Then, you might try to reinstate, which could send your systems into chaotic hyperarousal. Be very very careful.
I’m still heartbroken and trying to make sense of it. You probably got better than I ever will. That said, no one should have to do this 5 mins longer than they feel capable. You were always a Twitter away. Hope you finally found some peace.
No matter how long the half-life of a drug, it's always better to split up the daily dose into multiple doses. If your daily dose is 1mg, taking 0.25mg 4 times per day will carry you better than taking 1mg in the morning. Long halflife gives the illusion of it not mattering much. A prime example of halflife being an illusion how lorazepam has a longer effect on holding back seziures than valium even though Valium has a much longer half life and Valium has metabolites with 4-8 day half lives and lorazepam has no active metabolites yet it's effective longer. but there is much more going on than half life like how Lipophilic the drug is and how it diffuses into body tissues or fat.

Don’t panic it’s not a one glove fits all for everybody . experiment with what works for you. Do some due diligence and research and just keep on keeping on everybody’s different and how they taper and everybody’s different on how long it takes go slow and be patient and loving with yourself. ❤🙏🏼 because we all respond differently to things. Therefore, what works for one person may not work for another❣️
This newly minted practice of so called "experts" appropriating a knowledge space as their hegemonic territory so as to then ramble on and on with statements of th e obvious, it's the new normal of the new norm-hole. And it really sucks. I'm quitting tobacco, and have found the pattern very similar to that encountered in severe benzo addiction whereby the initital phase yields withdrawal reactions so severe as to profoundly re-inforce the dependency, this by way of creating more trauma. Finally, and only after several months pushing into withdrawal -trauma, am I finding it possibly to actually push back on the dependency so as to wean off. Even so, today's professional class culture is so stupid, hegemonic, arrogant, childish and vile that we ought best to be pondering the idea of the mass decertification of the professional class per the criminally insane cohort of textbook yammering trash that we of the salaried class have always been. Mindless, heartless, incompetent and arrogant, we destroy just aboue everything and everybody we touch, and this is by design. But we're too stupid and hooked to the smell of our own butt-cracks to so much as acknowledge our own penchent for buraucratized violence.. So it was for me in teaching, same in big law and medical science not to mention the clergy, all of us in these so called "helping" and "control " professions respectively are horrible creatures.
Most of it stems from over inflated egos..and doing what mummy and daddy want/ did..not because of empathy or compassion....that's why. Not saying EVERY one is. But it's certainly a culture.

And how to taper extended release pills like concerta or Bupropion ,wellbutrin ? Bcoz the doses especialy in Bupropion are masive 😢
I had luck. Went from 150 to 100 to 50 mg zoloft and are now on 25 mg
How are you doing now?
When I went from 50mg to 25mg with Zoloft - I had really bad withdrawal symptoms and went back to 50mg. Now I am tapering from 50mg to 40mg and ready to go down to 30mg! I had to make sure to incorporate a lot of exercise to generate the dopamine to compensate
Fantastic
Something I did then was one small sliver of a pill every other day, then every third day, until I was down to one every 5th day, in the last 5 weeks of my tapering.
That's a good suggestion. I wouldn't have thought about ever other day, and then every third, then fifth day. ❤ Thank You.
What is the theory of tapering? When do you not need to taper? I started with 18mg of ritalin for seven days and then 38mg on the eight day after which I stopped cold turkey. Did I make the right call or should I have gone down to 18mg, then 9mg, 4,5mg?
Search for the Ashton manual for tapering benzodiazepines.
And Rxisk "guide stopping antidepressants" for tapering "antidepressants" drugs.
Nobody really knows. You will have to taper based on how you feel.
Best wishes.

RIP Dr Huff 😥
Rest in peace Dr Christy❤
When did she die and was it related to her benzo withdrawal?
@@jeanmank6342no way she died she was out for years after a good taper? I don’t think she’s dead. Maybe I’m wrong
No words. Just no words. 😔
But those are words 😂😊
@KatieJoMikell Well yes Katie, they are words lol.
It look like this doctor passed away in 2017 based on an article I just read on BIC website. Self induced from horrible protracted withdrawal from Ativan.
@@kevk741 thank you for info. So sad. May she rest in peace 🕊️♾️🕊️⭐️💜
@@kevk741we cannot assume anything. Those who know her preferred to keep the details private.
Omg she died 😢... So sad... I just red about. What was the cause?
Her obituary tells what happened
What if I only take benzo one day or 2 days out of the week?
Can you just stop? Most people that have to wean like this have taken the medication daily for months to years.
Tolerance can still develop.
@@DeniseHurd-qm7id I actually used to take it more then that. I have been on it since like 09

I'm so sad watching this again, I can see that Dr. Huff is still experiencing protracted withdrawal while on panel. She looks anxious and very uncomfortable. 😢😢😢
I cannot get the weighing scale which makes it harder to taper...only chemists have these but not for sale...how can one taper without a scale? It is hard now as my son goes into a rage withdrawal, sometimes not responsive he goes into shut down then having to phone the ambulance/police...and he ends up at ED for hours...can't keep doing this either as what is it doing to his brain? And now our govt are saying that police will not come out to any MH crisis...don't know what to say? sorry...
Amazon has them for sale: MICRO SCALES
Does anyone know how she passed away?
I’m afraid the reason they don’t announce is that she took her own life
@@Dylan-od2mp I think this psychiatrist charges way too much money to help people taper.
Anyone doing water microtaper and can say how they handled it toward the end, smaller amounts?
Why doesn’t anyone talk about coming off Tramadol. Considering they act in the same way of an antidepressant, I never hear these mentioned 😢
Here in a south american country, they use tramadol for pain like it is aspirin.
Oh dear.
It is a very dangerous opioid.
Best wishes.
It’s true I was on tramadol n I went thru hell wen I stopped it dr that perscribed it said it doesn’t cause withdrawals n the specialist dr agreed with me but I also did research. I Also still on klonopin down to 1/4 of .o5 mg. Also on buspar nuerontin lexapro ampitriptiline letrozole an anistoriatat.
Was on more meds n more mgs. I told my new phyc np 3 years ago I want to get off them I was still anxious n depressed n agrsphobia suicidal ect I can’t rem ember much right now I don’t sleep. I’m greatful for finding drs that r open to adverse reaction n withdraws ect.
So, if u take benzos everyday for less than 2 wks, u won't get protracted withdrawals?
not necessarily. it's not predictable. If you cold turkey, then you could have serious w/d. Then, you might try to reinstate, which could send your systems into chaotic hyperarousal. Be very very careful.
I take zanax 4 times a day... How would this work for me?
Hi, Do you still need help? I dose 3 times a day, and I'm tapering
If your medication is water-soluble, doing a water taper is more accurate, less fiddly, and the equipment is very inexpensive.
I’m still heartbroken and trying to make sense of it. You probably got better than I ever will. That said, no one should have to do this 5 mins longer than they feel capable. I have lost 20 friends since March 2021 if I include you. Most had akathisia. Michelle was 9 years off. You mourned with us, so I’m not sure why I’m telling you? Miss you Christy. You were always a Twitter away. Hope you finally found some peace.
23 people. A lot happens in 6 months in our world. Miss you Christy.
I need help to taper from my xanax i am at 0.75.... so 0.25 .. three times a day... I dont understand the math or how to like do the cuts even watching the videos its hard
Therefore, what works for one person may not work for another❣️
@@devinramos6317 thank you I've been beyond panicking my next attempt is a water taper
This newly minted practice of so called "experts" appropriating a knowledge space as their hegemonic territory so as to then ramble on and on with
statements of th e obvious, it's the new normal of the new norm-hole. And it really sucks. I'm quitting tobacco, and have found the pattern very
similar to that encountered in severe benzo addiction whereby the initital phase yields withdrawal reactions so severe as to profoundly re-inforce
the dependency, this by way of creating more trauma. Finally, and only after several months pushing into withdrawal -trauma, am I finding it possibly
to actually push back on the dependency so as to wean off. Even so, today's professional class culture is so stupid, hegemonic, arrogant, childish
and vile that we ought best to be pondering the idea of the mass decertification of the professional class per the criminally insane cohort of textbook
yammering trash that we of the salaried class have always been. Mindless, heartless, incompetent and arrogant, we destroy just aboue everything
and everybody we touch, and this is by design. But we're too stupid and hooked to the smell of our own butt-cracks to so much as acknowledge our
own penchent for buraucratized violence.. So it was for me in teaching, same in big law and medical science not to mention the clergy, all of us in these
so called "helping" and "control " professions respectively are horrible creatures.
Most of it stems from over inflated egos..and doing what mummy and daddy want/ did..not because of empathy or compassion....that's why. Not saying EVERY one is. But it's certainly a culture.
May she RIP. Someone commented that Christy took her own life related to benzo w/d.
Yeah seems she did. Shoot I attempted 4 times and now im near paralyzed. All due to massive SI caused by benzo wd.

No need to do this! I went from 3mg Xanax to none in 3 months Nov 16 I went down 50%. Then after thanksgiving I went to 1 mg. Then 12-15 went to 1/2 mg Xanax. Then I went To my Doctor and got 30 5mg Valium. Jan 1 -24 went to 2.5 mg Valium. Jan 12 went to 1.25 and stopped completely 1-16-24. The withdrawal was no worse than quitting coffee. Still don’t have normal sleep but I was on 30 mg Valium for back spasms for 30 years. Then my Wife died and I was switched to Xanax. My cable went out from 1-16. To 1-19 and the lack of cable was worse than the withdrawal from the Xanax! All these videos just stop people from taking action and control of their life. I still have 50 Xanax and 21 Valium left and even on nights of 2 hours of sleep I have not touched them. I forgot to mention I microdosed shrooms probably 1 time a week for a couple months before starting☮️
Better thank God you didn't have issues.
Unfortunately, you have no idea what you are talking about. I was like you once. I even stopped and started benzodiazepines a half dozen times never realizing each time I stopped, the damage was more significant and lasted longer. Most of my worst symptoms erupted tardive months after stopping. Your comment about him stopping people from taking action is so out of line. He’s preventing benzodiazepine injury and you should know your place. Understand benzodiazepine injury before you come at someone like this.
@@kevk741 your a fucking nut case ! I had to basically force my Doctor to let me wean myself off them. It took over a year.
I went carnivore and got of all 8 medications . Coming from a Family of Physicians I only see them now for acute injuries and would never be treated by our health system . After what I saw them do in the last 5-10 years to my 90 year old Parents and 68 year old Wife that died of Ovarian Cancer. I wad treated for 35 years for a degenerative disc disease and multiple surgeries and disability and it turned out it was 100% the SAD food recommended by our wonderful medical system almost killed me!
This is just your personal experience, doesn't mean there isn't any need for this. One of the first things he says is everyone is different and different things work for different people. Some people can handle more than others, some have worse symptoms. I would be very grateful to have had it relatively easy, according to you.
@ I believe this channels and others like it are not beneficial and are more harmful. I started reading 3 years ago and 18 months ago told my Doctor I wanted to get off them after getting off 7 other medications on my keto than carnivore lifestyle. My Doctor said you only on a few mg’s it’s not that much. Given the 11/19 after my Wife died of Ovarian Cancer 1 year after my Father died at 90. So In summer of 2023 I tell my Doctor I am falling asleep without the Xanax but I am afraid to not take at least 1 mg a night. It still took another year and me meeting several times to be sure he would switch me to Valium for last part of quitting. Now I have to start up with a new Doctor and 90% of all the doctors I knew and my Father knew are all retired and the hospital system is failing☮️
