I have the Spinfisher's in 7500 long cast version. Couldn't be happier, absolute workhorses, look the part as well and don't break the bank. Hat's off to Penn. *Coming from a guy who fished Shimano for 3 decades.
Just went Pier Fishing this Summer and hooked a few sharks, now I'm HOOKED on Shark Fishing! Immediately bought all new, to me, gear when I got home in anticipation of hitting the beach again. Bought 1-Spinfisher 6 8500LL, 2-Fierce 3 8000LL, 1-Fierce 4 6000LL, and 3 new rods. I am not playing around when I go back to Wilmington this time! With the exception of the Fierce 4, all came off of FB Marketplace at half of the price of new. I'm Hooked!!!
WOW , YOU HAVE COME ALONG WAY SINCE YOUR FIRST VID'S ! I STARTED WATCHING YOU FROM YOUR BEGINNING, I HAVENT BEEN ON UA-cam IN A WHILE . GREAT REVIEW OF THE REELS FOR ME ITS SPINFISHER VI WITH THE LIVE LINER . 1.14 SUBS!!!! GOOD JOB I REMEMBER WHEN YOU ONLY HAD 500 .
Thanks for the support! It's been a long journey and a lot of work but I'm loving it! The Spinfisher is a great reel, I use the Fierce more often. Just because I don't do much saltwater... yet
I have a fierce 3 6000 on a 9ft rod and also a fierce 3 8000 on a 10ft rod is both for surf fishing and man I love them both so smooth I just recently got the 8000 about 2-3 months but the 6000 over 2 years and I’ve brought in many sharks with it no complaints from me!
@@BitesandStrikesFishing you definitely should and save some money from buying all these big reels unless you do want to bring in some huge ones but other than these type of reels will get the job done
I wanna fish off the pier at the beach, should i get a 10 ft rod or a 7 ft i'm looking at the penn fierce IV spinning rod, and i was gonna get the 8000 reel. only $139.00 each at bass pro, i was gonna get one for me and one for my lady as well
Oh yes, I'm the same I love my Penn reels I have 6 Penn reels; 2-Pursuits 3&4, Fierce 3LL, Battle 3HS. and two Spinfishers 5 & a 6, all in the 4000 sizes, my Spinfishers are 4500. these are great reels!
Fierce have a big cast gear but you can swap it with the battle cnc as long as the gear ratio matches had a 100 lb yellow fin strip half the gears right off my fierce 8000 and had to replace it
Damn! Stripped off the gears? That’s nuts. I’ve caught some large alligator gar with them with no issues. But I did recently have the gears break on my 3000. Partly my fault, the handle got jammed and I cranked it anyways. I knew I shouldn’t have
Yep...buy once, cry once. Unfortunately I'm a gear head tho...so I just keep adding to my arsenal anyway. I've been into anything not made in China lately but I got a spinfisher on the way. I took a chance on a Fin Nor too. Hearing really good things.
I have a Fierce III Live Liner and while I have caught some great fish on it, I do have some grievances. - When the spool is at its topmost position, it impedes the ability to release the bail. This top position can also cause the reel to engage the bail mid-cast which more often than not results in popping your line. - The live liner on this reel is still quite strong even at its weakest setting. It really requires a fish to take the bait with confidence. This has caused me to lose many fish. - Imagine these 2 scenarios happen at the same time. A cautious Gar takes your line but it's starting to realize something is fishy since your live liner drag is too strong. Then in a last ditch effort to save your fish, you choose to open your bail and freeline. The only issue is you can't for the life of you get the bail open with the spool in the way. You try to rip it off as hard as you can but the steel body is not giving. You've lost 16 runs now. =========================================== I've been experimenting with the Piscifun Carnivore and all of my grievances are remedied. It's a bit cheaper of a reel, but still saltwater rated. One negative is I don't think they make them in an 8000 series so you won't be able to use as much line.
Sounds like you have a defective reel. I own 3 or 4 fierce live liners and Ive never had any of those issues. If your still under warranty I’d suggest sending it for repair.
Fierce has plastic rotor and a forge cast main gear have to go up to the battle to get the machine cut gearing found that out the hard way took it out for yellow and big eye tuna and beat it up pretty bad still working but it's a little looser than it started off
My Spinfisher is a 8,000 size. The live liner jammed once, but after a few big fish it fixed itself. Note, I do not ever clean, oil, or do any maintenance to them. I beat the hell out of them
@@BitesandStrikesFishing I am looking at the 6500 model. But I am now considering the Shimano Spheros 6000 HG. The Shimano does not have a brass main gear but does have a bearing at the end of the brass worm gear. Since you have experience what would you choose?
Im setting up a surf pole i have one already i got from the pawn shop and it has a Shakespeare 8000 spinning rail on berkley surf pole but wanting to do a pen pole and reel just dont know what size reel i should do
Got to realize something , the high end Penn reels do not have opening in the spools so a ride on a boat on saltwater spray will get in easier, Penn needs change that.
I've got a 6500 spinfisher, it is a absolute stud. I've not run into anything it won't bring in. 65 lb snapping turtle wasn't happy about being drug to the bank. Worth the money in my book.
