I’m been thinking of starting this program. But I’m so hisitant that it be hard for me to find externship for my 100 hrs at the end of coursework. Is it easy to find a clinic for externship?
Hello, Sky! Your first Practicum consists of skills focusing primarily on cats & dogs, which can be completed through a companion animal practice, such as a local DVM, animal hospital or clinic, providing there is either a credentialed Vet Tech who is a graduate of an AMVA-CVTEA program of study, or, a Veterinarian licensed to practice in the US who will agree to supervise you through the Practicum. PF has partnered with the NVA, VCA hospitals as well as Blue Pearl, so this could possibly be an option for you should you have a location near you willing to allow you to complete your hours there. There is a lot of support available here to help you as you prepare for your practicum and look for a site. If you have further questions, please feel free to reach out to us at pennfosterinc@gmail.com We will be happy to assist you.
That makes me feel better about that. Just today I took my Dove to his vet, for beak trimming. I wanted to now if my clinic I personally take my beloved animals to take externship and internships. So I asked even through I haven’t started it yet. He told they do told when I get close or get started to call and talk to the office manger about it. Which made feel slightly better just knowing I might be able to it at my local vet clinic. So I be starting ounce I get settled in my new home sense I’m in middle of getting ready to move.

I'm aiming to be a Veterinarian technician/assistant so would Penn Foster be a viable option instead of regular college?
