- I found myself on one of the worst, steep and washed out tracks I have ever been on. I had no way of turning around and going back! It was a case of sending it and holding on for dear life! I was scrapping the belly of the Ranger almost getting stuck multiple times, lifting rear tyres off the ground and sliding dangerously sideways multiple times! This was definitely not fun but I survived unscathed and so did the truck.. After all of the drama I ended up finding some amazing gold and this short trip was a great success! Nice gold Lee, I detected today and got a very deep loud signal over 600 mm. Getting to old couldn’t finish the dig and filled in the hole. I’ll try again next week. Lest we forget.

Nice payday Lee. I know your feeling, took my missus down one of those, she thought she was going to fall through the windscreen, I got the blame, but that was chasing turquoise. Last week we got the rear bar of the truck hooked on a rock ledge crossing a previously flooded creek heading for some detecting, front wheels on a 60 degree up slope and rear wheels off the ground, took a half hour to free it, thank god for the winch. Got to go out there again tomorrow wish me luck. Hope you had a good Anzac day mate . cheers

Thanks Steven, I got lucky with that big one it was such a nice low high target👌. I've had many since that sound the same and have been rust.. I have lean trips as well it's all part of it unfortunately. It would be amazing if we could find multiple grams every trio hey.

It's hard to get in the groove mate, it's all about getting out and swinging for as long as you can, hit and move if your not finding anything within an hour move and move until you do. When you do find something spend more time there and slow down. Pay attention to what the ground looks like and what the gold is coming out of. When you can't find anymore gold there go to a spot that looks similar.

I got into prospecting about 6 months ago, and I've been running around like a headless chook up until now with nothing but a few specks. I started with a GM1000, then got a Vanquish 540 to use on the beaches. If I had done some real research, I would have got a second-hand PI machine instead of the Vanquish but now I'm broke again, live and learn I guess. I like being on the creek with a pan too. Just love it all. I've been disheartened these last few days after coming away with nothing all the time. But I just gotta keep getting out there. I need to find some gold so I can get that PI machine lol...
Keep smashing it mate and I hope I get to your level one day.
G'day Ben I appreciate that mate🍻. I definitely have those days where I find stuff all the negative thoughts creep in very quickly but that next bit if gold is just around the corner and it will come when you least expect it. The gm and the vanquish aren't ideal for wandering the bush looking for gold but have a look at a sdc2300 or the earlier gpx models definitely more suited to finding gold and much more capable. Cheers.
Nice work mate, another cracking trip and a very nice slug to top it off. I feel ya about wrecking a tyre, I did that Saturday, I put a 1 inch hole in the side wall via a tree branch, 400 bucks later I have a new tyre, not happy. Any who, well done. Cheers Pete

No mate, I literally run difficult 95% of the time, in manual anywhere from 1 to 3 o'clock.
What are your settings.
Just difficult ground manual about 3 past centre.
How did you get back up that track?
I didn't mate, there was a much easier way lol.
