Actually over the years smartphone industry is taking big leaps on technology advancements. More we wait, every single quarter we see new features introduced by different companies and by that time old tech feels very backdated.. For the time being Holographic Display is a really awesome feature introduced by Red Hydrogen and we hope it would take some time to intimate this feature by other companies.

Brandon Garcia I agree it is expensive but I will use Verizon wireless. I am more than a year out of the payments on my Edge. If Hydrogen Red One delivers on it's promises. The phone will be impressive.. I missed out on the Razer phone as well, but this one seems better.
add this one to Christmas list.

It's not really holographic it just has a 3d display. It might later come with an attachment to make it look like something from starwars or star trek on the back. But that's unlikely only time will tell. 5g will begin releasing in the us sometime next year and instead of face timing companies expect us to be able to communicate holograpically, basically like VR.

Nintendo 3DS is completely different. Amazon uses accelerometer and gyro sensor to create 3D image whereas holographic display uses diffraction of light. We have to just wait and watch till it would be released commercially..

+Portal's Edge No it's not 3DS Display.. It's Holographic display that utilizes light diffraction to create a virtual three-dimensional image of an object. It's completely different from 3D technology which require external equipment/glasses to create 3D image.
Till now Red has been working on this device and expected to release soon. The display shown in the video is a prototype which was released by Red.
+info experts No, it's completely different from Amazon Fire 3D. Amazon fire 3D used sensors to create that 3D view which you have seen on your friend's phone. Amazon Fire use Accelerometer & Gyroscope sensor. Essentially Amazon Fire needs a 3D image source/supported content to create 3D image whereas Red Hydrogen One uses diffraction of light.

No, it's not a 8K display.. Even camera is said to support upto 4K recording for now but it has modular ad-ons for camera which can support upto 8K as it said to be equivalent to a professional camera. For that we just have to wait for the launch to make sure..

RED Hydrogen One is scheduled to launch this summer but before that renders and specs of this smartphone is already leaked and are stated to be real.

+XiFi A holographic display is a type of display that utilizes light diffraction to create a virtual three-dimensional image of an object. Whereas 3D imaging require the aid of any special glasses or external equipment for a viewer to see the image. So this is a "Holographic" display as it uses light diffraction technology and you do not need any type of glass/equipment to see it's 3D display.

Have you heard of 3D without glasses like the Nintendo 3DS? The thing they are showing in this video looks exactly like that 3D. I guess we have to wait and see.
Ehh. This is going to be one of those things that sounds cool but actually kinda sucks in real life. And won't be very practical in every day use. Just a novelty. Also the design is so ugly. Looks like a prototype. This will die out. It will not be the revolutionary new tech you think it is. Needs a couple more years. Prove me wrong though Red phone. I'm interested in seeing this in person
have you read anything about this phone or made a plethora of assumptions based off of this video, which itself makes a bunch of assumptions, for example the 3d display it shows in the video doesn't even belong to the phone and is a totally different phone entirely. the people that have seen it and used it have said its rather impressive tech. also the creators themselves have a very specific set of uses for this phone, not least of which is as an extension for filmmakers using their red camera ecosystem, so it's a niche phone for a niche market, which is why it has the design and tech it has.

From what I read/heard so far, this is just another lenticular display with possibly a higher density and a few more viewing angles than before(up to 9 was common since many years,decades even).
Don't buy into purposefully misleading marketing buzzwords ! ... and don't perpetuate them either !
Unless something displays interference patterns (looking like noise under a microscope) that are turned into a truly holographic image by being illuminated with a suitable light source we are
NOT CALLING IT HOLOGRAMS!!!
