Since I started using Softube Amp Room Marshall Edition, I have dumped all other amp and cab simulators including my meticulous IR collection. Guitar is so much more joy to play now. Thank you EV for introducing Amp Room. I would probably still not know about it.

Man, that 2203ZW is so dynamic and huge sounding...it's everything I want...sounds thicker and throatier than the plugin. I find that's what most modellers have trouble with, that mid lower end frequency. No doubt the guys at Softube have hit it out of the park capturing 90% of the tone and it's amazing what you get for a few bucks.

The real amp is slightly louder than the plugin. This can be a bit confusing for inexperienced listeners. Great job anyway! I love your videos!

I dialled the levels pretty much the same but the real amp might be a bit louder. Also because the sound is a bit fuller 😎.

Casually listening on DT770 headphones, the plugin has more high mids than the amp, but less extended low end and less 'warmth' than the amp. The plugin basically sounded like an EQ'd version of the amp with the low sub filtered out and the treble/presence frequency areas boosted slightly. Would be interesting to hear the plugin with the bass turned up and treble/presence turned down slightly to see just how close to the amp it could get. Very good job by Softube overall though.

I guess to be able to play Yngwie one needs to have the skills first and foremost and I'm pretty sure no gear in the world could help with that ;-).
But jokes aside; I guess with a Strat, a Plexi and an overdrive you'll get at least a tone similar to YJM.

Thing is... with a real amp, I can turn my tone knob down 1 number, switch pickups, or change volume and it responds and changes sound so much more than a sim. I think tones are pretty good on the sims now, but they still don’t beat playing the real deal. I would like to see what the plug-in sounds like through a real cabinet through a fryette or something....lol. Great videos !

Ah you meant comparison in the mix. Sorry my bad :-)
The song is just the plugin. But it's like in general: it depends on the mix I guess - if / when there's a low cut / hi pass filter on the guitars (to make "room" for bass) or some EQ going on etc. you really can't tell the difference.

Great video and really interesting. The plug-in is very good. With the chugging metal riffs the plug-in holds up pretty well, though it has less depth than the real amp to my ears. Where I noticed a bigger difference was when you switched to the firebird shape guitar and played some bluesy lead. The plug-in has to my ears an annoying kind of fizzy hollow character, kind of sounds a bit artificial. I had to listen hard. Probably if I was playing it myself it would be easier to pick out. Saying that most people maybe wouldn’t notice a difference.

The Softube plug-ins sound really good. Maybe some of the best there are. There useful. But a real tube amp is alive. It breaths and puts out tone in a way that you can feel in your bones. The plug-ins replicate, but aren't the real thing. I look at like pizza. There's real good pizza shop pizza, and then there's frozen. Some of the frozen is pretty good, but it still isn't good pizza shop pizza. The plug-ins make it quick and easy to get a good recording tone for me. I just want to plug in at times and not have to deal with setting up mics and getting it right.

They are really good but the real deal is obviously always a real deal.
But it isn't necessarily always the best; I mean I've played for example with some really horrible sounding rental 800s on some festival shows and would've preferred much more something like this instead.
I guess that's why I haven't played a (rented) tube amp since 2017 but used Friedman BE-OD as my amp and Neunaber Iconoclast as my cab / mic'd speaker emulator directly to the mixing desk and to my in-ears. Sounds and feels fantastic and the sound is the same night after night :-)

Not sure if it’s ever possible 😊. I’ve used amp sims along with real amps on many albums I’ve recorded in the last few years but mainly I use them for songwriting, demoing and just playing.

Sorry, no. Neural DSP kicks Softube's behind EASILY. Try the Fortin Nameless and Omega.

Neural stuff is great. And they’re my fellow countrymen so can’t say anything else 😎. Can’t recall them having any Marshall plugins but the stuff they’re doing is absolutely fantastic. But again; nothing beats the real deal 💪😉.
