Paul was posting on FOG (Festool Owners Group) just a few days ago regarding a dovetail jig question. So I think he is doing just fine and still looks like he is interested in woodwork.
Same here. I've been checking the tube to see if you were posting anything new. Your channel is one of my favorites, and I hope you're doing well and that you'll consider posting some new videos. Cheers
Hey Paul! Hope all is well, sir. Was clickin thru the tubes here and realized we hadn't heard from ya in a minute or 2 and just wanted say hello and hope to see more content from ya soon! Kinda miss getting jealous of your toys! lol
+AM0mentOfScience haha! Well, I took a break then got into circus arts and have been busy with that. However, I started a cabinet recently that will have some videos to show how to make sliding dovetails with the BCTW kit (so, toys!) plus I need to post a video of the chopstick maker pro. Anyway, slowly making my way back to the shop and videos. Thanks for the kind words :)
+Half-Inch Shy Paul, I love your videos and you are by far my favorite youtuber. Thanks to you, I now have a number of Festool tools and I've learned quite a bit from you. I was just about to post on Sawmill Creek asking if anyone knew what happened to you because its been so long since we've heard from you.
+HOSSMCGILLICUTTI Ha! Thanks for the compliment :) I do plan on restarting recording in January. I needed a break for different reasons. So someday a new video will pop up in your feed.
Enjoyed learning about these tools, I think I'd go for the gun stock vice first as it seems like it would be possible to modify it to deal with a lot of different shapes, the price is right too..
Sitting here and waiting and waiting . Where are the final episodes of Angle Madness ?? Very good video series! I have learned a lot from you . / Filiph , carpenters from Sweden
Thanks, Filiph... I think I inadvertently took a hiatus from the shop; next episode planning and a lot of extra planning for an inlay series happened, but didn't get done yet. I hope to get back in the shop after the New Year to do those videos. Currently all I'm making in there are things needed to finish the remodeling I started on some rooms so long ago! Thanks, too, for your compliments :)
which one would you rather have? the pattern makers vice looks like it might be able to replace the normal woodworking end vice but also have the benefits of the curved clamping
haha! I'm always impressed at how woodworkers watch the background (I do, too). That's a Bridge City CT-18 with the side depth skids attached. I love using that for planing thin stock to a consistent size. At the time of that video, I was doing a private workshop with Paul Schurch that included a bent laminate front table; I used the plane to get the laminates perfect.
Have no idea. A quick google of WoodRiver sold in UK shows up next to nothing except their hand planes at this site: woodworkersworkshop.co.uk/Planes/WoodRiver Maybe contact them and see if they could carry either/both vises. As they buy bulk of the planes, maybe adding a couple of these to the shipment would be easy enough and save on you paying what would be three first-childs to ship the big heavy box it comes in from the US.
Hi Paul, will you have any new reviews on Festool tools coming too in May ?? I could watch other reviews but you have a great personality and keep it interesting
+ronan o connell Thanks for the compliments, Ronan! I'll have to give the new releases a closer look to see which might tempt me. The cordless tracksaw definitely since I do edge jointing with the tracksaw often out on the driveway with 8-10' boards. The Vecturo is really intriguing (not new, but new for me) because I have a failed house remodeling project to correct with it... I shouldn't have trusted the guy at the store about which glue to use on cork in the stairs :/
Hey Paul, thanks for replying. Nothing worse than someone pretending to know what they are talking about!! When ever anything goes wrong for me,I say to myself, at least I'll learn from this because I might have never come across the problem before, well that is my way of thinking it wasn't a total waste of money :D :D. I'm after buying and PDC 18/4 and CTL SYS for the job site, so cant wait for them to arrive. Your demonstration of how the t15 Impact works was brilliant so I think ill get it for them times when your in a bit of a jam. I'll look forward to seeing your next upload. Ronan.
That's a cool bunch of kit! Is it safe to say that your vice is buying vises? I thought that I was pretty familiar with Woodcraft's catalog, but somehow those escaped my attention. I can see where either one would be essential for non-square projects.
realmezz So the story goes that I ran off and joined the circus, which isn't too far from reality... I got interested in circus arts and got all absorbed in that along with some personal things so it became a woodworking break of sorts. I'm catching up tonight on comments and spent the day cleaning the shop that got walloped while doing a house-purge late last year. Should be recording new episodes mid-May. Thanks for asking! :)
+jp morso Thanks for the check-in. Yes, things are fine. I was busy with work, needed a break from video, then discovered a circus school in town. No, not kidding :) I am in the shop now trying to catch up on unfinished home projects and will get back to videos after that. I mean, two years to complete a bathroom is crazy, but I was putting it off because there was always another video to do :) It'll happen soon enough.
If I start a rumor on UA-cam and the FOG that you faked your death and ran away with the circus (not far from the truth) will you then be pressured to come back? Maybe do a "No I'm not dead video?" I mean we're talking 15 mins of your time here! Haha!
The best channel to ever hibernate.
It would be great if this channel came back to life! Hope all is well.

You are LIGHT YEARS ahead of my skill set but I really enjoy your videos, and I too, wish you'd come back ...Thanks...rr Normandy, Fra

so so so happy to know you are alive.Just remember that the 13,842 that are still subscribed to your channel do care about you. I am sure of that.
Great review. We're new youtubers and are just getting into woodworking now. Looking forward to more videos from you. Thanks!
Slowvannah Farms Thanks!
Thanks for your clear and detailed video. This helped me make a better informed decision on a vise for my shop.

I really enjoy watching all your videos. You are one of the most skilled woodworkers on the web. Are you ever coming back??
Awesome work and videos. Please come back and get some shirts I will rock the Half inch shy gear.
Amazes me that you do your vids in a single take. Great work with fine detail. The shirt gave me a rush though. ;P
Please come back

Half-Inch Shy You did say January 2017 right?
Half-Inch Shy what’s the plan - we miss you.😍
Thanks for sharing. Really like your Videos. Graet quality. All the best. Mike
Mike Bandte Thanks, Mike!
Where did you go? You are missed! Please come back

Yeah, I agree that if you had to buy one, that would likely be the best price/performance. No contest against a traditional quick-release vise.

What is that very cool looking plane that we can see when you switched to the gunstock vice (6:47)?

The Pattern Makers' vise is very impressive.
Hi Paul
Another great video. Do you know if these vices are available in the UK ?
Thanks Geoff

Great demo Paul, your shop must be very clean if you are walking there in bare foot:).!
Tamás Elkán As hot as it is in summer, it makes a big difference to go barefoot, really. Though I didn't plan on recording that :)

Hey Paul, you ok? Haven't seen much of an update lately or for a long time for that matter! Hope everything is well!

Thanks, great reviews. Does the gunstock vise fit in the festool MFT/3 benchdog holes?
+seattlevkk Yes it does. I have it on my auxiliary bench that has a top bored like an MFT (20mm holes, 96mm on-center).
+Half-Inch Shy Thanks!
...Please come back...really miss your videos...
I said that 5years ago and I still say it...We miss you 😢
Paul is just itching to upload a new video
Were are you. pease come back

What happened to you, I miss your videos!!!
Terrific review!~ Thanks!
I have 8 1/4inches from the end of my 3 1/2inch thick bench to the leg of the bench, would this be enough room to mount the Emmert vise?
Where r u bro? No more video?
Come back to youtube!!!
Hi Paul
Where are you dude 😊
This is not so much a review of the woodcraft version as of a generic patternmaker's vice. I was hoping for more comparative data.
