I would like to see several tons of it collected and composted and then analyzed. If the heavy metal content is too high it can still be used for municipal landscape fertilizer. There are hundreds of tons of biomass there that could be converted to methane if nothing else.

I was just going to ask the same thing. What happens to it does it just re-grow which I’m sure it does. It would be cool if they had something that would also pick up the cuttings and maybe it could be used for animal feed cows horses goats etc.

From the comments below I think most are coming from Sea Doo Boys. They can't see the engineering that has gone into this. Very Strong and fast. That would be a big job and can be done with the right equipment.. I am thinking this is tailorable. Good job and thanks for sharing.

After all the cutting is done, you really need to remove them from the water cause it's gonna worsen condition of the water. The water plant can be made a good natural fertilizer. They also can be used in waste water treatment, just putting them in several confined areas on the the water.

I agree with the comment below, the shredder will spread the lilly seeds faster and clog up the river more densely, did you guys think of that when this machine was engineered ?

Seems they would benefit more with using a harvester, does the same work but with much less power and the cuttings can be dried and processed to remove the toxins they clean out of the water.

Most aquatic plants when cut just propagate new roots from the cut pieces . That will just spread it around easier . It would be alright to clear a path but not for getting rid of such plants .

The two "ear-muff" ear protectors shown early on aren't being worn, a nice idea, but wouldn't the decomposing vegetation tend to use up all the oxygen in the water?

Right now in many parts of Africa. boat-loads of passengers are trapped mid-lagoon by huge expanses of floating weeds. A self-propelled weed shredding machine like this could be used to cut a free path for such trapped river traffic to reach nearest landfall, potentially saving many lives per year.

This is the proven method for dealing with these plants. Someone said good fertilizer, yes you know something about these. Most of you have no idea. Read about water hyacinth. They brake these up so they can flow. Picking them out and grinding them they can be a wonderful fertilizer. What they have found out these plants will clean heaven metals out of the water and if ground up and put on a field it will put the heaven metals on the field. These are amazing plants they can be used as water treatment with raw sewage. Nice to see so,e intelligent comments. The rest of ya should read a but on a topic before ya make a comment. It only takes a few mins. In the 70’s a University set up a raw sewage treatment plant with these. These plant will even clean the drugs that pass through the human body and passed via the urinary track. These plants will take the drug out and hold it. Truly an amazing plant

BTW There are machines that cut it and drag it on boards that go through that a lot faster than chopping it.
