- This video is for anyone who's lost interest in gaming (or any hobby) and can't find the joy in it anymore. If you've been finding things boring and unengaging lately, try these two things I did to find your way back.
I tried something a little different in this video, so I hope you like it.

I didn't expect you to be a 116 subs channel and that this video had only 300 views lol. I legit thought I had clicked on a 300K+ views video due to the quality. You're going to be big, I know it, good luck and thanks for the video!
wow thank you the generous comment. gonna work hard to try and keep making quality videos 💪
Yeah same lol, really good content here
Agree
Wow congrats on the video with 300k views you’ve really grown
Yeah man u really deserved it. Congrats 👑
Just watched two of your videos back to back, and it was like I was having a conversation with myself from a parallel dimension. Really enjoy your work, man.
Had the exact same thought!
Same! He's saying what a lot of us are thinking. When we were kids we couldn't wait to grow up, now we're adults and we just want to be kids again
Ooooh. Thank you for the advice. As someone who is currently recovering from a burnout and reading slump, and trying to get back into reading again, and dealing with the frustration of me not finding the joy in reading again as I had when I was a child or back before Covid, I needed to hear this. Thank you. ❤
"When my dad dusted of his Old Nintendo and played Starfox and Ocarina of Time.." Instantly felt old... lol
this channel is going places for sure
The thing for me is that I know how games work. They kind of all share the same basic structure; there’s nothing left to learn or figure out. For me, the enjoyment is the discovery and learning.
6:00 taking a walk, drawing a picture or any hobby may seem like a waste of time, but at the end of the day if you're having fun doing it then it's not a waste of time. just don't confuse addiction with a hobby
The most meaningful part in this take for me is appreciation of games as a hobby. Yes. I'm constantly conflicted between the guilt of feeling like I'm wasting my time and the joy of spending time with my friends, relaxing, creating those adventures and stories together. Those experiences are meaningful. Not a waste of time!
Also. Never thought about it but yes. Singing and making game music has deepened my relationship with games and given me more varied experiences with gaming, rooted me more firmly into the gaming community and I'm so grateful for that!
The amount of production quality and the content that was shared made me think that this was a page with more than 100k Followers. You are definitely gonna blow up. Keep up the good work
as a 27 years old dude with a full time job, i need this video, thank you for a golden lesson at life ❤
I know this isn't a new take on how to enjoy games again, but the way you explain it combined with the footage really made me want to try again. Really enjoyed the video, please keep it up.
The recontextualize part is so real. It's been some months since I started to play everything as if I was going pro (even solo games) and I am having a blast.
I commented on another video of yours that strongly resonated with me but I did not make that clear so i'll do it now. In both videos you've expressed exactly how I've felt for the past two or three years. It's not until this year that I got back at it by challenging myself to complete all challenges in NFS Unbound. I do have ADHD tho (profesionally diagnosed) so while listening to your videos I keept saying to myself woah, this guy gets it. And yeah, being 32 is not the same as 23 responsibilities wise but it's nice to see other people share the same experiences. Sorry if I'm rumbling and I do hope you read this. Your videos game me a sort of peace and I hope I can get to see more of your content in the future. Keep it real. Love 🤙🏻
really good video and great advice! another piece I would put is “get busy.” I’ve always found gaming is much better when I have lots of other experiences in life to compare it against. if you have a whole day with nothing but gaming though, you’ll get burnt out pretty quick
A wholesome video indeed. I'm a full-time game dev so find it really hard to wind down and play games after work, even though I really want to. I found UA-cam was a good break from it, though. So welcome to the platform! cant wait to see you blow up...I'm sure you will
Is a 276x gain in views blowing up cause I think he hit the algorithm finally on the latest video. 😅
I know other people have commented the same thing but I just wanna chime in and praise the quality of this video. The backing music, the way you speak, the visuals, themes, it's all really well done. wishing you the best
Ohh my god, did I need to watch this!
You have no idea how much of comfort and relief I got from watching this. This is because, I lost my enjoyment for pretty much everything thing lately. And I’ve been implementing the “taking break” idea, but with no success. The reason for this I think is I only took around two month( and testing the water every now and then) after that I thought I’m a helpless case and it’s over.
But, seeing you going two years😂 kind of gave hope. Now, I’m no longer beating myself up and being harsh to myself. I will just sit, wait and hope for the best.
Thanks for sharing the video, and I believe it goes without saying the quality is absolutely amazing!😍
The thing about taking a break is that you never know when it's enough, especially when things don't have a meaning to you anymore and you could be enjoying some game then suddenly close and delete it for no reason, just because you are always reminded that in the end nothing really has a meaning and there is no actual fun or pleasure come from playing these games, only the feeling of being detached from reality, which is already sucks
This is what im going through
I so relate to this, and your other similar video.
I have an almost constant fear of missing out when I’m playing a game (or reading a book, or watching a series).
I’m very aware of the excessive options and limited time.
Like most people, I work full time and so it feels impossible to balance all of my hobbies.
When playing a game, I’m nearly always just trying to get through it because I have hundreds more waiting.
And sometimes I give in to that dopamine rush of adding even more to my library (not steam, as I am a console gamer).
I want to take the message from this video and just focus on doing one thing at a time, without the goal being to reach the end.
Games have been the main way for me to continue having shared experiences with my friends because i moved abroad. In fact, the friends that i play video games with are the only friends I regularly interact with.
I always love the “later” at the end 🔥
Hello, just wanted to say I'm going through it in life, and your videos make me wanna cry, in a good way. I find your words conforting. Thank you ❤
Great video! Working my way through all the videos on your channel. You are hitting on a lot of topics that I think about a lot and adding your unique take/perspective, which is really helping me out.
Absolutely excellent video. To echo others, the quality is top notch. Also, you hit the nail right on the head when it comes to the often disregarded need for a break. I haven’t truly been able to enjoy games for years now as I’ve been letting my best memories with them stand in the way of me taking a lengthier break all while my life becomes increasingly hectic. Can’t wait to see how your channel grows. Much love.
I thought the same. I have played games since pong but when I bought playstation 4 and picked out all highly praised games I just couldn't finish them. I've just grew out it I thought. Then I tried older games I didn't get to play in the ps2 and ps3 era and I was back. Newer games are not made to just be fun anymore but without any risks just take out our time and money. Great video.
I dont wanna stop playing games to enjoy playing games again, this is so hard :'[ but sadly, you got a point... but games are probably the only enjoyable thing in my life tbh and I dont wanna loose that and/or find something different to do cause I dont really find anything else much enjoyable either... if Im not playing I just wanna sleep and get this over with, but what is such life
Contextualization is such a powerful way of keeping a hobby alive. When you approach each task with a new lens it will pretty much never get old. It also opens a lot of doors that previously you would keep closed shut.
For example, I also grew up with games. They've been my #1 hobby and that passion moved me to start modding games which moved me to start developing them. Both of those tasks required me to learn some amount of programming which kinda pushed me into general software development. Game Development also asks you to do a lot of what's essentially theory crafting. World building is a skill that gets stronger the more you read up about the world. Etymologies, Land Forms, why plates shift, how civilizations made their gods, how spirituality fits into the human experience, how culture evolves and changes and the list goes on forever.
All that's just the "mental" skills you end up driving yourself to learn. I have big man hands and controllers always give me discomfort after like 6 hours (I can go for way longer that that easy). I have that same issue with keyboards where I feel cramped typing on a normal board. Both issues drove me to learn product design, ergonomics, circuitry and getting into diy keyboard building. The split 50% ortholinear keyboard build is done but now I need to do that controller. I want to use Walnut alongside some internal aluminum bracing, leather grips, and injection molded buttons. That's woodworking, metalworking, leather working, and manufacturing all for my gamer bullshit!
Contextualization is SO powerful.
Welcome back king 🎉🎉🎉
Yooo major respect to you and all game devs. Thanks for sharing, man. What a monumental task build and use all those skills, not to mention put your creation out there for others to enjoy/critique. 🐐 Built diff for sure. I appreciate the welcome back 👊
I'm enjoying your very chilled pace and thoughtful videos, very well made. Subbed!
Great video man. Some of your thoughts really echo my own experiences with video games. It is nice to see I am not the only one who lost passion for gaming. Keep up the high quality vids like these and you'll take off for sure.
Man i love this channel ... such chill vibes
Really nicely structured video! I was fully engaged the whole time and overall really enjoyed watching this. You deserve recognition and I can definitely see myself watching more of your stuff in the future. Great job!
Thank you for making me feel i'm not alone. Seing the good in the change is the way to go. Take care.
Great video dude! Guess the YT algorithm knows exactly what i was feeling
Just stumbled upon your channel, man. I'm really enjoying the content and high quality. I really like the notion of sharing personal ideas and experiences with people who may be in similar situations with a soothing voice and lofi music in the background. You're going places bro:)
my way of getting back in to gaming was getting in to vr but also just scheduling a specific game night with friends so i can be social but lazy at home from time to time. vrchat has been the best thing for me because ive met so many strangers that have become some of my favorite people to talk with and that just overall reminds me of 90s chat rooms but virtual. i cant get enough of that, but with that said, thats why i got back in to gaming is because of those two things after years of trying to play a game but getting bored in the first 5 minutes.
Thank you for putting into words what I was feeling
the recontextualization really did fot me, thank you mate
I've been feeling the exact same way, that's one of the reasons I finally started my own channel!
This video deserves to be seen by more people, & I hope this little comment helps :)
Good luck with your UA-cam journey!
i still have the same problem and i still dont know what to do with it, its soo hard question that i give myself on what to do with it, that i just sit in front of my monitor and think... and think yet again to get no answers at all.
like i dont have anythink else to do then playing games, and my hobby was always "Gaming' if you can say it like that, idk.
I took a break from streaming for the same reason. It wasn’t fun anymore; I was so focused on viewers that I was giving up my unfiltered fun conversations over Discord. I’ll be ready to go back soon once my intentions are just to have fun again.
Music choices are exquisite
I think for me, it's a combination of a few things, personal life being ass, the games industry being ass, and me just having a very strict list of game genres I enjoy. I've VERY recently started uploading UA-cam videos again, starting a whole new channel and starting from scratch and it's way to early to say anything but I'm hoping this, gives me that spark back in gaming I've been missing the last couple of years.
So far I've seen just a couple of videos from you, but I like a lot the themes you touched. If anything, its testimony to the different ways we approach and experience videogaming. This types of essays remind me of some articles I read on A Profound Waste of Time magazine (lol). Highly recommended. They touch similar subjects.
Watched your most recent video since it popped up on my recommended. Ended up going back and watching every video you have posted haha. You're extremely inspiring and I am really excited to see what you have coming next. You've inspired me, and I know you will do the same for others. Keep at it 😊
i appreciate the very kind words :)
Enough of this social media bs/brainrot, i need this type of sh in my life. Amazin content, keep it up
Great video! ive been struggling for a while with burnout and it was something i needed to here
thank you! I feel like burn out comes for everyone at some point. hope you get back to enjoying games quicker than I did 😅
That was good kid, seriously. You are talented. Thank you for your time.
I was JUST. Telling my girlfriend “I can’t relax I don’t know why I just think about work all the time and everything I need to do but I want to relax and enjoy this game” experiencing some bad anxiety then I find this video. Uncanny.
really enjoyed, thankyou
Beautifully said Mate
I needed this, thanks
this is really truly beautiful
Your voice is soothing. Man I wish the best for you.
Insane content! Keep it up, you have serious potential!
im glad youtube randomly recommended you to me, another sub for you

WOOOOOO! 😃
Great video. Very relatable
thanks for this.
i needed to hear that thank you
This video is a true hidden gem
youre going to get big bro I can feel it
i found this channel from a comment on the Hyper Yaps. This looks great!
Bro! I bought rdr 2 on steam in 2019, havent played it more than 1 hour. I thought its the pc, so i bought it for ps5 last year, still 5 hours! The last game I finished was last of us ps4 in 2018. I want to play games but i personally believe that its the fomo, global uncertanity that is causing me to delay myself to point in future when everything will be stable and i know its just a myth. ♥️
Wow, this video relaly changed something inside if me. I will reflect about my life a lot niw
Hope it help me enjoy singleplayer games again, thanks for the video, i apreciate this :)
I hope it helps you too. so many good single player games out/coming out that need to be played!
Used to think that gaming was a waste of time because that's what everyone said and I definitely felt that burnout stage years ago now.... Now here I am in 2024 buying a Japanese PS2 to not only enjoying playing games again but to try and reignite the new hobby I picked up Japanese (which I also burnout on lol) so heres to hoping it'll reignite both passions in my life again.
How are you now ? Did it re-ignite both passions ?
something that has helped me, is try to commentate over it in my head, as if I were speaking to chat or an audience
You have such a good voice for this by the way.
Love the video, keep it up!
thank you!! 🙏
Loved this video
Exactly what im feeling… subbed, im the 100th subscriber if im not wrong hehe
great timing, haha. thanks for helping me reach this milestone 🙌
Great video brother
youtube is good these days with recommendations
I like this video. though I never felt this as described
Awesome watch, I think you hit the nail on the head with the reasonings and where its rooted from. I have wanted to make a channel that makes similar content for a while but keep putting it off, what gave you the push to do it?
Thanks! I’ve been in that same position. Honestly, I can’t pinpoint one thing that gave me the push. It was just a mix of different things lining up, like having more time, decent equipment, a few topics to talk about in a format that was trending, and the right headspace for putting myself out there. If the fear of not being good is holding you back, I say just go for it! You got nothin to lose.
Great job! ❤
Stay healthy bro
Ohh really love that video and feeling the same thing in the moment ❤
hope you find your way back to loving games 🙏
You helped me bro.
perfectly said
Great video 👍
good video good stuff
Im also at this stage but i replaced it with watching video games related contents instead 😂
Can anyone tell me what soundtracks are used in this video?
Your voice is amazing ❤
I beg you, tell us the music used in this video. I need the exact same while i reflect about all of this
Did you effectively cure your gaming burn out or is it an ongoing process?
Found your vid by accident, and same as the other guy, I thought I was watching hundreds k subs channel.
I've also watched 'how you play games is how you do everything' and I have the same feeling. My wife heard the part about picking up things and not finishing them and told me that might be ADHD symptom, which I'm suspecting for a while now. Lately I'm very unorganized and I'm losing my thoughts during a conversation.
Or might be just a personality trait. 🤷
Ahh...
... Yes, context engineering instead of content engineering.
It seems awsome!!!
fuck yeah, man
4:30 i recognize this music but cant remember from where...
where tha music from

overstimulating your brain is very common nowadays with the rise of shorter videos, and it sucks because it makes everything else seem dull in comparison.
that's why they say variety is the spice of life - a pinch adds some flavor, but have too much of it, and you won't even taste the original dish.
very poggers video my dude
AI cant recreate this 🙏🏿
:)
