Iridium Server - Gateway between KNX and other Smart devices

we used I3 Lite in order to control KNX, Philips Hue Lights, Fibaro, Sonos and Axis Cameras. We create also a routine in order to control Philips Hue Light and Fibaro Smart Plug using a KNX Switch. The problem with this method was that all the routines run inside the i3 Lite App so when the app is closed the routines don't work. The solution for that is using i3 Lite Server. With Iridium Server all the routines and schedules will work 24/7 and you will be able to access all your devices remotely through cloud.
Depending on your installation you can buy from Iridium Mobile Iridium Server RPi, Iridium Server UMC, Iridium Server NUC or you can install Iridium Server on Raspberry Pi 3, Windows 7,8,10 and Linux x86, x64.
In this episode you will learn how to install Iridium Server on a Raspberry Pi 3.
Iridium Server on Raspberry Pi can support up to 15 Panels and up to 800 Iridium Server Tags.
For this project you will need :
1) 1 Raspberry Pi 3

4) Raspberry Pi Case

Installation of Raspbian and Iridium Server
1) Format the SD Card using SD Card Formatter Tool

2) Download Raspbian Jessie Lite OS

3) Write the image of the Raspbian Jessie Lite OS in the SD Card using Etcher Tool.

4) Remove the card and re-insert it in the card reader
5) In the root folder of the SD Card create an empty txt file with name ssh.txt in order to enable SSH without using a monitor.
6) Remove the SD Card from the card reader and insert it in Raspberry Pi's card slot.
7) Connect Raspberry to your Local Lan using an ethernet cable.
8) Connect the Power Supply .
9) Find Raspberry 's IP address using Advanced Port Scanner.

10) Connect to Raspberry through SSH using Putty tool.

11) Login with User Name : pi and Password : raspberry
12) Download the latest version of Iridium Server Lite using the following command.
wget -O /home/pi/iridiumserver.deb www.iridiummobi...
13) Install Iridium Server Light using the following command :
sudo dpkg -i iridiumserver.deb
14) Change the default password using the following command :
sudo passwd pi
15) Change the IP address from DHCP to static using the following :
sudo nano /etc/dhcpcd.conf
interface eth0
static ip_address=192.168.2.99/24
static routers=192.168.2.1
static domain_name_servers=8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4
Press ctrl+x
Press Y
Press Enter
sudo reboot
16) Check if Iridium Server is running using these commands :
cd ..
cd ..
cd iridiumserver
sudo ./iridium

Very detailed and step by step video. In my case I had a Raspberry Pi 3B+ which is not yet officially compatible by Iridium mobile (Raspberyy Pi 3 model B is officially compatible). I utilised the latest Raspbian Buster version and it booted fine. Currently it is under trial to see if there are any bugs.
That's nice! Please share the testing results. I will ask Iridium when they will support Raspberry Pi 3B+ and i will let you know.

Is it possible to use Raspberry Pi 4 instead of Raspberry Pi 3?
Unfortunately no. Officially only Raspberry 3 is supported.
hi, im hoping you can help, so im having an issue, i have sent the project to the cloud, and i have my iridium server running on my laptop
i can download the project onto the pannel (as if it was a client) however there is no interaction with modbus or anything, i have took the ipad off my wifi and onto another network, as if it was a client remotly conneting to the project
obviously its a test licence for 60 days,
how do i get it to connect to the modbus i have no feedback on from the pannel to test everything is working correctly

Yes there are a lot of devices that are supported.
No iridium server on Search i have an iridium server but it does not show up on search
What version of Raspberry Pi did you use and what of Raspbian OS? If you scan your network are you able to see Iridium Server?
@@PoseidwnTech i purchased the server from Iridium website. Iridium RPI i can access the server through IP address but on i3 lite i cannot see the server
should i buy a iridium licence to use this server??
Yes this server requires Iridium license. If you want to test it you can enable 60 days trial from Iridium Mobile Web Site.
do you have a guidance to disable it sir for testing purpose only but then later on will buy a license.

I believe that you have to visit Iridium Mobile web site and login with your account. Then go to "My Account" and "MY SERVERS". There you will find your Iridium Server and you have just to enable "Test Mode" where Y=yes and N=No. I have used this option for Iridium Pro but not for I3 Lite so it's better to ask Iridium Mobile Support for more details.
