I don’t think the voices are bad, but I miss the gravitas of Steve Blum’s Sun Jian in 4 and 5, as well as Kirk Thorton’s Xiahou Dun. Liu Bei is growing on me though.
if I did not notice incorrectly, after cao cao cutscene battle around 50 minute mark, it shows that you get around 3 skill points each per X amount of enemies i think? it does depend on something i think, since you had around 24 at 53 minute mark.
Dynasty Warriors 7 still has by far the best voice acting imo. This looked so high budget for a DW, I was hoping it would compare, but it doesn't. Everyone sounds bored as hell.
Yeah, I've been incredibly disappointed with the English VA. Guess it'll be another game I play using the Japanese voices if I end up buying it at all.
This set up reminds me of those minor missions you get in DW7 Conquest Mode and DW8 Ambition Mode, with those mini quests and enemies within the mission. It's a really nice touch to the grindy portion of DW! P.S. A man without a meat bun is never a whole man.
The English dialogue has me so conflicted. Compared to older titles, conversations feel so much more organic this time around which gets me super invested. It's a shame the voice acting delivery is making me cringe, though.
The open world makes me very hopeful for a possible empires mode, hopefully they continue making empires games considering we still havent received SW5:E
Regarding Cao Cao and the crimes stuff, I feel there has been a push in recent Koei games to change the image of Cao Cao. In the past he was portrayed as a evil villain, similar to Oda Nobunaga in the Samurai Warriors series. They are trying to make him more nuanced, but simply seem to have made him way too benevolent, almost to the level of Liu Being with a bit more harshness.
Wasn't Huangfu Song in charge of the eastern government forces in the Qing and Xu provinces? Lu Zhi in the north, Zhu Jun in the south/center and Huangfu Song in the east
@SeriousTrivia just checked your old let's talk lore and we're both right. Huangfu Song went first south with Zhu Jun then east to Dong before assuming command of the northern theater
Wow! Two hour and a half videos back to back. Either you really like this game and recorded them back to back or just had to wait for an embargo/permission to release them. Either way, I always enjoy your insight into the religion of this time or the historical/book context. And your Balatro series is great as well; I wish I could have watched it when it was coming out! A random aside, but just saying.
This kind of refers to something you mentioned in your previous video about Liu Yan but I get the feeling that the characters in the novel travel quite a bit. If I understood correctly Liu Yan moved from You province to Yi province over time? Given the fact that (ancient) China is a somewhat huge country thats quite a distance, isnt it? Even tho they probably did it over the course of months I feel like those travels must've been somewhat of a risk because of bandits, condition of the roads, weather and so forth.
And as for the side missions not giving as much xp/ability points, maybe it’s due to the level you’re at as well as the number of kills? Like, if you get to level 10 or whatever, the ‘eliminate bandits’ shouldn’t keep giving 6 points.
@ Ah! I was thinking of the typical RPG thing of you go back to lower level areas and don’t get as much as you did due to being much more powerful’. I was mistaken then for this game. 😅
I'll be honest I still like dynasty warriors 8 extreme legends where we had the choice to save the hero's even tho we know in the real world they died😢
Sorry for offended anyone, I think Serius Trivia is kind of player that play rpg but doing all the side quest and overlevel before continuing main quest. Learn this hard lesson from Pokémon

For sure, when I hear that Sun Jian and Xiahou Dun voice ingame, it fit them and the game style so well.
Strangely Liu Bei's voice reminds me of the british soldiers voice in Age of Empires 3
Ahh yes, Xiahou Yuan. My genetic ancestor, clearly. I mean we both have these big bodies but our voices aren't all that deep.
ST doing the Total War strat of running them down after the battle

Yes I will notice that it is 3 points per 100 kills and there are some other bonuses for like capturing bases
it keep giving me a chuckle when the main character said his name: my name wanderer 😆 🤣 😂

Maybe in mandarin is better? Like DW9
@ You're absolutely correct. I'm not sure why I typed Japanese!
@@DepthsOfOcanthus aye! When you get the game confirm with me bro, think i will only be able to play at easter

Every 100kills you got the points pops up in the middle of screen

Huangfu Song was with Zhu Jun until reassigned north to replace Dong Zhuo

He was never in the You province historically. He moved to the Yi Province from Luoyang which was still a long journey
19:22 That's a weird shot, looks like mid 20th century buildings in a rundown part of town.
God damn it.. Now i reeeeally want to play this xD Loving the commentary as always!
ST can’t help but take a skirmish the smaller maps are good keeps the over world fresh can’t wait to play
wow so fast i just finished watching full ep 01
Same! I got finished leaving a comment on the last video after it ended and the got a notification for this one.

It is mostly based on kill count. 3 points per 100 kills

I'm enjoying this so far
I'll be honest I still like dynasty warriors 8 extreme legends where we had the choice to save the hero's even tho we know in the real world they died😢
59:31 dw7 wei music ok!
Its playing at the 50 minute mark when Cao Cao first appears, I got chills

@SeriousTrivia i see someone is addicted to play this new game
Wtf? I just finished watching the 1st ep a few seconds ago. that was fast upload
how did you get the early acress?
I enjoy laughing with you at some of the characters' hypocrisy that knowing the history reveals
Sorry for offended anyone, I think Serius Trivia is kind of player that play rpg but doing all the side quest and overlevel before continuing main quest. Learn this hard lesson from Pokémon
but I do enjoy grinding and feel powerful against the supposedly hard boss 😎
NOOO not Zhang Fei...plz tell me his model isn't fleshed out he doesn't even look like bro
I guess they are younger, so their voice is not as deep.
Still cringe at English dub, compared to Chinese one, especially when they introduced themselves to a person they first met, no courtesey name at all.
VOICE ACTOR IN THIS GAME IS JOKE, ZHANG FEI DIALOG IS CRINGE 😢😢😢
First time playing dynasty warriors?
