Old dong : "mah woman, mah treasure, mah paradise"
This dong : "sometimes, i am a philosopher myself...."
They really gave dong massive character development
He might still be the original in some ways, but the nuanced take does give some of the villains of this depth that feels like you can understand why they do those acts. You could see that even these men who might be considered evil having very clear points about how people are. The head of the yellow turbans is right in saying the Han dynasty needs to change, but his cause becomes an excuse for men to cause further suffering for the people. Dong Zhou can see the necessity of eradicating the yellow turbans to preserve the Han, even if his actions prove him to be a tyrant in the making. Your character is a guardian of peace, but you learn and gain strength and understanding from others to help decide how you’re going to bring about peace in this tumultuous period… where so easily men considered virtuous can fall to villainy and those considered as duplicitous curs can hold hidden virtues.
The new, more nuanced takes on characters such as Dong Zhuo and even a little bit more of a savvy Liu Bei, along with the new, more (but not entirely) historically accurate battles gives us fans something to be more excited about in terms of the storytelling and is a really good thing Koei's done.
Credit is due there, and I like the fact that it gives you much more of an opportunity to go more in depth with the ROTK lore and history. Excited for the next episode.
It will be a lot to ask of them but I would love to see them push the envelope more away from their previous portrayals of characters and have them become plot devices like Dong Zhuo is here with how his honesty challenges the intentions of the heroes we all know and love (indirectly here and more directly later on). He's become the kind of villain we all can understand much more.
Dong Zhuo is still fat but he's more realistically fat, at least for his position and the era. I always said the guy should have looked more like a Viking warrior and less like a modern fat guy who can barely walk. Also keep in mind Dong Zhuo was a tyrant but not a fool. He still had to be competent to get to where he was.
It's too bad he became a scapegoat for all the other warlords of his time. If not, I think he would be a much more compelling historical character. It doesn’t help that every Confucian scholar after that era kept criticizing him for breaking so-called Confucian values
Since it was depicted that it took days to melt off all of his fat when they incarcerated his corpse, the previous iterations probably didn't even match the standard lol.
@minhnguyenquang7220 he is somewhat fit during his campaigning days. He possibly got alot fatter after he took over the court.
Yep, like... Ain't no way he has the same physique as modern guy who eats fast food every single day
Dong Zhuo was also a warrior before he became a warlord. You can’t lead men into battle without being somewhat athletic yourself. Like, the advisers and strategists are portrayed to be scholarly and geeky but these men rode horses and marched with the troops on long campaigns. This was time of war, chaos and actions, nobody can be a stereotypical blob or nerds.
One of my favorite characterizations of Dong Zhuo is in Ravage of Times. Even though he is a tyrant, after fighting so much on the border while all the other warlords are expanding their militaries and the court is corrupt as hell, his violent punishments seem comprehensible from his point of view.
Justice for Hua Xiong, that hurt a bit when you said “we don’t have to save him” lmao
Zhang Jiao :"Dong Zhuo, you have pillaged and raided our lands."
Hey i think the Pot just called the Kettle black.
My boy Dong Zhuo is finally more aerodynamic now.😂
Bro let himself go in the palace
I heard the family in the house there have just had a child.
you don't have to go back to camp to switch put weapons, you can do it from the pause menu on the Overworld.
Seems good so far. The small time fights make sense as a place to test out weapons and the like. Hence why they are small. It seems like a great testing grounds for different things
Lore accurate dong zhuo
dong zhuo burned some calories rushing over all the way from the liang province
i love Hua Xiong's voice, it sounds so suave.
When i did this battle I went to the left. When you attack to the left you will be the only person going that way. Dong Zhuo will send Li Meng as back up once he realizes someone is on their own, and when the reinforcements come, Li Meng essentially bottlenecks them at the southwestern base,
Speaking of Dong Zhuo, his thin version from Total War: Three Kingdoms was a somewhat very surprising thing to see when it first came out. But it somewhat didn’t felt out of place.
Too bad he gets fat when the event to confederate Empress He’s lands happened.
Edit: Dong Zhuo here being somewhat reasonable and not spouting cruelty left and right? That is frightening.
Edit 2: Huh… Dong Zhuo’a talking about the necessity of Power in this turbulent times is somewhat of a staple thing, but I think this is the first time I heard of him talking about it in a more nuanced take.
Though, my knowledge of his speech is from Dynasty Warriors 8, which is VERY far back and he speaks it like an upcoming tyrant in that game, come to think of it.
Dong Zhuo portrayal in this game reminds me of a manhua i love reading it called Lu Bu's life simulator. From there, Dong Zhuo looks like someone who tried to handle the situation after taking the emperor hostage. I won't spoil more than this, but it's good read that have lots of intrigue.
I see you are also someone of culture as well... I wish the Manhua still continued. 😢
@patrickdormeus8453 it is continued, what are you talking about? It's already chapter 111
@@ekamandalaputra5517 the last chapter I read was 110 over a year ago.... what url do you read it on?
@patrickdormeus8453 bro, 110 is the newest chapter. The last year chapter is 105
@@ekamandalaputra5517 what website do you use to read? The last arc i read was when Lu bu & Ma Chao defeated Han Sui
Dong Zhuo became Winson Fisk of China lol
I'm getting Spirit of Sanada vibes, from the overworld to the dialogue cutscenes and storytelling. That's not a bad thing. I loved that game.
Time for the Dong
do you think that his depiction here in Origins are more faithful to the historical self or they would combined aspect of the romance novels, making him who are more practical during yellow turban rebellion then slowly degraded after usurping the throne of the Han?
"nectar water" sure.... that's my wine making me braver through intoxication
ST buttering up Dong Zhuo like a big roll
that was a really tough battle, i couldn't help but wonder if it would've been easier if you stayed close to your allies more than going off by yourself to achieve objectives.
Alternatively, if you weren't in a rush to trigger the Dong Zhuo charge, taking the bases first might've also helped.
Dude that battle was so epic wtf
Not-fat Dong Zhuo? How does the fire from his fat last for days now?
the novel is very exaggerated
@ I mean yeah, that's the point.
Veeery small fires?
It’s not unheard of for cremations to be ducked up in ancient times.
And even relatively slim people still have pounds of fat on them.
In love with the new Dong! Thanos vibes.
Love how he's erecting himself into the story 😂😂😂
The overworld portion of this game feels so weird
it's a basic JRPG style
You can switch weapons midbattle in the menu under equipment
I'm glad we don't have to hear Dong Zhuo obnoxious laughing
True Warrior of the Three Kingdoms! Glad DW still have that
Like other comments, I'm also enjoying the characterization and liking the more realistic body of Dong Zhuo. I liked the overly obese Dongy since it fit the campyness of the series, but as you've said, this is a different take. On another note, I wish they had little codex thingies after meeting characters, like for Liu Bei it would explain why he has the ear lobes, etc. etc. I'm sure they have an encyclopedia, but having it close would be good.
Oh, it does. I am shocked Serious Trivia hasn't shown it yet. Every battle has a "Battlefield Information" and an "Encyclopedia Entry" for each character, it really shows how much love and attention went into so many little details, like Shi Xie's brother being imprisoned by Dong Zhuo or a very minor official getting his moment to shine in the Ten Attendants' affairs,
No more fat Dong.....the Era of slim/semi fat Dong has arrived.
I mean, the issue wasn't that he was fat. Is that he was depicted as just some fat slobbering idiot. He's still kinda fat, but he has this deviousness about him now that's very fitting for a character who takes the Han hostage, and a more understandable reasoning behind him now rather than "FOR MY PARADISE!" all the damn time. I like it a lot.
He becomes that after YT are crushed
Dong zhuo is not super fat yet at this moment right ?
He get super fat after he controlling the emperor right ?
I don't think there is any evidence that he ever got super fat
Dong Zhuo got another weapon swap? I miss his spikey sword from DW5.
Loving the game myself.
only 1 episode?
There is an upload schedule posted on the latest community post. There will be another episode later tonight at 9 PM EST.
Nice
am i the only one who dosnt like the idea of 1 swing kills 50+ soldier , i wish they made the soldiers more relevant and had more impact on the game and challenging
Sort of what defines the musou genre…
@@SeriousTrivia yeah but i like the troops back in the DW3 and 4 , thats what i meant maybe its just me
oh then I would say the large forces here where the troops all coordinate those glowing attacks on you are incredibly challenging and actually makes them useful as an opponent in terms of breaking your combos etc.
I think DW4 troops on higher difficulty are basically damage sponges that sometimes block and I am not a sure that is a better way to set difficulty.
I disagree in this case, soldiers in this game, despite being weak, actually fight back (he's also playing on normal difficulty, on Hero difficulty normal soldiers have a little more staying power).
This game is so broken I can’t save and everytime I re launch the game it says save corrupted
How do you have a game that’s not released yet?
@@SeriousTriviait’s out currently for people who paid for the deluxe edition or whatever it’s called. You get access 3 days earlier.
@ steam has a 3 day early access pre order
I see! Hmm interesting. I haven’t ran into any load issue
@ I’ve had 5 hours corrupted and now even with reinstall I can’t save my game
man the MC looks so effeminate. Any chance of customizing appearances?
unfortunately no
First!
