What a wonderful educational job Anthony has done on all the various areas of Boston. I love watching the videos. I once knew Boston like the back of my hand back in the 1950's. It is now so changed.
I worked in Boston as a sanitation worker for 15 years that was quite a while ago and years later A buddy of mine brought me into North Station. We got off the train and I came outside and was completely awestruck and lost
One could make the same claim of just about every ethnic neighborhood in Boston. The yuppies come in and sterilize everything. The yuppies did the same thing to Provincetown = RUINED IT!
You are correct. Im 1st gen american from Italian parents. We used to take the train in some sundays back in the 80s as a kid. It had a bunch of butcher shops, some restaurants and clothing stores with old italian people everywhere. La cosa nostra hanging in corner cafes. Now its 90% expensive restaurants targeted to the rich spoiled yupies that live there. But nontheless I still enjoy going there, just not as much lol
Yuppies and hipsters have cheapened the experience of everything all while spending the most amount of money possible to do it. LOL. Today's culture is so shallow, self centered and one dimensional.
My sister lived at 5 North Square back in the 1980's. Safest neighborhood in Boston at the time for single women. Still pretty, but not the same 'hood.
Not true. I was there a week ago, and I used to live there. We ate in a family owned restaurant and the owners daughter was the waitress and she grew up there with all her friends and still lives there. She is 19. Sure there are millennials buying condos but there is still rent control and families who have stayed and make a living there.
I got married in the north end in 1984 at the old north church, my crazy ex-wifes idea not thinking i agreed to it thinking the church was in the north end it must be catholic , WOW was i wrong , about the church and my ex-wife.

@@milfordcivic6755 And for that we can thank the far left and their indifference, nihilism, and self-loathing.
@@larikipe940 Or we can with honesty blame the baby boomers who raised a bunch of entitled children that were BOTH Republicans and Democrats.
1900 charter street north end boston
Not really an Italian American neighborhood any more, estimates are around 20% Italian today.

only doctors and lawyers can afford to live in the North End now.
Cool
My sister lived there too in the late 80s, and she never felt safer living in any big city and she live in NYC in 1983 and now lives in SF.

Don't worry
What a stark difference in narrative to the Chinatown one. Some bias ehh
yuppies? I think that term stopped being relevant about 20 years ago.
Yea I used to go there and you can not stand Italian in there not even god himself
