- Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time we take a look at what appears to be Xbox games potentially showing up to their competitors. While in my opinion this is a net positive for all of us, this is a clear sign that in the world of gaming, Microsoft isn't so concerned with the hardware they sell. Thanks for watching!

No just hacking and cheating is destroying gaming.

Honestly, Microsoft buying Activision, Blizzard, and Bethesda was the writing on the wall, they should’ve honestly continued investing in building new game studios and propping up the ones they already had.
This logic is flawed, they were just playing the same game Sony was on a bigger level. People didn’t think that when they bought insomniac
Exactly. Only difference is they can skip the filler😅@@el1tefire252
@@el1tefire252 Big difference between buying a studio and an entire multibillion dollar publisher.
@@el1tefire252 Lol they really aren't playing the same game at all. Insomniac is not remotely comparable, Sony had been closely collaborating with them since PS2, in both money and talent. With a couple of rare exceptions they were basically a Sony studio already, propped up with a ton of their help for over 10 years.
MS does not cultivate talent in studios. They just buy the entire building with the people inside it and pray they vomit out something worthwhile eventually to make up the cost.
yeah, then they release games like forza motorsport on a state that is completely broken
I survived the Cola Wars, and now the Console Wars are ending? Man i feel old.

@@Ak-47wizard I never even liked the whole digital part it as a consumer lol, off-topic but recently me and a buddy started collecting blu-rays cause of how much better they are compared to streaming, not only do you get to own it, but you also get special features and see it in HD instead of the standard 480p on DVD, really just hope more people can understand that physical isn't better just because it is but because it gives people the choice and should be allowed to have one instead of only one choice.
Brother, you are probably a PC gamer. When was the last time you inserted a disc in your PC?
I feel like the worst part of all this is most xbox players couldn't even leave to another platform if they wanted to because it would mean losing all of their games and all of the progress/money spent on those games

Literally me bro... Spent so much, money and time... As an achievement hunter my profile might go to waste if Xbox keep destroying themselves. They could easily be on top if they didn't keep trying to do weird new things... Stop trying to go digital only for a start and back out of this making their exclusives mutliplatform ... I did the exact same thing. After ps2 I went to Xbox 360 as I didn’t like the ps3 . 360 was their best creation but I’m happy I went back to PlayStation after that. PlayStation is just better now
Im still riding the waves of the Xbox 360 era. I care very little for newer games, except maybe some choice switch games (physical only though)
Or just go PC and get almost all the games
@@NoHacksTSR Microsoft really changed gaming. they brought so much to gaming. first to ever add hard drive and many more. playstation hasn't add nothing new into gaming at all. cant think of one new innovation playstation brought into gaming industry smh
Never thought I would see Xbox drift towards to the path of Sega and Atari
I don’t think they are, Sega and Atari got screwed because of bad decisions in the console industry, Atari was murdered over ET and the management issues that resulted from consoles after the 2600. I don’t think Microsoft is going to stop making game consoles any time soon, did you all not see the roadmap that was leaked? But I do think the console wars are 100% over, and it shouldn’t matter to anybody whether they play, PlayStation, Xbox, or PC. I myself play on Xbox or PlayStation, and for PC I use my steam deck.
Nah, Atari jumped the gun and made a 64-bit system when 32-bit wasn't even standard yet, and Sega just went overboard with mocking Nintendo. This is just making a system that has no glaring superiority over its only competitor and everyone flocking over to what is essentially the same console but cooler-looking.
good, it's about damn time
Most of the Road map did not happen and those online only consoles make no sense given it being near the life span of the console gen however you are right about the next gen though I think a lot of it is over reaction the ceo of Xbox was never good at twitting just look at how he responded over the leaks they are just trying to save Bethesda because of their recent failures.@@jet0802
It was expected it would go to that path
Part of me hates the fact digital is now becoming the new norm, as a former collector of physical games myself it’s a different experience having that disk box to look at, especially if it’s a special / limited edition copy. Even with emulators that can give you nostalgia of some of the older titles, it’s digital, and emulation is really for those who want to play an older game and cant, content or personal pleasure. When it comes to cloud gaming or “ on demand ” gaming dont even get me started
I say it a lot, but the worst part of the digital only trend is younger gamers (definitely late gen z and alpha) won't care and some of them likely haven't bought a game physically nor will they care to.
@@d0ct0rz3d4why should they care? It’s not like video game discs add anything positive to the world anyways. When was the last time you heard of someone treating cancer with a game disc?
@@DrLifeGamer Oh idk, when you own a physical disc of game cartridge,, you can actually own it and hold it in your hands? Assuming it's not a digital only code. Also your last sentence has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

It's crazy how much I miss the console wars era in retrospect. Not in and of itself, but because it reflected a much greater sense of passion, excitement, and community in the gaming world. Maybe I'm just old.
You're old, it's just nostalgia
I remember that era just kinda sucking. And I grew up with it

Perhaps. I miss old games. Ive been replaying ps2 games.
Problem is if Xbox really were to die out then there’d be no competition to keep Sony in check. They’d be able to do whatever.
Pretty much its a war only between them as nintendo is just doing its own thing
Yeah the Nintendo Switch and the Steam Deck are built different in comparison to The ps5 and xbox series X
Inagine Nintendo coming back for power though. Not a good chance, but an entertaining thought
Nah. This argument is stupid and needs to stop tbh.

My brother has an Xbox and wanted a game for Christmas. It was a brand new release but had no physical copy; I had to buy him a gift card instead. As someone who still buy's music on CD's, I wholly support owning physical media, especially if that media is really important to you.
Edit: I'm curious if Sony still releases physical media because the Japanese market is different. I know they're one of the few markets that also still buy music in CD format.
I doubt Sony will leave the physical space anytime soon, especially if MS do.
@@Tim-ZX6R i dont believe that Sony will be longer it that physical game tho, there are so many many more ppl buying just digital and the 5 persons that doesnt seems not worth it, considering that making CDs isnt cheap either.
@@ExTremZero I agree that it will definitely happen, but PS and Nintendo won’t miss the opportunity to spin some marketing about offering more choice to the consumer. Nintendo will be the last to exit the physical space for sure. But when it is gone, prices of games and services will hike considerably. Whatever digital purists say though, physical media will always have a place, and what’s happened with vinyl will happen with games too.

Call me old fashioned but I totally agree about owning physical games. Getting a new game growing up was a big deal, so when I spend money on a game, I like to have a tangible object that I can own and play forever.
I'm out here still buying my games physically on PS4 💀
That doesn't make you old fashioned, it makes you intelligent
My thing with buying physical copies is that if I don't like the game I can at least sell the disc to somebody who might enjoy it. They're often more actively (and more deeply) discounted than digital, too. I got Cyberpunk 2077 for $15, I think, and it's turned out to be totally worth it. Love that game now that it's what it should've been at launch...
There’s some weird sensory satisfaction of owning a physical game. Good times
I wouldn’t mind buying physical games if so often I didn’t need an online connection to actually play them.
I remember deciding to buy a game on disc recently on pc as part of a collector’s edition, I had to insert 5 discs to install the whole thing and at the end of the installation I needed to insert an (included) steam key to validate the game before I could launch it. Installation also took 3 hours and I ended up having to repair the files through steam anyway.
Same. Im still buying ps2 games
Media Preservation is a very important issue that NEEDS to be taken more seriously.
Not really. There's very, very little that's not preserved. And you can thank digital for that.
There’s something different about having a game on a bookshelf and looking at it. Then just looking at a digital library. Shame it’s happening.
agree, looking at a digital library is only relevant if your still connected to them but the moment that service has ended then that library is worthless while a PHYSICAL GAME SHELF makes it worthwhile since you get see all the games you've bought/played regardless whether your connected to the internet or not.
Loaning games out to my nieces and nephews is incredibly rewarding but nail biting scary as sometimes they lose games.
This. Exactly how I feel about records.
I try to buy single player games on physical and multiplayer on digital because the multiplayer most likely wont last forever anyway.
I grew up with the xbox 360 and seeing xbox fall is like seeing a friendship fizzle out
Well it's on them. They never fully recovered from that bullshit xbox one pre launch with "always online" "can't share games" "forced kinect" and the console was 100$ more than the PS
Xbox died out after the 360 era ended
@@kobra6660 That's true. The PS3 overtook the leading 360 thanks to some stellar new IPs while MS didn't. The XboxOne was a fiasco and was totally mismanaged. The XboxOneX was the only impressive machine they created - and they ignored it like it was an annoying bug. They have no loyalty for fans.
It’s like seeing your friend be a rebel punk as a teen then seeing them apply to work at Microsoft for a desk job.
@@PILULE-ow9skyeah I remember those days. I always wanted Xbox to do better but that was gross. I think they have bad ideals in general.
They leave out gamers who don’t want to be stuck online or enjoy physical games. I used to love opening manuals and getting into a game.

I kind of anticipate an actual AAA market crash soon. They just seem to not actually research anything anymore when it comes to market, each year they seem to get less and less press and sales.
I hope to see it happen somewhat, but I also fear it.
they get replaced by newcomers, been happening for decades. atari crumbled for their hubris, as did many others, sega fell for losing touch, then somewhat bounced back as a software only company going forward as sony replaced them as nintendo's competition, eventually xbox came along, not even mentioning all of the others that came and went like colecovision, intellivision, turbografx, neo geo, and many many more that became notable and fizzled out. change keeps things fresh. eventually sony nintendo and microsoft will fade, it happened to commodore, atari, and sega fell softer, but still lost it's footing. it always happens when the executive branch gets the "too big to fail" mindset and begins to forget they're catering to their customers before the investors if they want sustainability in a market.

but same game with poor internet downloading it could take weeks. And in some places your stuck with limited data or if it's unlimited they at least slow you down heavily after a certain point and basically putting the download on pause untell the next month when you pay that bill.
@@bamgbose3309 That's not exclusive with digital-only being a pain versus discs. The read speed of a UHD is a *lot* faster than rural internet, and doesn't kludge up the system for everyone else. Mutahar: "Xbox doesn't give a crap about game preservation."
You have to pay for PS PLUS to STREAM PS3 games on a PS5, Xbox consoles run 360 and originals natively on their current consoles after a one-time download via disc or off the xbox store.
You are going out of your way to set up emulation on a pc for a game (Lost Odyssey) that is already fully playable start to finish with upscaled resolution and good framerate on a Series X/S.
Playstation doesn't give you this option for PS3 games, but you can still emulate PS3 games on a PC if you wish.
Of course I understand the fact he's primarily talking about owning physical media and having that physical disc contain the full product, I just thought what I just said was worth mentioning.
True. I have a series X for that reason. I also have the PS5 just because I saw the writing on the wall last year when I saw the leaks of Xbox going full digital. And I guess if Sony follows suit I’ll just sit there lol

@@kyledodson2992 I also recently got a ps5 in October, snagged the Spider Man 2 limited edition before they were all gone.
Sometimes I think Mutahar is spot on when speaking about a particular topic, but there are other times (like this) when I feel he has no idea what he is talking about
Is that really game preservation though? You need an internet connection to set up an Xbox Series X, and you need an internet connection to download the game. When Microsoft takes down the servers, the game is no longer available, you can't even use a "new unused still in the box" Xbox Series X anymore. Xbox clearly has the best backwards compatibility between the three consoles, but I wouldn't really say that it means they give a crap about game preservation. You also buy an "Xbox" game on a disc and it comes with the Xbox One code, if you have a Series X and want to play that version then you need an internet connection again. This is convenient now, but terrible for future game preservation.
Also I hate to defend Sony, but they do have a valid excuse for not offering the same option for PS3 games. YOU try writing an emulator for the PS3's bizarre hardware. The RCPS3 guys have been at it since 2011, for 13 years, and it's still not able to run 100% of games (the nearly 70% they have at the time of writing is still really impressive though). Given that, it's reasonable why Sony haven't just whipped something up for playing PS3 games on PS5.
They just spent 70 BILLION - it’s not dying.

@@3rdHalf1No that really isn't what happened. Steam giving developers an easy built-in anti piracy system and destroying the seconds market happened which lead most new releases on PC to be digitally only and that for the same full company control forever over the software reasons spread to consoles.
And to many gamers just did go along with it because they wanted these exclusive games which told the entire industry that people are at large willing to put up with it.
Microsoft is earning 200 billions from cloud and 365 suits , do you really think they care about gaming. Nooooooo
The funny thing is, you are probably right about if Microsoft included having a PC type experience on their console, that it would have boosted sales. They make Windows, what is stopping them from including a desktop on their console like the Steam Deck has a desktop on their system. (making it a portable PC as a secondary function)
I say this because, what sold PS2s so much? The DVD player, the thing that costed A LOT more buying it normally, versus getting a PS2 which also happened to be a gaming console second.
If Microsoft was smart, they would have included a desktop on their console, which given most console gamers don't have the means to get into PC gaming, it could have been an introductory way of getting people into PC gaming.
Not as good as a gaming PC, but like the Steam Deck, it's SOMETHING, and if they put the right amount of "ok" type of specs in it... it might be able to run Steam games or other types of games, on their TV, which would ALSO let more people invest in their console... similar to how the PS2, non gamers would have wanted it for the cheaper DVD player value.
But I know why they won't do it, because it would cut in on their sales for games as people would just buy from Steam or elsewhere on PC if it had a desktop. (which, while true, not every DVD is owned by Sony, so they would lose sales in that regard sometimes, but meanwhile the PS2 is still known for selling the most consoles ever at this point and I could see Microsoft compete with that if they sold a console-like a PC, something the Steam Deck kinda is... but instead base it off of Windows OS and make it a bit more of a custom OS similar to what Steam Deck is doing on their side)
Totally agree with you, in plus of this console like PC, I hope they keep the quick resume and boost fps on older games and could be the real gucci console esperience with also gamepass, more stores to buy games and hope other subscriptions deals like ea play pro and ubi + (that already exist on xbox)
I’m convinced this is what Xbox has to do next generation if they want to stay in the console business. Creating the best of both worlds by having a console with a “PC Mode” would be extremely interesting. The Series X is already more powerful than any $500 gaming PC, so this is definitely possible for them to make, potentially at a surprisingly cheap price too.
In my opinion that is exactly what they do or it will be inspired by the way the steam deck works. The full integration of all Microsoft services.
This makes a lot of sense. I have a Steam Deck and I barely use the desktop portion but it’s still cool to have.
Thats the exact reason why i bought a gaming laptop to play and work
Japan has a large collection caulture physical copies of media whether it's movies, books, manga, or video games. I know a lot of people who collect things just like the Japanese but for some reason in western countries, people allow things like e-readers and downloading movies and games to be more and more the norm.
I've seen many videos of stores selling old consoles and games, that's gamers paradise
With e-readers unfortunately most of readers have bad eyes, I couldn’t read physical books for years bcos my eyes hurt so much , unfortunately e-readers were a game changer and you can store your books on physical drives. Plus there’s a huge overconsumerism problem with the purchase of physical books now.
Its just simply easier to buy an online copy of something bc it cost the same amount of money (but usually cheaper bc of sales) and you dont even need to leave your home.
japanese children were taught to respect all things bc "everything has a god living in it" or something like that. Also most companies in japan rely on them selling physical copies of stuff just to make a profit

I like your sentiment about owning physical copies of games, but based on the current trends you would get mostly a buggy mess, early access title if you were to play a release version of something. We need a bazillion of patches usually to make a new game playable.
Those trends exist because they CAN exist thanks to this digital world. If we were still stuck to physical, AAA games would actually release complete.
@@TopTwom Yeah of course!
Imagine if GTA 1 or all these older games would've released in this horrible state what we call "normal" these days. There are many positive aspects of this digital world you're explaining (like sharing our thoughts with each other on UA-cam 🙂) but the industry has to evolve with it, new paradigms, etc.
Naturally we shouldn't preorder stuff lol, that just gets these things worse.
Most games when they were released on physical media were released mostly playable. Most AAA releases didn't have game breaking bugs. Due to the cost of pressing the media, companies were more cognizant of ensuring as many bugs were removed before release. @@TheMightyNovac Then maybe write it clear. Why not defend console exclusivity? What does exclusivity has to do with download requirements?
@@mdjey2 If you're so concerned with game preservation that you cringe at download requirements for games, then you should also be concerned with console exclusivity. Not only is it almost always a decision built on promoting hardware sales rather than a particular exploitation of original hardware, it also creates a far more pressing issue; downloadable games can be preserved easily in data, whereas hardware must be preserved via the incredible difficult, intensive, and often inaccurate task of emulator development.
I can’t imagine living in a world without Xbox, coming from a PlayStation fan it really hurts and saddens me to see Xbox fall from grace. At one point Xbox was the dominant beast in gaming during the mid 00s to early 2010s everyone had a Xbox no matter where you were. Once E3 2013 happened everything changed forever, gaming will never ever be the same again.
